Hi everyone-

I'm fairly new to the monk class, and thus far, have really only used the martial staff.  I'm interested in many of the other weapon types available to the monk, but I'm curious to see what the experts have to say about their favorites.  I imagine some weapons will be better in a group/raid setting rather than soloing, so please make sure to mention that.

I'm looking at trying blade staff next, but something about fists/ulaks keeps calling to me as an old school EQ player.

Any recommendations?  Anyone?

Bah Ulaks and claws arent really Old School EQ as they where out with Luclin  Wink
Anyway, the general consensus would be whatever weapon offers the maximum raw damage (and not DPS)
i dont know if the debate 2 handers vs dual wield has been closed, but it seems there are pros and cons for both.
Regarding favored weapon for group/solo, i'd say it depends on your monk style.
Myself as an harmonious monk, i like using a martial sword, the + parry with the def stance, gives good chances to parry attacks and launch counters that are really very effective, but of course this is when i tank or solo.
For DPS, i use 2 fistwraps i managed to get, but i suppose that with cash, i could get crafted gear way better than my stuff.

Personally... max all weapon skills!  Specialization is different... for that, i max martial sword, martial staff, bladed staff, and choose either handwraps, or claws/ulak.  I'd say that'll depend on availability of crafting friends.  I went handwraps, one of my partners uses Claws.  She gets hers made by a high skilled weaponsmith, mine are made by a high skill leatherworker.  I know some would argue to max out spec. in shurikens but... i use them to pull, not dps, the others i switch to depending on circumstances.  Martial sword for when i'm tanking anything more than 2 dots, handwraps for when i'm grouped and doing dps.  My martial staff i have set up with a proc focus that's handy for aoe's, for those few times when being a dragon means hitting everything hard and fast... and my bladed staff is set up to proc 100 pts of resistance vs all.  Figured why not have a weapon for each situation Smiley.  And yes Quinn, im still wanting some whooping stick/batons for stuns vs casters :p
