With the changes to the secerts, how important is intelligence now?  Would say a Dark/Half Elf int build be somewhat feasible now as an oddball build?

It's more DPS vs. Less Hit Points route. It's viable for group play, For raiding I think the jury is still out although the general consensus is HPs > All.

I personally use a 1/2 Elf STR / DEX / INT build and during my FD / pull testing and Tanking testing I have not had any significant problems getting the job done.

And not a very good speedbump at that  2funny
All joking aside dps is going to be super important in raids
There will be times where the extra hps will help alot but for the most part i found a balance between them for myself.
It will be up to each monk to find that balance  as they level and play their monks.Sathuil is a heavier dps balance then myself but im prolly more likely to survive the  pulls a tad longer if a fail fdor ritw attack gets in.
In all monk class is a blas to play no matter how you Spec yourself as i really feel there is no wrong way to go(aside from going full vit/wis probably but whoever does that is just  idiot2 i think  2funny)

I broke down and made a ... bah the desert race that starts near khal i can never remeber their name, morbedi?

Well anyway, i made one of "those" monks, so that i could do a 5str 5int 4dex build dragon monk to see how much this would effect my secret's damage.

For fun i made 5 +health Intell jewlery, and his intell at 17 is almost 100, and his str is 108, dex in the 80's i think, and he is a dps beast using crapy starter gear, no twinking beyond the Uncommon crafted jewlery.

You know how the secrets list a much higher damage on the trainer, at the "base" damage? Im almost to that damage now, as it listed 98 or so and im now up to 96 i think, ill log in and check later, but it really does make a noticable increase considering its added damage to every single hit.

to really exploit secrets what i'm interested to know is if anyone has managed to get a weapon/melee haste combo going such that they are dropping white damage before the global cooldown has refreshed.

I see that as possibly being the biggest single boost to dps going maybe. when you get an extra 2-3000 damage dropping inbetween specials for free its gotta be good Smiley

I havn't worked too hard on getting it to work, i use a pair of crafted handwraps, with +15% melee haste from steal the wind, i'm sure with a little bit of celerity crafted gear, or the right bard song i could get it working.

also, would the extra dps from the auto attacks exceed what i lose from dropping back from my bladed staff?

questions questions...........

Try it with Aluul's Claws (http://vg.curse.com/database/items/details/1349453/), they got a 1.85 Speed. Should do the trick.

Or Arazmus Ones from NN, with 1.95 Speed http://vg.curse.com/database/items/details/1393168/

Or this one 1.85 Speed  http://vg.curse.com/database/items/details/1349454/

But probably this will involve some farming.

I got the calculator out and i figure it like this -

2.0sec global cooldown less 25% refresh haste from aum kor gives a GC of 1.5s to beat.

2.25s speed crafted wraps less 35% melee haste gives a speed of 1.46 and should work.

Something tells me it won't though.

I know that when i run with the same wraps aum ti and steal the wind i should be on GC 2.0 and attack speed 1.91 and that dosn't work.

Maybe pnig has something to do with it.

I'm interested to know if melee haste has a cap like spell haste. Spell haste caps at 50%, 30 from buffs and 20 from gear.

I guess it could be tested with a bard as 10% haste from aum kor and 15% from steal the wind + 20% from a bard song could equal 45% haste and should work but if it doesn't haste buffs would have a cap?

I'm sorry if i've derailed your thread alittle here, but if i was to pull points from con and put them in int i would also want to get the best possible effect from that int and this is how i would want to do it. So its sort of on topic Smiley

1) refresh haste doesnt decrease global cool down, its always 2 seconds
2) Every time you press a combat attack, your auto attack resets to start again 1.46s from the last time you attacked
3) melee haste is caped at 20% from spells and 20% from items, cap of 40% (some have said its closer to 30% spell 10% item, but you get the idea)
4) aum kor adds REFRESH and MELEE haste (both), steal the wind adds MELEE haste.  Refresh haste turns a 5 min reuse move into 4 min reuse (etc) while steal the wind turns a 2.25s weapon into a 2.0 sec weapon.   They dont effect each other.  However i THINK only the higher % haste spell stacks.

5) I THINK that auto attack wont fire off until global cool down expires, im not 100% sure on it, ill parse some latter, but i really get the feeling that 2s after the combat art is when you auto attack, and then its every 1.8s (or whatever the weapon dly is)  Ill get back you yall after i get some sub 2s claws made

Yeah, this seems to make perfect sense.

Sucks however...
