Hi all.  Some of you may remember me.  Some of you probably couldnt stand me.  LOL

Anyhow,  I just dropped by to say hello..its been about 6 months I think.  I was wondering how monks were doing now and more specifically how VG in general is handling.  This game has always had promise but with the constant crashing and the lack of attention my monk recieved, I just couldnt tough it out anymore.  Im glad some of you brave souls were able to.

So could anyone give me a brief synapsos on how things are now?  Will this game run on Vista. Dunno if I will ever come back but its a possibility.  I have a new computer now so it may even run better who knows.

I run on vista x64 with less then 1 crash per 2-3 days at the moment.  Using a 8800gtx card and the latest beta drivers.  The game still isnt as stable as wow/eq2 but its getting there, and performance has gone way up.  I now average 60-80 fps in less crowded dungeons and 20-30 in towns (with settings on max)

Monks:  Have just recently (first time since beta 3 i beleive) started getting some love and attention,  Quinn The Eskimo is doing a fine job of communicating with taliksar and as such monks are moving more towards where they should be.

Biggest concern for me is that while things are getting better, the rate of change is incredibly slow.  APW has taken the better part of 2-3 months to plan, itimize, balance, etc.  Class changes, while on test, have been there for almost a month now.  The game itself is going in a fine direction, but still at a bit slow of a pace.  In the ideal world apw would have been released a month ago along with flying mounts, and all the developers would be focusing on class balance now, but VG is a really small team now so much more cant be expected.

Also you might want to consider reading a few of the producers letters.  Highlights include stuff like increased exp curves, less death penalties, etc.  If a hard core game for elitests was your style you might want to reconsider (i dont personally know you so just throwing that out there, mean no offense)

Aye, things are moving in the right direction but slowly.  I think, though, that the slowness of game improvements will largely go away after APW is finished.  I remember reading posts a couple months ago from devs talking about how when they started APW their team only had one channel through which to pass game updates and patch material.  During the APW work, they established other channels that could be used once APW is through.  What I think this means is that they'll be able to work on large game updates without blocking work on smaller patches in the future and that should speed things up considerably.

Well, if you got some peeps in game and had a patience with bugs/issues than reload it. Game is much patched, just like the others say, but its still not bug free - the most classes had still isues and major errors.

Dont understand me wrong, at all its fun to play - i still do it, but it is not a "final all - cool - all done" product after your 6 months break  Wink

Without friendsd is pretty much the offline game, thin comunity - ne real pickups or just like in old EQ times Camp checks etc (i can speak only for Halgar server).

Performance is "ok". I have pretty much same system as Fujitsu (as i see from his post) also same frames all around,  but still there are situations or places that put me down to 15 frames.

Its still the game with highest performace killing on the MMO sky. With good computer you can play it nice, not perfect but nice. At least 2gig ram, maybe Core Duo and a 8xxx card or 7xxx card should let you play without turning all grafics things off.

Well Monks, yea monks....we are fine, still no utility as ranger or bard or rogue but we can still FD!  Wink

Hey hey! Long time no see!

I think since the SoE aquisition the rate of change while slower is definately more deliberate. It's not the seat of your pants type of managing that sigil had when they 1st launched.

One of your biggest complaints iirc was that damage didn't scale well through out a monks level range. With the changes on test I think it goes a long way to settling that complaint. Our solo-ability and most of our abilites have evolved away from micromanagement to straight out damage dealing. If you look over the upcoming monk changes thread you will see what I mean.  Cool.

If you were to resub, I'd wait until after GU3, part 2 gets pushed to live for the most bag for your buck.

Like always, we are closer to where the class should be. I guess we shall find out more when all these changes are finally in place and are alble to get another parse off against the other O Fighters.

Stay in touch,

~QTM

Hey thanks for the responses.  I wouldnt have anybody to be playing with as they have all moved on and are not comming back.  I play EQ2 so I could up to the bigger subscription and play them all.  Maby I will wait a little longer.
