Hi just got the game yesterday so im a mega noob. I got a few questions, first what are the main attributes of a monk and do i need to put any points into int or wis? Second im on the pvp server so im looking for a pvp build what fighting style do you guys suggest and what weapons should i spec in? Oh any have i gimped myself going a Raki? i thought the 50% spell damage would be useful in pvp?

You want str and dex as your primarry attributes, if your on a pvp server i would go for CON next for the hp and resists.

I personally go str>dex>int because int affects secrets and at 50 200 int vs 50 int is an extra 300 dmg per proc.

For pvp server id go Harmonious, since they have the most buffs/debuffs/attacks.  Dragon has too low of mitigation, and drunken have less attacks and are piddly dps till 46.

Id find a pvp monk for spec info, because its a different world on pvp, id imagine they would tell you to do martial sword because of the increased survivability of that weapon set.

On live i spec Fist wraps, blade staffs, martial staffs, and claws/ulaks.  I personally dont think the +10% dmg is working on the spec, and its really hard to parse a difference so small, but some people swear by it i feel its more important to level all weapons up, and just spec once your sure your only gonna use a specific type at end game.

Harmonious and use a two-handed weapon albeit a bladed staff or martial staff. Macro in the thousand fists chain to auto switch to the tiger stance and bash some heads.

/combatformset "misc tiger stance"
/cast "thousand fists X"

Don't remember the name of the first tiger stance, but the first thousand fists is obviously "I"

Have that bound to R on my keyboard.

Question here... I understand the logic behind this but... isn't it that int affecting secrets a mistake? I mean if this ever gets "corrected" then wouldn't you be stuck with alot of int you no longer need?

The answer is yes and no.

Yes int is supposed to affect secrets
No its not supposed to lower it like it currently does.

How it is on test.   It says it adds 300 dmg based on 66 int, so when you get it, it adds 300 dmg.  But adding additional int increases dmg to over 500.

Just to clarify:
On live Skill says it adds 342 dmg on the trainer, once you get it, mousing over it says it adds 189 dmg.  This was due to the dmg being scaled on the base int needed for casters to achive 100% spell damage focus, which at 50 was around 400.   So our 66 int was lowering the monk spell dmg focus to about 33%.

On test: Monks have their own spell damage rating that is independent from casters.  With 100 int you can achive 100% spell dmg focus, and with 200 int i was at 138 spell dmg.  So now the skill that said 320 now adds 500+

I would hold fire on the respec button,

Back when was with Ten Ton Hammer i tryed to get some strait answers  from the Devlopers regarding how INT effects Monks Secrets,  I was given the same old "Working as intended" quote back then. The Fact is it isnt working as intended and never has.
INT isnt scaling properly with Secrets, therefore its impossible to guess how its working, where the cap is (if any) or where diminishing returns come.

I for one would be the first to Dump all my DEX and pump INT, maybe get some INT gear maybe even Spell damage focus!

However as this is still being tampered with would not advise any respec only to find the goal posts have been moved, having already spent all the respec points!

This could lead to having a Lot of Very Angry Monks, Angry Monks tend to lead to Riots  Shocked
