I have a lvl 22 harmonius monk. Until now I ve mostly used claw and ulak weapons but lately I ve realised that bladed staff in general seems to have a higher damage. I also realised that I have to choose only a few weaponskills i should raise to be able to max out my skill...

So now I wonder what weapon types most high lvl monks are using? Is it shuriken, bladed staff and claw/ulak I should go for? It looks like bladed staff have the best dps but since a lot of people here are using claw/ulak I guess there is some advantage with that to?

Does my monk style affect what kind of weapons I should choose?

This following is my opinion and suits my playstyle

I have my Claws / Ulak, Martial Staff, and Bladestaff skills maxed as they are your primary damage dealing weapons. Of course you can substitute any of the HTH weapons as you see fit. If you use 1 claw and 1 handwrap you may run in to problems not having enough points.

Martial Sword is IMO more of a defensive weapon and I perosnally don't feel the need to put points into it. Same with Shurikens are just for pulling. So I dont bother putting points into this as well.  (If you play on a PVP server you may want to reconsider this though as ranged damage is key as most classes will try and kite you.)

Also keep in mind that even if you arent putting points into a specialization don't neglect the general skill it's based on as who knows what "phat lewt" could drop and leveling up your weapon skill from a 0 would be the suck.

Hope this helps,

~QTM

OK, thanks. Yeah, I play pvp so I probably need the shuriken skill, at least if they fix the bug with them.

I dont really get the difference between martial staff, bladed staff and claw/ulak. It s all weapons that work in almost the same way? Is it only so you should be able to use more of the weapons you get from lots? Or is it some tactical difference beween those weapons?

Hand to Hand weapons (Claw / Ulak / Handwraps / Knucles will carry + 5% / 2.5% to crit main hand /  offhand.
Martial Swords will give a bonus to parry
Martial Staff / Bladestaff will grant double damage on a crit.

My personal play style has me using Claws for the + to crit then macroing weapon changes so I use the blade staff / martial staff during special move chains.  After the chain is over I switch back to claws.

That's a pretty cool idea, never thought of that...

I've been told by monks lvl 46+ that a bladed staff will do the most all around DPS end game.
(especially if the get the flawless parish's bladed staff of devestation)

I would say for a single weapon choice, bladed staff is the way to go lvl 46+, as well as endurance regen gear (for spamming specials like a madman along with the lvl 50 aum)

Any thoughts?
