That is the weapon from the sleeping moon quest line.  It requires a lot of faction.  You need to have 11,900 faction to qualify.  Being an Orc Monk, that meant I had to be max faction before I could get the quest.  There is also an upgraded version that adds 50 fire resistance.  I believe there are other posts on these boards that cover the quest.

Just a quick note on this;

I think a clicky shuriken is a "must" have in a monks arsenal (Extra 10m in range for the win!!!). The item damage however is not being applied properly and will not do any more damage than a crude shuriken. Given the downside of  the damage bug it's still worth having imo

whats the point of doing a difficult faction quest for an item that you can only use like.... say.... 100 times?

I'm assuming you dont get a life long supply of them. sounds liek a lot of work for nothing

It's an everlasting supply of shuriken, no charges or limited amount.
You're not given the shuriken but the Varaelian Orb of Moon and Stars,
which can be activated every 10 minutes and gives you 50 shuriken.
Totally worth questing.  Smiley

Crafted shurikens of the "light" variety have a range of 35 meters. 1 ore(ingot) makes 600 shurkien. That and you can also modify the damage types to whatever you want. Say all your gear is Qalian style and gives a bonus for slashing damage, then mod your throwing weapons to deal slashing damage. Whether or not Qalian style is actually slashing damage I cannot remember. If the quested 30m range shuriken end up doing 1500 damage as it states then they are absolutely superior, but for now go with crafted. Cheers

I've been going with the crafted for the extra range as well, although the Continental Effect was changed quite a while ago, so the damage type doesn't much matter any more. I'd put up the link to the vanguardcrafters.com page that shows the new ones, but I can't get to it from work  Sad

Although that does make me wonder, does each slot (the actual ranged weapon + the "quiver" slot) stack up the new continental effects? Hmm.

I'd sure love to have one of these Orbs, but until the ranged damage gets fixed, there's just not enough justification for all that grinding...

Yes, good point. Finding that information has proven to be rather annoying now hasn't it?

Apprently the fix for this is incoming in the next patch per Talisker (I was completely floored with this info),  So given the damage of the shuriken (1252) and coupled with Aum Liat + Soaring Leap we may be able to actually kite stuff. For you PVP folks this is could be nice fix for you as well.

I am hopefull but, until I see this on a live server dont count it as gospel yet. Just passing along the information.

Well, IF Talisker keeps his word, this might actually be good news for a change. Thanks for the update  Cool

The upgraded version is altered as well.

I cant believe that it should be down to 200, This is the culmination of a extremely long and time consuming questline. The reward should equal the time investment. Quite frankly a T4 Blacksmith can make better stuff this just isnt right IMO.

I am looking for an explination on this one.

Actually, when I think about it, the whole t4 blacksmith making better may be one of the main reasons for why they did it.  They may be trying to look out for that blacksmith so that he isn't run out of business by everyone getting an unlimited supply of better-than-his shurikens.

Now, I like the idea of having an infinite supply of things to throw as much as the next guy, but I don't think its unreasonable for us to have to pay a blacksmith (or become a blacksmith) to sport the best throwing items.  It ensures that the crafted gear is still valuable though not essential.

Also, we have to remember that its no small thing to become a T4 blacksmith anyway  Wink  If we do anything, I suggest we make the questline less tedious and grind-oriented

Of course, my opinion is based on how I only use throwing items for pulling.  I don't care too much about how much damage I do on a throw as long as the mob is runnin for me afterwards.  For pullin, I'd still get the summon pouch so I could keep myself supplied with infinite pulling fodder.

Seriously, IMO a T4 blacksmith can make some great weapons, but usually dont make better than Legendary items. Talisker has gone dark (a.k.a. not answering IMs) but I will get an answer from someone.
