I can't really say there is any "must have" gear out there at all. I can say that the Afrit weapon quest may e worth doing, I am on the last part of it so I can't really tell you what the finishing podut is like, but it looks to be pretty good. With today's patch it looks like the gorgalok armor might be worth it, but that is just one more faction grind that I might be too lazy to do...we'll see when I get a chance to check stats and such.

From what ive seen so far the best gear your  gonna be able to have is crafted gear. The last time i checked the Devs stated that not even 10% of the crafted items have been discovered so far.

For weapons, the best in game is the torchbearer.  It has 71 dps.  I have yet to see a crafted item that can compare but am definitely on the lookout.  This may change if the 2-H weapons start doing double damage on crits but at this point Torchbearer is best weapon in game for Monk DPS.

Jagged Fist wraps of striking.
66dps and vendeta proc.  Easily out dpses tourchbearers.

AS far as weapons.  Greystone 2hb is the most dps of all weapons.  Its actualy the same as any 2 handed t5 crafted so pick your poison.  Martial staff with contagon proc is bad ass.   I personaly use a bladestaff of devestation.

My big problem with those 2, is the only thing they have good is the dps rating.   Their stats and procs blow.

Aluul - 121-138 dmg, 68.65 dps, 7 str/7vit/50 hp
Torchbearer - 126-139 dmg, 71.35 dps, 38 sv fire, 70 hp
arazamus - 129-142 dmg, 69.23 dps, 17str 6 dex

Flawless xxx jagged fist wraps of striking - 141-156 dmg, 65.78 dps +37 crit  and  11str/7dex/4vit or 11dex/7con/4str   then add which ever continental effect you choose, i personaly got the 15% heal proc.

Few things to note, our skills our based off MELEE dmg and WEAPON dmg.  So the player made fist wraps may have the lowest dps rating , they have the highest dmg, which makes for the highest MELEE dmg and WEAPON dmg, it just means they are the slowest.   They are hands down the most dps combo in the game and have the best stats imho.

As far as must have items.

Jagged tunic of the marked (t5 ur with +177 crit and a 5 % chance to proc + 10% cirt.
Celestial ward stars (at least heroic, but legendary is what im getting) -  290 dmg, 45 rng, + crit
Stormslam - for its avoidance buff
Prime vielthread bags -32 slots
Aged Saddle bag - 32 slots
Stalte carvings of invisibilty - broker.
Lucent jewlery and cloaks - (the only lvl 50 faction worth grinding)
Rhaz legendar helm
Gloves of hatred
Possibly: (if u can stand the intense grind) the levi cloak, underwater breathing mask, super jump boots, from dragons backbone gnomes.

IMHO:
Swamp of gorgalok area is a total waste.
Hengerian cloak sucks for melee compared to lucent one
The armor that requires t6 rare/ur to upgrade is good, but if u can afford player made its better (except for the bp)
Also the swamp armor quests are FAR worse then loot the hengerian himself drops (drops best legs/bp in game)

Afrit weapon is a waste
the stats blow, and we get no + crit like other weapons
the proc is moderate cold dmg, with a bonus to effreti woo woo
for a heroic item thats quested its about the same as aluuls claws

Question, those stars, are the limited pack or just some kind of "endless quiver" pieces?  Smiley

Underwater Breathing Mask - any direkt link to this quest? didnt really realized those reward at those gnomes....

I want some thing like this because I think it may be better then the vendetta proc on the hand wraps.

I had a pair made for handwraps.

1 "of striking" means a finishing crystal was used.  The crystal itself adds to the weapon dmg AND adds the proc.  which is why the striking fist wraps are 66 and the non striking are 54ish.
2 The + melee dmg from devestation crystals is small, its about 50ish.   So if you take the BASE weapon dmg, add devestation, you gain about 12 dmg over  striking.  HOWEVER they give less weapon dmg and melee dmg because + melee dmg isnt calculated into the inital proc, its ADD after all the other dmg.

Were you responding to me? Honestly you confused the hell out of me if you were. I believe the weapon would give +200 melee damage which would equate to +7% melee damage then theres also the +86 damage on it.

Devestatio crystals add 200 dmg to TWO handers.

Jagged Hand wraps of devestation - 52.8 dps  - 114-125 dmg , +24 crit and 69 melee dmg

jagged fist wraps of striking - 141-156 dmg, 65.78 dps +37 crit+ proc

So you lose ~30-35 base dmg . Which is what affects all multipliers your attacks are based on.  IE if something is 200% weapon dmg, thats what it affects.  the + to melee dmg is when you mouse over dps and it says "melee dmg 460-500", it adds it straight on to there.

But most of our attacks don't do the 200% weapon damage but instead melee damage +so and so. So what do you think would be better for? The 2 handwraps of striking or some thing like the bladestaff i posted?

The blade staff is, i have it, and its hands down the top dps item in the game.  Only thing close is a martial staff with contageon proc (minus dodge and resists)
