Hi, first post here and new to VG and VG Monks in general.  I hope this is not a repost.

I've gotten my monk to lvl 14 now.  As is my nature as things go along I tend to stop and smell the roses now and again.  Tonight I stopped button mashing to watch some of the damage numbers go by.  I was very shocked to see so little variation in the incoming damage I was taking.

1 example, fighitng a Ksaravi Kidnapper (lvl 13).  This mob doesn't seem to have any specials so makes reading the spam easier.  Letting this mob attack me while I stand there till I need to FD.  It hits me for between 41-43 damage every single time (not including parry or dodge of course).  I FD, heal and try this many times and the result is always the same. 41-43 NOTHING outside of this range.  I find this so very odd.

I am unbuffed at 411AC, 1552 defense (not sure what else affects this).  Wondering if my AC was relatively high to this mob (all blue armor) I take every stitch of AC off down to 0 AC and repea the test.  Same Ksaravi Kidnapper - The damage range changes to 45-47 and 9.5% increase in damage taken between going from all blue armor (item lvls range 17-22) and stark nekkid.  This seems VERY weird to me.

Running around a bit testing out various mobs from lvl 11-16 2 and 3 dots I find similar results.  Very tight ranges of incoming damage each time and not very much difference in goign from fully clothed to nakid.

Is the system that simplistic?  Coming from EQ I'm so much more used to the more complex relation of AC to inc damage taken and much wider damage variations.

Does this change at higher levels?

Thanks for reading.

You can actually see your mitigation percentage if you hover your mouse over your AC in the character window.  With monks, our mitigation percentage is very small while we rely on our avoidance aka dodge and parry.  You can also see those stats if you hover over defense in the character window.  This is why high AC items won't make a lot of difference to your monk.  I hardly get any benefit from the huge AC buff from clerics, it really only adds a percentage or of mitigation (not looking at my character right now so can't say exactly).

That said, I really think our overall avoidance needs a boost..
