A change headed to test
Quote
- Protective Fighters - All penalties have been removed from your stances.

I see no reason why this should not trickle down to us as well.

They cant really do that without redesigning the stances completely with us.  The difference is that lets take a warrior for example.  He has a defensive stance and an offensive stance.  The ways there's work is that offensive stance can only use offensive abilities and defensive stance can only use defensive abilities.  So really they only get portions of their skills in each stance.  While in defensive stance they really do not have alot of abilities that do much damage.. So there is still a trade off.  If they removed the penalties from our stances there currently would not really be much of a tradeoff.

As Soluss explained so nicely, they do have different skillsets of stances then we do.
In general it's dangerous to just read some patch notes and assume something if you don't know the class well (that's not directed at you in any way - just shows a bit why all other classes always assume we are uber now after they read our patch notes Wink)

My main was a war I only got him to 27 before giving up and going on an alt spree trying to find something I enjoyed playing as much as my bruiser in eq2.  I finally decided to just stick with the monk for a while since they cant let us suck forever and I cant see how they could make them any worse..  I chose drunken mastery but I am thinking I should switch to dragon and see if its any better because this half ass stuff just aint cutting it for me.  Its sad that my war at lower levels 15-25 ish soloed much better than my monk.

Anyway the removal of the penalties from our stances was just a pipe dream..  Angry

Actually, only warriors have stance related abilities, Dread Knights and Paladins can (faik) use any ability regardless of stance.
However, the penalties they have are so tiny anyway (and one could argue, bonuses, but their defensive stances are rather powerful, but offensive aren't at all).
Monk offensive stances are probably the most powerful of all melee stances, but we also have the more powerful disadvantages (which could be argued are still dissmissable, Dragon/Drunken mitigation penality is non-existant if the monk in question isn't tanking, 20% endurance cost reduction of Ti (which does limit the choice of Aum though) or cleric/bear shaman (or both) makes the Harmonious penalty nearly non-existant.)

They aren't really comparative, even though they are all called stances, they operate diffrently because of the diffrent intents between archetypes (and even within archetypes there's diffrences).
