I like the back peddeling. My original post was to someone intimating that they had been stuck at level 33 and unable to level as a monk which fit into the OP of this thread that there are no high level monks because (I assume) we can't do anything post 30. I pointed out that there is many things to do. Quest line specific XP that in itself would push you to 40, really nice gear questlines that will help you survive an deal more damage.

But as with every Monk broken thread thats been posted since early 90's it becomes "well it's broke because class <insert class here> can do <insert cerrent whine here> better than me.

Then you get the idiotic comparrisons, I believe I speciffically stated that in the mid 20's a caster was killing 4 to my 1.. did I not? But as you are now finding out that XP death of even a recovered tombstone is the loss of about 7 kills, I noted that he had died thus wiping the advantage he was getting, which seems to me to be normal.

Then of all the worthless arguments it became Necro vs Monk  as a solo class. Anyone that has ever played this game would know just how stupid that comment is. I tried my hardest not to call anyone an idiot because maybe thier trolls, or maybe it is thier first time to play a monk and they just really don't understand the problems on a non plate wearing, non mitigating, avoidance mellee DPS class. Which I am led to believe based on the EQ1 monk comment that had me laughing.

But the more they post the more apparant it is they have no clue what they are talking about. Maybe it is scalaing, I noted the other night I prolly do twice the damage at 45 than I did at 40, Maybe it's itemization. I do not know.

It's funny that someone "who doesn't play past 30" says we are broke at 40 and then Incorrecttly states what we can or cannot do.

Just so it clear...
Like levels and gear

I out DPS all Defensive tanks
I out DPS Bards
I out DPS Rangers on fights less than 30 sec
I am close to DPS on Casters (definatly not Sun and No sun difference)
I do not know about rouges as there are never any around.

I am not special, I don't have the best gear I could have by a long shot.. But here is the facts
Unbuffed alone 350 DPS opening chains 7K secondary chains 3K
Median buffed 600 DPS opening Chains 11K to 15K , secondary chains 7K
Fully Buffed with Bard in Group (did not have a bard to check my DPS given rating last night) but opening chains 17 to 22 K (double crits) Legendary as high as 30K (thats 4 sec into a fight) , secondary chains 10K

Thats every fight. Thats where we are at, Yes that is using the nice Greystone weapon, but thats not that hard to get.

As far as the soloing quest in Ruin Falls, no it is not elitist at all, it was just one more place to add to the list I posted earlier where you can go to do quests post 30 because Quest XP > Grind XP.

So it does not matter to me if your Neccy could wave his hand and all the first born on the continent died. The fact is the monk is playable, is fun and is nowhere near as broke as you exagerently state. Tweaks aside, Vision aside, we are very playable. We are picked up soley for DPS in groups. If you were like me and started this game believing we were going to be pullers, well we aren't , every other class does that, but heh after 3 months I am enjoying just beating the hell out of mobs.

To Soulfyst or anyone else that wants to chime in. I am a 33 Dragon monk, switched from drunken. Soloing SW missives since 28.... I have now officially (in my guild) switched my main to my 31 DK due to the fact that i hate playing my monk anymore.

Where can i go at 33 that isn't group orientated, cause i have sat in wardship long enough LFG with no productive grouping, unless you count a full group of 30+ farming 3 Dot Blood Howlers. Any group going into VT falls apart before we even get down into the dungeon half the time.

I feel that unless a monk has a dedicated party, I have a monk in my DK's static party, which i can't really complain, its hard to play a monk in a group when no one really knows what a monk can do (though with all the changes/nerfs we have had, its hard to know what your role in your group is.(Even sigil doesn't have a clear vision of the monk, and if i read what the "monk" was suppose to be after they changed the class outline, i would not have played one)  I feel its just a hack and slash class, very similar to the boreing rogue class on WoW.

(A quick side note, my 31 DK out DPS's my monk by far. I never leave offensive stance, and i hold aggro like a champ.)

At 33, you could do the Starspark quests, Tarjanor. You could do many of the Craigwind Quests, You could start some of the Hunter Quests in Strandon. Better yet, you could try to get into some Graystone groups just north of Southwatch to start getting some of your 13 bloody insignias to get your 71DPS blade staff.

***EDIT*** Actually 33 is too low for greystone as I recall, those mobs are lvl 40, go do those first 3 then come back to southwatch and do the greystone quest. If you don't have Zank yet from CIS you might look into getting that (I assume you don't if a 31 DK is out damaging you) till then invest in some weapons, they are fairly cheap on the market.

Interesting to look back on this pic from May 2003.

I know it's only a screenshot but I can't help but wonder, what have they been doing in the last 4 years besides update the old T.King interface?  Sad
