You know, I haven't put more than an hour into my monk in a good 2-3 weeks now and just the other day when the changes finally started coming I thought, "Great, now I can play my main again."

Yeah okay.

It appears the developers sat up late one night and said, "Okay, so in about 5 minutes time how can we mess around with monks?" And they subsuquently rolled dice to see what changes they would make because the majority of these changes, especially to the abilities themselves, are horribly thought out and honestly do not change anything at all, specifically for Dragon monks. Wow my AoE attack does about 80 more damage while costing EVEN MORE End. Hot damn, what a fix.

I'm completely fed up with both being positive and waiting for this class to be properly fixed and quite honestly the frustration I feel is simply not worth it to me so I'm quitting my monk. Outside of minor stance tweaks we've seen nothing of real significance and I'll be damned if I'm told to just "have more patience." I'm sorry if that's not something a lot of you want to hear, but all I've done is wait from day one and received very little in return. I'm no longer in the frame of mind to accept both the quality and rate at which we're being fixed and as it stands we're far too one dimensional for my taste. I'm currently enjoying (frustration free, mind you) my alts and I intend to continue that for as long as Vanguard holds my interest.

To the devs: I have absolutely no idea what you guys are trying to accomplish, but the logic behind your actions is simply mind-boggling.

If my friend asked "Hey man, I'm just starting Vanguard which class should I play if I want to DPS?" I'd tell him he has 15 classes to choose from. Classes in general are far too capable of multiple roles (minus of course, the monk) and honestly classes feel more like copies of one another in Vanguard than they did in the much less complex but much more distinct (class wise) Everquest.

To VGMonks: I really appreciate all the effort you guys have put into both this game and our class with hopes of making a difference. I've played a lot of MMORPGs and rarely seen the kind of dedication and hard work shown here and I'd just like to thank you all for being a part of it. Also my best wishes to everyone.

To Quinn: You've done a fantastic job trying to do as much as you can given the circumstances. You are obviously not responsible for the actions of the developers and despite the difficulty of your position you've shown trememndous perseverence and this community should be glad to have you. Here's to hoping for the future.

Later.

My name is Zhengyi Tsung and i support this message.

I too am tired of waiting and waiting.  This game has cost me about $80+ and has given me nothing but frustration in return  and i feel like i deserve better than this.  I have tried to be active on the monk forums, putting out ideas, doing my best to get parses in and gathering info for the devs to make their lives easier and I still haven't gotten anything in return.  I'm with Ryoku.  This is BS and i'm done with it.  Thanks for being a great community, i'm sorry it turned out this way.  I might be back (i'll probably troll the forums for a little while).  Probably not, im researching AoC and Warhammer Online right now and I would encourage you guys to check those games out.  AoC isn't due out till october 30 but it has 10x the polish of vanguard already and looks like a great innovative combat system (and the graphics actually look equal to or better than Vanguard EASILY).  Warhammer has fun looking PVP and RVR and is definately worthy of a look (thought it looks like WoW, BLEH!).

So with the last amount of advice i have in me sent to you.  I wish you guys good luck, and i hope they finally pay attention to you and fix the monk class.  I may continue to play on PVP with my uber cleric, but if i get in the beta of AoC i'll probably be done with vanguard for a long time.  So sad, it had so much potential.

Later Ladies.

This is so people will realize (or be reminded) that there are other games out there we have to look forward too.  Some companies seem to have it together.  Take it or leave it, love it or hate it (or me), but these games look fantastic!

(for the AoC stuff you can go to http://www.gametrailer.com/gthd.php?page=10&plattyfilt=&letter=A&s_cc=true&s_sq=[]&plattyfilt=&letter=A&s_cc=true&s_sq=[]
and load it yourself, these links i've made seem to be taking forever)

ya know the casters are the most powerful solo class out there ive seen caster mow thru content solo that would take me hours to go thru.

but yet i stick with my class  and what do i come home to after a hard days at work?.

my monk that worked so hard for that cloak from tk now looks like a table cloth with a string around my monks neck.

there no ryme or reason for it at all, if that doesnt get fixed ive got some serious thinking to do bout this game.

I'm done as well.

Good luck all. This latest patch was the last slap in the face I'm gonna stomach. My post "A Monk over the edge" is on the General Discussion of silkyvenom. I go into a fair bit of detail as to why being a PvP Monk is a nightmare.

It's a shame that personally both AoC and LOTR MMO's are very unappealing to me. They're not the MMORPG I am striving for, sadly that is Vanguard.

Although my patience for the Monk class has run out, as I have stated I found joy in a few other classes and I'm hoping Vanguard does nothing but improve with time.

Those who defend monks in their current state have simply never played another class to the level of their monk and beyond. The disparity is mind boggling.

I've given up a while ago, but still drop in occasionally to see how things are going. It's a shame to see I seem to have made the right decision, though. =/  Good luck to those of you still toughing it out, hopefully you're rewarded for it instead of stuck waiting for ages. I was drawn to Vanguard by EQ1 monk nostalgia, but unfortunately the best thing they've captured from that was the waiting on every patch with baited breath to just be disappointed every time. Kudos on that, Sigil?

I have played my 25 monk one evening in the last 4 weeks. It was my main. I can't say I have run out of patience, rather just putting the monk in the freezer for the time being. I'm now maintaining two shaman for two different static groups and a necro for solo play.

Sad really, I liked the monk.

Also, I'm not going to play the tough it out and get all at 50 game. I play these games for the journey, not the end.

Agreed about that.

Stopping my 35 harm monk for now - been chatting with many players as i grouped all along my levels, been parsing logs - as someone said here or on silkyvenom some times ago, i just feel like a dead weight on my group leeching xp... I'll keep my monk in case it becomes better some day, but i'm gonna roll for some real damage dealer now.

VG monk is nothing but a joke next to EQ1 monk, which is what made me roll it up first.

Yep.  I'm out too.

Not knowing if the dev's think the recent 'updates' where meant to address the Monk class or whether there is a more thorough rethink in the pipeline is the final straw.  I even rolled a ranger just in case the suckyness was specific to Offensive Fighters generally (having played Sorc and Tanks and they are all fun!) and I have to say the Ranger absolutely blows the monk away in every respect (damage, utility, overall usefulness, ability to utilise a wider range of loot, and above all the fun factor).  For those of you that are enjoying the monk class or even just toughing it out, I salute you, and I wish you the very best of luck, but I do suggest you try some other classes, because if you like the Monk you're going to LOVE the other classes!!!!

Anyway sorry for the whinge (I detest class-whingers...but this case is imho totally justified), and good luck!

/salute

P.S. I am still smarting over the fact that I claimed all my CE rewards on my monk, worked up Diplo and Crafting (and even based my crafting choice on this as a main).....grrrr!!!!

Yeah, EQ1 monk had some problems (mainly mitigation, frail druid caster in the same leather armor mitigating better than someone who "honed their body into a weapon"!) but it was still rather functional. Could do respectable damage and I had my fun hectic raid pulling. Hell, even just feign pulling for a random xp group felt alot better than....this. The main use I have on Vanguard is the Kojani racial, yay for helping a little in a pinch once every half an hour that any other Kojani class can do! Now I miss my old EQ1 chaotic pulling Sad
