Just got the monk claw from pantheon quest and it's rated at 40.44 dps.  This is on par with the healer hammer which is rated at 40.36 dps but it's far below the dagger (45.50) and the 1h sword (45.33).

Why is it that we finally get a new weapon put in where every other class had one and it's given the healer dps instead of being on par with the other light fighters?

I'm sure Fusoya will show up and tell me that I'm using it incorrectly and that it's actually 50 dps for him.

Because it has 2% to crit on it.  Crit takes a lot of point that they usually put into dps.  I hope it gets changed soon.

I use two of those weapons, and I do MASSIVE amounts of damage, mainly because I crit so much.  The actual hits are insane also.  Very good weapon!

I mean, i don't think you're using it incorrectly.  Maybe if you tried holding it in your mouth and sticking your head between your legs while standing on one foot and rubbing your stomache while spining around upside down hopping on one foot you can get about 20 extra DPS out of it.

or you can just wear it like every other monk in your primary slot, whatever you want

My question is why is it 5 dps less than the short sword and dagger.  Yes it has 2% crit chance but the short sword and dagger both have 1% to crit chance.  So for 1% more chance to crit we lose 12% damage?  You realize you crit higher with a higher damage weapon right?

5 DPS is not huge.  Boost your strength if you aren't doing damage.  I do a ton with these weapons.

It's 12% more than you which means that rangers/rogues/bards do a ton of damage +12%.  We can all brag about how we have them and how we do a ton of damage but my question is why do the others do 12% more?  If you do a ton with these but rangers get a weapon that does twice as much, are you ok with that?  Just be happy cause you're doing a ton already.

40 to 45 DPS isn't 12% diffrence unless you have 0 strength - you normally have a lot more than that.
The most probable reason to it is because they were implanted as disciple weapons and were thus given healer DPS values - the easiest way to get that fixed would be to give developers notice that monks also lack weapon and it's rather unfair to penalize their only choice so that it's tuned for healers.
In general though, those weapons are really overpowered (pretty much like CIS weapons were pre-nerf) for their level.

Thing is these are the best 1h items in game as far as I know which means they are and end game item as it stands right now.  I just find it ironic that with the way the dps parses out between melee classes that the best 1h weapon we can get has less dps than that of the other light fighters.   So apparently this is the disc weapon and ours is still coming! Yay =P

You have godking (54), torchbearer (56) and aluul (69) fists, which are quite better, I suppose.

DPS on the weapons doesnt really matter, yet (till auto attack is fixed) Just look at the weapon damage range and stats.

I won't argue with ya that monk itemization is borked. I'm actually thinking about trading my off hand weapon in for pantheon ulak tbo. Has simliar damage even though its 14dps lower. Kinda sad that a level 35 quest item is as good as spawned elite level 53 6 dot mob's. We need major item overhauls to help fix our DPS issues.

I'd give up calculated DPS for a slower delay, i think pantheon weapon is moving towards that a bit, im not familiar with the exact stats. But it seems to have a higher delay (and therefore damage range)  then previous monk items would have had and +2% crit is worth a bit of damage (atleast for offhand, as it recieves a damage penalty anyways). Not to mention only half of our abilities are affected by weapon damage to begin with...

So here is my reply at your request Dena <3 =P.
