Just picked up this ability and am wondering if I am missing something.  Does this have any practical value whatsoever?

It's fun, that's about it. Great for exploring and getting places fast. If it had the global cooldown removed, then it could have some sweet uses in combat. Soaring Leap, then mid leap hit Storm Stride then Crescent Kick...too bad they didn't think of some skills that could only be used while in the air to make better use of Soaring Leap

If you hit jump and click soaring leap like immediately after you can jump a lot further =D   Mess with it a bit and get the timing down and it is awesome.  If you're on a pvp server it has tons of potential.  Last night i got on the very very top of the 6 dot nameds throne in graystone, and no one would ever think to look for you up there, i promise.  So if a group comes in killing named wati for them to fight it and rain down shurikens on their caster and teleport down and pown the healer while they are fighting. BWAHAHAHHAAHHAAHAH!

Exactly why I think its level should be lowered, give us lower monks something fun to enjoy while they tinker with the class.  Wink

Soaring Leap is not only useful  it is so awesome!
it makes us litarly the fastest unmounted class in the game,  and we can use it mounted as well,  the only thing that will be faster is flying mounts  not only that but the uselfulness of jumping over rocks,  jumping UP rocks,  there are someplaces  a monk can get to where levi can't (although there are still places levi can and monk can't as well)

It is just a beautiful idea they added

ROFL so I just bought the 10g level 30 horse that's +60 speed, AND some +35 speed horseshoes for 15g, so I'm running around at about 200 speed now.... that + soaring leap = I'm probably the fastest person on the server.

I've had it for 2 levels and it is great fun and has some excellent uses.

I just wish you could also use it to jump "up", i.e. like a Jedi to get to ledges 15' above you. It will get you somewhat up a grade that you can't run up, but it won't send you actually vertical.

Not complaining though, it is a lot of fun  Wink

I wish Soaring Leap was a toggled ability that drained END and operated like Super Leap did in CoH. Maybe put a cap on height at 15/20 feet though.

Thats how I figured it would be when I first got it, I was suprised to find out it really just throws you upward slightly and forward a decent bit when clicked. I also really like the ability and when you get use to it, it is really nice for traveling. I think it would be pretty cool if they added a slightly lower level version that was more of an upward jump - exactly like the guy that tosses ya over the fence at that lighthouse on Thestra. Call it like "Leap of the Clouds" make it a level 24 ability with around a 15 Endurance cost.

Soaring leap can allow you to skip so much stuff in dugeons, Jump up on a obstacles and then /rope your group members up! Ive used it countless times in the golem area of thelaseen to beat groups to the boss. Just jump on the railing and rope your members up and then jump down!!. also some stuff in dungeons you can jump up on and safely recover your dead allies in a CR with repops.
