I just can't decide which.  Undecided   Its Drunken or Dragon style though, could someone explain what kind of stances they get / what kind of abilities they get? Hehe thanks.

Go harmonious, right now they have the best stance of all monks. Dragon offensive stance is a joke, Drunken offensive stance is decent but harmonious stance gets a +20% crit which opens up our finishers, which is the meat and potatoes of our dps.

Definately harmonious.  The debuffs let you do more damage than the dragon, plus using jin point stance you NEVER run out of jin points.

Drunken stance cool becasue you can taunt off mobs and use counterattacks to deal damage (which cost no end, basically free damage!)

I don't care too much for dragon style until you get lvl 30.  The damage from the attacks is mediocre, i seem to do more with harmonious.  The good thing about dragon style is you get a stun at 30, other than that might as well play harmonious.

I have played dragon style from 15-29 and harmonious from 30-34 and i like harmonious much more.  I was thinking about trying out drunken stance because i thought it woudl be fun to pull aggro for 2 attacks and do counterattack damage.  Rescuing back and forth with a paladin is also a potential DPS bombshell, hehe.

Harmonious- monks tend to forget one thing:

Even though your stances are doubtless better than the dragon stance, the extra attacks you get by meditating are not everyones taste. Dragon Style extra attacks are more bluntly damage based- which I like.

Another thing being harmonious is, if you want to play really efficient, you have to switch stances a lot and each stance requires its own weapon.

I ended up having a makro for Tiger stance that equipped a double crit staff, one for Jin stance that equipped handwraps and one for the defensive stance, using a sword. Every fight I gained Jin in Defensiv or Jin- Stance before I switched to Tiger and spammed Ashen Hand until I changed back. Efficient but stressful.
That was before I changed back to dragon style, doing blunt and clean damage.

I went dragon style with lvl 15 and loved it till now.
I tink ill give harmonious a chance and try it for some time but with dragon i was always doing incredible good dmg (i only use my fists - no weapons ) I stay in dragon (dps) stance almost 100% of my time. I only switch stances when my group is dead (i have to FD).

I play harmonious stnace and i almost ALWAYS stay in jin stance.  I don't really see the need to switch back and forth between the other 2 stances unless im tanking.

The defensive stance takes away some of our damage while negating a bit of endurance cost.  I HATE sacrificing damage, especially since we kinda gimped in that department already, and damage is our job.  The end buff is kinda nice, but after they adjusted the end stuff on our abilities i don't run out of end anymore.

The offensive stance boosts crit chance at a huge cost to end.  Not worth it imo, since i crit rather often anyway.

So i stay in jin stance because i almost NEVER run out of jin so i can easily balance end attacks and jin attacks and never run out of either.  Special attacks the whole fight FTW!

I am a harmonious monk and I stay in tiger almost religiously.  I switch to Jin stance out of combat when moving.  I don't see jin stance offer me anything at all in combat.  If you have full jin in this stance, it is because you don't have the endurance cost of tiger so you spam more abilities, not because of the regen with the stance.  I don't run out of endurance much in groups in tiger stance, but I do when I solo.  I almost never use crane stance.

Tiger stance is generally more effective, the diffrence in critrate is very obvious (even more so when you switch to another stance from being in Tiger a while) and the endurance cost is manageable.
The diffrence is even more once/if you start using two-handers, which dosen't receieve the crit bonuses as light weapons (ie various fists) does, but recieves immense damage boosts from crits (in particularly ashen hand does this - I was (with bard though) making normal 2k8 crits with it and the dwarven staff of bashing) and indeed making Tiger stance a choice of preference for these weapons. At 40, you will recieve Aum Ti, which reduces the endurance penalty.

Wow, thanks for the help guys! I didnt know about this "Jin Stance" till now. Harmonious body style gets debuffs and good damage then? Or do you buff yourself with the debuff like a lifetap ability?  coolsmiley

To change your discipline talk to the Grand Master again. He'll send you on a quest. I'm drunken right now, but I'm seriously considering changing to harmonious.

After finishing the quest for the Harmonious style yesterday (it was a pain for me as a goblin *g*)
I played around with the Tiger/Jin Stance and i must say you get out of endurance (ooe) veeery fast in Tiger Stance.
The 20% Crit Bonus is nice.. but after 2 finishers you are ooe and have to wait to use another chain/finisher.
I dont think my DPS went up incredibly with Tiger using bare fists.
So i went to the Broker and bought some blue bladed staff (there was not one yellow 2hander at the broker with decent dps ratings) and went training in 2hand piercing and bladed staff Wink
My Skill is around 160now in 2hand piercing and i can see some very good hits from time to time 1800-2000dmg with a single hit (the 2handers are slow though)

I was speaking to some other Monks on my server yesterday too and i found a drunken style monk (rare.. very rare) who is staying in the 10% haste stance most time and likes it.. Ill give that a try too when i have got the time Tongue
I like the moves with a bladed staff alot more then the "boxing" moves you can see using fists.
But they could have done way more of that.. its like 2-3 animations for x different attack skills..
Just go to a kung fu school and watch someone practicing forms and you will notice there is more than 2-3 attack strikings you can do with a bladed staff Wink

As far as I can say (for me)
Naked Fists - dragon style
2 Handers with crit bonus- harmonious

Dragon doesn't do much more damage than Harmonious - Probably less when you factor in a Harmonious monk who is using their stances to it's full potential.
You also give up a lot of potential utility and evasion by going Dragon.

Storm Stance: Not bad, but it doesnt' scale with level, and it doesn't stack with secrets so that mitigates a lot of the damage gained.

Dragon Stance: Probably broken. If not, totally useless. The health regen is not even measurable, either in combat or out of combat.

Stone Stance: It adds 5% mitigation to me, which effectively doubles the AC of my average medium armor. It has a 20% haste reduction that means nothing given the way weapon speed works in this game.
Sounds good, but I don't notice much difference in survivability with the added mitigation. I'd rather kill my target faster with Storm Stance.
The only time I'll use Stone stance is if I only care about surviving, like in a team situation where I have aggro, so I pull out the wind blade and switch to storm stance. Since I don't care about doing damage in such circumstances, I'll take any AC boost I can get, however minor.
