Ryyn and I could pretty much take agro off of Kinky, as he was still trying to learn new abilities he just got at 18.  I was much squishier than the ranger though, and had to feign death several times when they couldn't get agro off me fast enough.

I'm surprised at how much DPS it says I was churning out.  I'm also not sure that I trust the calculations where it lists my party members with just a first name and with their whole name.  That could easily throw off the average swing times, which throw off their DPS calculations.

This is actually quite easy to calculate:

Simply add the two "total damage" figures, then the Total Time in Combat ones and finally the Total Hits.

DPS = Total Time / Total Damage
DPH = Total Damage / Total Hits

This should work until I get either a fix from Sigil (unlikely - I'd rather them fix our class than monkey with log file code) or a solution in the parser code (maybe I can group the first names with the "most likely" first name / last name combination or something...)

DPS = Total Time / Total Damage

I think you have that upside down.  It would be DPS = Total Damage / Total Time

These combined numbers for Kinky seem a bit low for me, but we did take agro from him pretty easily.  The number for Ryyn look more like I would have expected given our level and class differences.

I have to be honest here... while the numbers provided thus far are all well-and-good, it does nothing to show much of anything.

What we need are numbers from classes like rogues, rangers, etc (classes we know do more DPS than us). I mean, parses of monks verse Dis just are not very meaningful. We already know we out damage them... the issue is, we fell so far behind Rangers and Rogues it's unreal. That's where the focus of our parses should be. Similar level ranger/rogue.. grouped with similar level monk.

sarmone's post seems to be the most meaningful thus far (especially proving we are way below rangers). We just need more like it.

I'd beg to differ.

If you are grouped with the other classes, that is easiest for comparison, as the data can be taken to the devs without any additional work on their end.

But even solo you can contribute information that will be helpful as the devs look at what we're capable of doing.  They will just have to look at what other classes are capable of doing against those same mobs at equivalent levels.  That's why I'm including notes about my level and the level and dots of the mobs I'm fighting.

To be honest, I don't usually fight beside rangers, rogues, or bards.  However, I certainly feel I can contribute data to the overall discussion, because what I'm providing is a number for my dps at my level, that can be looked at to see if that is how they expect I should be performing, or if I'm underperforming, or overperforming, and by how much.  I've been in Quinn's position in two other MMOG's, so I'm familiar with what types of data the devs need, and what sorts of information they have at their end to compare our data too.

There is nothing stopping you from comparing your own DPS against any other class in the game, player, pet, or NPC.  You don't even have to be grouped with them, or have their consent.  If you see something interesting in-game, simply get close enough and parse the log file to see where that character comes out - vs yourself, vs their target, vs other players, and so on.

I love numbers... they rarely lie. Just be aware of the following.

  • Level of player A vs. Level of player B
  • Stats of said players
  • Gear of said players.

That last one is huge. Since it skewes the results. I personally try to use weapons that are 18% / 19% EE at all times to get me the most bang for my buck.

I took several long log files while I was grinding xp in the Panthenon of the Ancients..... I think you even see me get killed by the super snake lol (Talk about a bad pull!!! lol ) I would realliy like to see where we stand vs. Ranger and Rogues.

The 2 6d bosses.. spent a while down there.  We tried to fight them once... before I could even hit the FD button, the tank was dead, the healer dead, then I was dead.  I think my guild had some higher level people kill them and they didnt drop a thing 9-/

I agree, lots of preef that our DPS is lacking.  I am sure that the devs CAN do more static testing (i.e. testing done with same level of characters, same level of equipment, ect).

*** Tal said that there would be something more in week or so on monks, last week.  Any idea of when we will hear anything?

As for weapons, Zank (Bladed Staff) is a 46? DPS 2hander.  The Martial staff that is from the Arena coin turn-ins is about a 50.something 2h martial staff with a lot better stats for a monk than Zank.  Question is, is it worth it when in the same area you can get gear that provide +67 to Hand to hand skill?
