Whenever I try to use storm stride on an enemy it doesn't teleport me behind like it says in the description. Instead the attack just lands as if it were a ranged attack but I don't teleport anywhere. Does anyone else have this problem, or know how to fix it?

It has been a known bug since beta. I just think they haven't gotten to us monks yet. There are several problems with our skills so I think it will be coming eventually.

Currently, this will work correctly if I'm in a party that is already engaged in combat. For example, if I'm in a group and someone else leads off the attack, I use the ability to teleport behind the foe. However, if I lead off with this ability, it simply works like a ranged attack as you stated. Try letting someone else attack before you use the ability.

This ability has worked fine for me while soloing. I always use it from melee range. I know its pointless while soloing but I have tried it several times and it works every time so far.

Storm Strike does work at times but not all the time. It seems to be random. Though I might try and see if the issues with leaidng the attack has any effect.
So far it will either work or I'll get a message to the effect that the skill in question (at this point Bundless Fist 1 or II, Crecent kick 1 or II) cannot be use with warp"
Not totally sure the "point" since I am not someone who crunches numbers but I would have to assume AC is lower or something for a rear attack.
Thought it would be near for when working with a rogue who needs its back for a stab.

There are also those with skills that get a bonus for having a group member "flanking" the target. I can't speak to the other tanking classes, but many skills I had when I tried paladin had this ability. So, not only might it affect your ability directly to do damage (if there is indeed "weaker" spots in a target's armor) it also benefits certain skills and such of other classes to have someone behind the mob.

Rogues and Dreadknights have them too, or did in beta. Haven't found any monks ones that get positional bonuses yet.

You only warp behind the mob if the mob has agro on anything, otherwise it acts like a ranged attack. I hope they do not address this soon since I use it to pull mobs and the range is greater than shurikens. The problem with using it to pull with it when in a group is if the tank shoots the mob while you are pressing the attack buttons then you will warp to the mob as it is running to the tank. Otherwise I like it just the way it is.

I kinda like the broken version too. I also use it for pulling... saves money on shurikens. =p
