Monks and dreadknights seem somewhat similar in abilities in vanguard.  I buffed a Dread to lvl 35 and pvped for a while.  They have many good abilites: Shadow Veil ( invis plus 15% speed),  words (harm touch), and many good attacks which make them awesome.  I didn't get to play a monk at lvl 35, so I was wondering how they pvped and what classes were hard to beat.  I pvped with my lvl 10 monk, and it was often hard to kill people becuase my chains took so long that other classes would have me dead by then.  If anyone has a lot of experience with monk pvp I would like to know everyting about it.  Thanks

In my experience Monks tend to have a hard time killing other melee dps classes or a chain kiting class.  I have beaten my friend who plays a dreadknight numerous times, though our fights were fairly even.  I have ripped just about every squishy I have seen apart too.  Rangers, Blood Mages, and Shaman tended to be the hardest thing I have had to fight.  I can not comment on bard as I never ended up going 1v1 with one.

Generally I have enjoyed Monk as a PvP class, the teleport is really nice.  I can only speak of pvping up to lvl 18 though, as when I tried to make a 35 Orc Monk last night, Martok went down and the buffer was gone.  I was really looking forward to getting the buff so I could see almost exactly what I should expect to be playing when release comes.

Not generally into pvp, but at 35, i dueled my dreadknight friend and was promptly killed in about 5 seconds flat.
Then i asked her to rematch without using them nasty word spells (i win buttons) and i won by a big margin.

Also note all the word spells individually are on seperate timers, so in any normal duel its not going to be easy to beat one unless they resist or something

Chances are, they will balance this like they did in EQ - nerf skills that on PvP servers that give a player an unfair advantage using a skill that was designed and balanced for PvE. Angry

Well, they could just buff resists, they did that too in EQ pvp...  You can't have some classes one-shotting everything they see.  Smiley
