Hello all fellow monks.  I have just recently come back to play VG again after some time off. I was going to start another toon but within a few lvls i found myself rolling another monk ( I currently have a 36 Dragon Monk on another server).

So at lvl 16 i decided to try the Harm style this time and im less than impressed so far, im currently 18. Do i just tough it out and Harm will get better or shall i switch to dragon till i get a bit higher in lvls where harm may be a bit better.

Most of my play time right now is grouping with a couple freinds that are droods.

Id say tough it out.   Harmonious are by far the easiest to solo with.

try using defensive stance and parry swords and all the debuffs you can.

It will be far slower then dragon but you will have more hp at the ends of fights, aka less down time between kills.  At higher levels you will find you can kill harder mobs then a dragon can.

I agree with Fujitsu. Although the Harmonious monk starts out slower than the Dragon style, you will soon enough find yourself able to solo just about everything you'd need to. Even then, the Harmonious monk's debuffs are great not only for solo but for grouping as well. Haromious monks make a good tank for small groups like your duo/trio with the druids.

Mainly stick with the Crane stance like Fujitsu said, but be sure you make use of your tiger stance using "Ashen Hand" when you've got extra Jin to waste & plenty of hps, you could even use the tiger stance for your special/chain attacks to maximize damage outcome Wink

Many things in life are missed when people do not stick with something to find the full potential or end results  Wink

Ok i will stick with it and see where it leads.  I know its fairly easy to change if i want to also. The only referance i had was my dragon monk and normally there i grouped with a Disiple Cleric and a Shammy, so healing wasnt as much as an issue as it is now with just a drood.

I'm a level 45 Harmonius Monk, and I have really been enjoying this discipline. I switched to drunken briefly, but ended up coming back to Harmonius. Like the other monks have mentioned, it is great for soloing. I can pretty easily kill red 3-dots and even dark blue 4-dots, although its certainly not efficient. We do have some good debuffs like Eagle Claw and the North Wind line. I basically always lead off with those and then activate my ability to cast slow on my target and haste on myself

Another great benefit of Harmonius is Diamond body. It grants +30% armor class and auto cures things like curses and poisons. Its also a permanent buff. One area where I deviate from the other suggestions, is that I often fight in my neutral Jin Stance, rather than the defensive Crane stance. I just find its easier for me to maintain high levels of Jin that way, and since there is no damage penalty, I can mow through mobs before taking much damage. In any difficult fight though, I will always switch to Crane stance and sometimes equip a martial sword.

No matter what discipline you pick though, you really can't go wrong with the monk. I have always like offensive fighters and my main is a rogue. The viability of a monk vs. a rogue in solo play is just night and day. Also, in the end game, feign death is VASTLY more useful than stealth. You can't stealth anywhere in APW or even Old Targ for crying out loud. Pantheon will probably be the same way.

I loved that Panheon on my other monk. I ended up walking out of there with 2 of the fist weapons
