I want to clear up misinformation given in various forms and by various sources regarding the update to the Sorcerer.
Test Server Information
The data currently on Test is broken. None of the ability records were copied over to the Test Server correctly/completely and this caused many of the changes to be buggy. Please do not use this data as an indication for our intentions as you will most likely be lead astray.
This is currently being worked on and will be updated with the correct data ASAP.
Sorcerer Class Changes and GU5
Goals for the Sorcerer Update
Fix the single button spamming "strategy" of the class
Make the class more group friendly
Adjust abilities that didn't have a purpose or were lame to use
Fix bugs
"I thought this update was supposed to move us to the top of the DPS charts..."
Nowhere in this list was the goal to move you to the top of the current DPS list. I was asked several times where, in the end, the sorcerer was to be on the overall DPS curve. I answered that question with a list. There are no specific numbers or dates attached to that list on purpose. I hesitated even releasing a list and it appears I hesitated for good reason.
There will be a combat balancing pass done during GU6. During this pass we are addressing the DPS discrepancy between caster and melee classes, adjusting NPC HPs, class DPS, etc.
We will be using current caster DPS as our top end for balancing, NOT current melee DPS. We are going to move the Sorcerer to the top of the caster DPS then, when GU6 balancing pass is complete, they will be on top of the overall DPS list.What does all this mean and how does this apply to me?
We have decided to postpone the Sorcerer changes until GU6. The changes will still be the same (or with small adjustments to be determined during the process of balancing) as they are now. We are going to release them at the same time as the GU6 combat balancing pass. Following this path for updating will allow everything to fall in line and will not leave the Sorcerer out in the cold during the time in between GU5 and GU6.

I am currently in the process of finding a new Sorcerer class lead. I would like to thank Jades for his input and enthusiasm toward the Sorcerer class.

The fixed data going to Test that I was referring to applies mostly to other classes considering the SOR changes will be reverted. The problem with Test messed up all abilities that were changed, not just Sorcerer ones.
Also, the Sorcerers are not receiving any updates until GU6. If something sneaks through, it is a bug and we need to know about it.
I want to make it clear that melee DPS is as high as it is right now due to the amount of bugs in the ability processing pipeline. Furthermore, most of these bugs present themselves when players are raiding and so the GU6 changes should not affect group/ soloing very much at all. However, we still reserve the right to balance the group/solo areas of the game.
The GU6 update combat balancing will be mostly, but not limited to, fixing these bugs and straightening things out.
The reason that we don't just raise caster damage to equal melee damage is because the melee damage currently exists because of bugs and we don't want to build the game around a buggy base - I think everyone can agree with that.
Yes, when we lower overall raid DPS we will have to lower raid NPC HPs. The amount these are lowered is yet to be determine -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You saw, that your changes were "crap" and that you have to code more then you thought.
So you are going to delay our revamp to GU6 because then you have the time to do the nessesary changes for sorcerer you didnt like to do before.

I cant really think that you did 2 weeks of a sorcerer revamp, then release this disaster on the testserver and never mentioned the delay to GU6 before our classleader.
Personaly i think what you are doing now is to apply the emergency brake because you saw that you have done something wrong.
Its okay to do it now...
But please - next time think of those things more carefully - then you wouldnt have had such a big outcry from your
community!

I think that Avair was pretty clear in his post. The changes that have been made are what you can expect in U6, barring some minor tweaks that may occur based on feedback from test server and the new class lead. The CV change is happening. We are only altering the timing of the changes. We decided to do this based on some internal testing and the testing and observations of a few of our class leads. I don't want people to be confused-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------this is good news as well the internal testing part at least we know all of the monks status wont be based on some other class lead log parsers on the pet monkey exploites.
