You cant cast at all while on a flying mount

Casting while on a ground mount dismounts you.

As a monk i dont get the big deal.  Sure we cant put our 3 buffs up on  run to camp and cant use soaring leap, but honestly why is everyone freaking out?

The only thing i can think of is people who have to heal while on mounts in order to get past dificult areas or people who have to invis while mounted to bypass stuff?

Theres no way theres so many people crying because they "can no longer buff people as they ride by"

Do you know what the reason was for the change fug?

I guess I don't get the cause for it.  Kind of a trivial difference for the most part either way to me.  Maybe I'm missing something important though?

Will be ironic WAAAAY down the road when they start working on mounted combat...and then you can do practically everything from a mount...  Wink

Of course...maybe its only ironic to me.   Smiley

Yeh i noticed while on test i could no longer use Soaring Leap while on my shadowhound, without being dismounted.
A big nerf to monk travel speed!  tickedoff

You might say monks shouldn't have been faster than bards in the first place, but lets be honest, bards are faster than horses!!! which is the most preposterous?!  idiot2
Master of the mind and body moving faster........guys that drink ale and sing in taverns moving faster.....
Who would win a race, Bruce Lee or Elvis?
I believe my logic is clear  Grin

I really enjoyed soaring over the hills and trees, at one with the wind and environment, utilising the contours of the earth for more fluid and effective movement. It was like something from DragonBallZ!!  Cheesy

Needless to say i went to bed that night crying.....with swollen blood-shot eyes, and a sunken heart  Cry

Yeah the reason is people using "buffs" as exploits or sometime.  Id assume to steal or bypass content.  Overall not a big deal to monks more of nerf to people with lulls.

From what i could figure out
1) Fly in and lull until your target resists (this agros target)
2) fly high enough that target follows but other targets dont agro
3) pull mob to saftey

This works similarly on horses so they made flying mounts no cast, and it auto dismount on land mounts.

I too always use Soaring Leap while on my shadowhound.

Leaping past scenery was a real nice touch, hardly exploiting tho. Its a shame real Exploiters ruin such pleasant things  buck2

Well you know what they say....bring enough whine and some cheese is bound to show up.

From what i can tell they almost completly removed the change on test

From what i hear its only stuff that puts you in combat that dismounts you.

yup, soaring leap works on mounts again,   personally i think it sets a bad standard.  Its just teaching people if they whine enough theyll get their way

It's a hard balance to stop exploits and still give versatility that players want.
If it stops exploits, then more power to them....
either way do we care?  i cant see it

It's giving in to the loud sobs that caused alot of problems in this game since beta and beyond

Actually, the change was intended apparently. The problem was it wasn't working the way the devs had intended. It was only supposed to dismount you on buffs if you had agro. (of any form)

Apparently just some miscommunication.

Matsu to be honest i wouldn't be surprised if the change was intended as it was but due to the large ammount of complaints they changed it slightly.

I talked to a few devs before it was reverted each one said that it was working like intended and that its how it would be to prevent changes.  I think its more accurate to say the developers hadn't experienced the reaction they got.

Its also possible (has happened quite a few times) that someone simply got their wires crossed.

I know just the other day my wife petitioned that her vetran rewards were not showing up and the GM told her it was a "glitch that they were showing up for anyone yet as it is ment to launch with GU4"  ... never mind the minor detail that its a front page artical on vgplayers.  Wink

Left hand doesn't always talk well with the right foot.  But your suggestion Fuj is just as likely to be true imo.  Smiley

In any case not really a big deal in the grand scheme of things.  To me anyway.

Yeah as monks either way the change ment next to nothing.  We loasting soaring leap on mounts and that just ment it was time to upgrade mounts.

It was like i was saying though, people proximty (or buff ) agroing stuff then healing them selfs to generate hate so the mob would follow them.  This was done mainly on flying mounts but could have been done on land mounts.

Silius stated that the change was permanent and intended, but he didn't think all of what we were seeing was intended.

I'm sure he meant the fact that the regular self buffs and non-combat spells dismounting you.

It is now the way it should have been to begin with. They solved the exploit portion without affecting those of us who use normal abilities while mounted.

I don't know about the rest of you but when I'm mounted I am always using soaring leap. Depending on the terrain we can travle as fast if not faster than bards in alot of these cases. With a maxed out shadowhound and soaring leap we could get around pretty quick when nedded.
