I was curious if anyone had experience with the various styles in pvp, and what they preferred.  I have heard dragon is the best which makes sense since the faster you kill the better, but I don't know if this is true after damage was lowered across the board.

I'm assuming drunken is probably the worst since you don't need taunts and such in pvp (unless they do something akin to EQ2 - forced targetting)  But can't decide about harmonious.  Any opinions?  Smiley

Stances won't really save us unless we get a slow/root/stun in my opinion.  Every other class gets this stuff so we get kited to death all the time.

Hard choice but my vote is for harmonius. Crit is just so nice to pass up but even more important is to get your shuriken skill up. Trust me, you will be using them a lot and it isn't unusual to win a fight just using them.

I know this is an old thread, but I just recently made the switch from dragon to harmonious and let me tell everyone...

Harmonious owns up! The fact that you can regen jin in harmonious body leaves us to hardly, if ever to be caught without jin which is a definite plus. The Tiger stance (i think as I'm still new) Allows us to crit a rediculopus amount. Withering Palm is your friend, use it as often as possible. It may cost 6 jin but it does a ton of damage and it debuffs while buffing yourself.

I have to say, over the last 2 days playing a harmonious monk, I have learned to appreciate our class a lil more.

I almost decided to quit my monk altogether, but after this. I am pretty satisfied. I mean, we still need a snare/root and one I win button even if it takes 20 jin with a 10 min cooldown or something rediculous, I just think we need one amazing ability. Until then, I am pretty content for now. I pretty much only have a difficult time with shamans and clerics but other than that, 1v1 a harmonious monk can do well!

Jin Regen and + to crit..... Yeah it's hard to pass up that in a PVP environment. Since I went drunken though I feel as I am doing my fair share of damage still although Jin is not quite so plentifull..

slight derail here..........

Now keep in mind I dont PVP much but pretty much just duel every so often.

My favorite macro

/combatformset "Offensive Stance X"
/wear "Uber 2 Hander of Death and destruction"
/cast "Secret of Celerity"
/cast "Errant Strikes"   Drunken Monk only
/cast "Quickening Jolt" Get to know a Blood Mage
/cast "Storm Stride"
/cast "Crescent KIck X"
/cast "Spinning Fists X" (Insert any auto crit ability here)

Continue chain and watch the fun.....

Any thoughts on how to improve on this???

I dont macro mine quite like yours. All my macros are set for each of my abilities to have my best finishers go off if open first, all the way down to my actual ability...example :

/cast "Steal the Wind III" (debuffing counterattack)
/cast "North Wind Snaps the Limb II"
/cast Celestial Kick of the Master I"
/cast "Kick of the Heavens III"
/cast "Flying Kick V"
/cast Withering Palm I"

what this does is it allows me to be sure to ALWAYS use my finishers when they are available...it prevents me from getting attack happy and not getting to use it.

I don't have an actual pvp macro as every class is different to pvp with and since we don't really have an i win button such as starfall, I don't recommend macroing a pvp battle. Use the best abilities you can and never be caught without jin!

I'll elaborate more on the subject later, I am afk in a group atm...was trying to look something up and this sturck me Tongue
