Shadow hounds are pretty buggy though, but i don't think its monk specific.
2  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Im sorry I need proof Fusoya on: May 12, 2008, 11:45:54 AM
I can see how its possible, but it must be hard to coordinate all the required buffs to come together just at the right time.

Where does it tell you which decurser you need for an item? I have a frozen core shield recipe and i can;t see it listed anywhere.
4  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Int or Dex? on: February 05, 2008, 04:49:03 PM
I find dex to be of great importance to my play style.

I play pvp, so dex does several things

It helps me crit because successful pvp needs defence so i spend my time in crane stance with a martial sword.

I use Shurikens alot in pvp, they probably account for 50% of the damage I do vs other players, high dex = good ranged damage.

Dex helps my dodge and parry, self explainatory.

I'm usually built str/dex/int 5/5/4 it works very well.

The question i'd like to know the answer to around the subject of int is where the point of diminshed returns kicks in. For my Bloodmage and Sorcerer its at 300 int.  300 points gives me 100% spell damage and there after every 10 points = +1% damage. Giving a maximum 160% damage at 900 int. + focus's + SDR gear.

On us monks though that spell damage mod from int isn't displayed on the character sheet, but i'm under the impression that it comes at a much lower level. Anyone figured out where that point lies?

5  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Perfect Gear for Raiding (or Grouping in general)? on: January 30, 2008, 02:24:49 AM
Personally I'm anti boon of health, especially for raid gear. I favor the +1% accuracy from thestran continental effect myself.

Something i see on alot of melee dps toons is armor that is 'jagged of health' seems a total waste to me. You get the same stats from 2 peices one of them plain and one of them just jagged whilst you get 2 continental effects in thier place.

I can see why some people like qalian continental effect for its healing potential but thats not something thats gonna save you in a raid.
6  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Crafted Swords? on: January 08, 2008, 09:43:16 AM
I've tried the parrying focus, and even at +200 on a T% sword it seems to do no significant stat changes on the character sheet. So i ditched it in favour of a mitigation one.
7  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Please post GU3.2-3.3 Bugs here on: January 02, 2008, 07:05:28 AM
I'm having issues with storm stride. Very often rather than me warping to the mob it just makes the mob run to me. It maybe that i'm doing something wrong but i can't think what it is.

Thanks fuji.

I got the calculator out and i figure it like this -

2.0sec global cooldown less 25% refresh haste from aum kor gives a GC of 1.5s to beat.

2.25s speed crafted wraps less 35% melee haste gives a speed of 1.46 and should work.

Something tells me it won't though.

I know that when i run with the same wraps aum ti and steal the wind i should be on GC 2.0 and attack speed 1.91 and that dosn't work.

Maybe pnig has something to do with it.

I'm interested to know if melee haste has a cap like spell haste. Spell haste caps at 50%, 30 from buffs and 20 from gear.

I guess it could be tested with a bard as 10% haste from aum kor and 15% from steal the wind + 20% from a bard song could equal 45% haste and should work but if it doesn't haste buffs would have a cap?

I'm sorry if i've derailed your thread alittle here, but if i was to pull points from con and put them in int i would also want to get the best possible effect from that int and this is how i would want to do it. So its sort of on topic Smiley

to really exploit secrets what i'm interested to know is if anyone has managed to get a weapon/melee haste combo going such that they are dropping white damage before the global cooldown has refreshed.

I see that as possibly being the biggest single boost to dps going maybe. when you get an extra 2-3000 damage dropping inbetween specials for free its gotta be good Smiley

I havn't worked too hard on getting it to work, i use a pair of crafted handwraps, with +15% melee haste from steal the wind, i'm sure with a little bit of celerity crafted gear, or the right bard song i could get it working.

also, would the extra dps from the auto attacks exceed what i lose from dropping back from my bladed staff?

questions questions...........
11  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Building a monk alt, few questions on: December 24, 2007, 04:42:57 AM
1. yes

2. Not much difference as far as i can tell.

3. Only play harmonious myself, but i'm very happy with it. you can switch style if you don't like your lot.

4. can max 4 weapon skillls

5 H2H don't do as huge a damage numbers, but they crit more so it probably evens out, especially for a non-harmonius monk. Harmonious monks crit rate is capped i think even without handwraps.

As a side note, crafted handwraps of striking are far superior to any other H2H weapon, so I only raised wraps, along with bladed staff, shurikens and martial sword.

I realise this ignores martial staffs, but in my mind a martial staff is a lower damage version of a bladed staff, useful for procs but not worth exploiting via high skill for max damage.
12  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Raid changes v2.0 on: December 09, 2007, 12:07:41 PM
A couple of peices of cheap green crafted jewllery along with a cleric buff should cap out your spiritual resist pretty easily.

This kinda thing - http://vg.curse.com/database/items/details/1268355/

since we can feign out of combat and swap out gear with hotkeys pretty easily, this is a very cheap way to get very high resists, especially when buffed by other classes.

Resists cap out somewhere around 550-600.
13  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Raid Arguement on: December 08, 2007, 03:57:39 AM
Because will make raids go faster.

A couple of monks using goading slap = much faster build up of hate on the tank = healers and DPS can go harder sooner.

Safest class for pulling mobs means higher success rate.

Multitude of debuffs are very important.

Amoung the highest DPS after GU3.

But above all what will make your monk wanted in a raid group is how you play it, as you say lots of classes can all do these things in thier own way, but being good at what you do in a raid situation will make you a valuable member of a team and looked for.
14  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Upcoming Monk Changes on: November 08, 2007, 04:14:59 AM
Having storm stride cost nothing on live as it does at the moment means I actually use it,and its fun. Putting a cost back on it will mean i only use to catch kiters in pvp again like it was before.

As things currantly stand on a test center in the worst situation -

LvL 15 ish Harmonious Monk in Tiger stance -

Strom stride 10 end + Cresent kick 22 end  + 50% = 47 endurance to get 2 jin, warp to target and do about 200 damage maybe if it crits with a secret on. Thats just wayyyy too expensive.

The same move currantly on Live costs 15 endurance and its fun to do.
15  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Piddly HoT for Monks, PvP proposal on: November 08, 2007, 04:03:52 AM
Its actually a 45s timer.  It grants the conduct skill, same as a bloodmages conductive symbiote.  I regularly hunt with a bard friend who has this mask and its pains me greatly that we can't use it as well or have nothing similar to it available.
