Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Huge monk nerfs

All I can say is try and be patient. If things are horribly out of whack I am positive they will be addressed.
As far as soloing, Monks are not supposed to be god at it. Soloing you got rogues who suck at it and then ya got us, in that order. We are a mostly Pure DPS class with little survivability if we choose to not FD. I know this changed from GU6 and how players were accustomed to playing but it does not mean that it should stay that way just because people got used to it. When the game launched we sucked at soloing (as it should have been), that changed when we got our revamp and people got used to it however IMO it never should have gotten that easy.
The change to 5 piece proc was supposed to give you more diversity and more ability to switch in Secret of Tanscendance 5% damage for 1(?) Minute, Jin Surge incase your in a stacked DPS group and this will beinfit DPS as a raid, More ashen hand attacks and or whatever else ya wanted to do with Jin. Jin is our backbone so any additional source of Jin is a nice bonus for all forms of monks.
As far as secret damage is concerned it was terribly overpowered. What other class gets an additional up to 2k+ added damage on every single attack they do, even auto-attack? If secrets had not taken a hit then other skills would have been slaughtered to accomodate this extra DPS. Maybe the secrets will get bumped back up to a higher proc rate, 50% maybe but if that happens I would suspect the damge will be cut in half to accomadate for DPS increase.
Overall raid DPS for a monk is still very nice, fully geared including dragon mace I can get 5400-5800ish on avg. I am usually top 3 on the parses.
Solo monks may indeed need some more fine tuning but I think alot of the players saying that they are broken and not worth playing think that Solo DPS should not have been affected at all and monks were not overpowered as soloers before, and to that end I don't agree personally.
Rogues are desinged to be top melee DPS and worst soloers. Monks are designed to be second highest melee DPS, why should they not be second worst soloing?

Yeah, unfortunately I do not think they anticipated just how much damage monks were doing that was not a direct result of that coding. After the flat damage change and pre-ability changes my DPS numbers were almost identical as a dragon monk. Of course I never use quickening jolt and being a dragon I only have FoC and 2 1k hits in my chain.
Anyway I was still doing way too much damage compared to where they thought we would land so it of course would actually require changes they had previously not forseen.

The reduction on the front end % was to help bring the DPS down, the Mit change was to address the long standing issue with that huge mit penalty.
Before that reduction to the %damage on the front end I was still hitting high 6's on the parses even with all the other changes in place.
That pretty much had to be done in order to get the numbers down, or else alot more skills would have gotten reduced even further, this way it was a simple change and did not require each and every ability we have to get nerfed. Very clean and alot better this way IMO.

just to list a couple of positive changes so far. Jin surge was reduced in damge but extended to 10seconds or 3 hits whichever comes first. So in a high DPS group this is actually a viable skill now as the group members have enough reaction time to take advantage of the buff. Dragon monks DPS stance huge mit penalty was reduced, the current levels are IIRC 7/5/3% penalty's instead of the old values of which I don't recall but I do know 3rd level was 10% mit reduction. So they took away 7% of the mitigation penalty on that stance, which is really nice IMO we all have heard that complaint that comparitvely speaking the 2% more damage did not justify the 10% mit penalty. Also iron fists was changed to add 104 INT as well and is now called iron resolve. It does not stack with other INT buffs but iirc it is the highest of all INT buffs so it will overwrite the others. This will really help group/solo play as they do not always have an INT buff of this magnitude available to them. Just a comment also on ashen hand, this timer was removed most likely due to it was causing monks to just sit at max jin until ashen hand timer popped then rinse repeat, made the calss feel really odd to play. So now with the timer removed if you have the jin and wish to spend it on ahsen hand then you have the freedom to spam it for a quick burn if needed. Another change I have not seen listed and also I have not confiremed anyway but I do think is in place is Secrets have moved to 25% proc rate from 50%.. I THINK.. don't quote me on that one also FYI my last few parses put me in the high 4k range roughly 4500-5000 on test with raid buffs, if the numbers we have been seeing thrown around that they wanted us somwhere under 5k is accurate then I do not expect to many more changes. All in all I am happy with the changes, the fact that they are addressing some of the lackluster abilties as well is nice, it shows to me they are taking this time to actually evaluate the class rather than just a straight nerf. Basically it almost seems as a small revamp for us which we have been asking for a change to some of these lesser abilites for some time now. Edited for spelling as well as copying to crosspost onto main forums.

If your in a raid capable guild I would suggest getting to 50 as fast as possible.
If not then swamp gear isn't too hard to come by. Do all the swamp slots and maybe just get heg BP/Legs if ya want.
The ToT jewelry is really nice and not easily replaced. Even the APW replacements for ToT jewlery is not a so large an upgrade that ToT becomes obsolete.

This thread is asking for bugs, not the class changes. He mentioned changes but then askes for any bugs you know of. Edit: That came off kind of blunt after reading it. Was supposed to be just pointing that out and not so blunt

Just a side note, i've not idea its the shadowhound or the Soaring Leap's fault. When im riding SH, whenever i use soaring leap to move faster, aggro a mob, it will automatically dismount regardless of being hit or not . Pretty sure its a bug but not sure under Soaring Leap or SH. That is intended. If you have agro and use any ability it will automaticaly dismount you, wether you are actually hit or not doesn't matter.

If Drunken takes a DPS aproach I do think we should be carefull to not let it become higher DPS than Dragon. Dragon as you know has no unique untilities whatsoever.
So if Drunken goes DPS we should make sure they don't overtake Dragon DPS or even be equal to it, as Fuji stated making Dragon Elemntal focused means their damage would be situational as to where a Drunken's would be steady, leaving players to just roll drunk if they want to DPS due to no stipulations on their damage.

I killed him on second try, well killed him both times but even though I killed him the first time it ported me out while I was standing on his corpse (which instantly respawned). Chest was up but I had no time to click it before I was ported. No update though.
Second attmempt I killed him again, went to click the chest and was ported out mid-click.

oh, and some hard numbers for those "average" monks like me, ill try to format it as a table here, based on my stats and raid buffed, w/o jin surge:
CURRENT NEW TF 5289 3920 FoC 10578 7158 ES 21156 13630 QJ 42312 26577
now, according to taliskar, unless you are hitting those 200k hits you wont notice a difference. i beg to differ. oh and adding in the bonus per "extra" ability? you get 3920, 7840, 15680 and 31360 respectively. that is with adding in the flat damage once per TF attack instead of just once.
Twisting words would be saying "unless you are hitting those 200k hits you wont notice a difference", when in actuallity he said you would not notice as large of a difference, which is 100% true. You say Fuyosa should work for the whitehouse or the clintons, I think you should work for the Enquierer, with all your conspiracy theories and whatnot. Fuyosa, myself and many others have repeatedly explained why this fix needs to happen. Take a step back and think about the good of the game and stop worrying about your particular class or whatevet grudge it appears you are holding onto. For the Dev's to ever accurately and effectively be able to push out quality Raid content they must have firm control over DPS. That's not going to happen when some classes are accounting for 2-4 melee DPS classes. Raids will become either unbeatable by those who can't reproduce the damage being refferenced or trivialized by those who can. Stop focusing on the numbers and focus on the goal. I'm not sure why you can't see the obviousness of how true the above statement is and I'm personally done trying to explain the common sense behind it.

As stated this will be "fixed" soon. I an tryin to tear apart the mechanics of a raid buffed monk and see whats causing the huge hits. As fujitsu says you still need a base hit of 133k with all the stars aligned to hit like you say you do every 2 mins. So share or dont share. shrug. However the community will have no real way to judge if what you are saying is in fact correct . Or, maybe its something else that someone else might notice that you havent. Its obviously not an exploit because you admitedly use it . Heck even our class lead says he does it. So that logic kinda falls by the wayside.
Just to clarify, I do not use and can't use it. I am a Dragon monk so while I gain some of the benifits I do not have errant fists and I do not use Quickening jolt.
