31  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Upcoming Monk Changes on: October 20, 2007, 09:18:24 AM
Looking at Harmonious Diamond skin innate ability, Im happy and think it makes sense-the Harmonious monk should be the defensive stance while Drunken is the middle, even though originally Drunken was meant to be defensive, I think it makes more sense for the Harmonious to be-the Harm monk as a bunch of debuffs, the only purpose of most is to weaken the mob so that he can survive tanking.

The Devs sem to have gotten confused as to which should do what, the Drunken mob does more damage than Harm and has the taunts, however while he can keep aggro, he struggles to tank, I changed to Harm from drunken becasue Harm abilities allow me to tank   with a small group, yet I struggle with aggro, it needs to be decided which is which, and it makes sense for the Harm to be the defensive tank type monk-tbh the Harm debuffs are of little use if Im not tanking, I play a pally and have no real use for a monk debuffing the mobs str, I can tank everything in the game easily as it is, so the only use of the Harm damage debuffs is to allow the monk to tank, so then making the drunken the tanking monk makes no sense to me

These posts are evil, I'm shaking with anticipation yet it will likely be months before the rest happens Sad

Yeah quivering palm i know is GC but the other shouldnt be and isnt when used alone
34  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: auto counter on: October 18, 2007, 11:28:32 AM
Hmm, I may be wrong but it seems the hotkey is bugged.  Upon activating my skill, there seems to be a cooldown timer after the Boundless fist counter attack. When I use the skill from my counter bar, there is no GC after using it, however, when I use it as part of a hotkey it does-I thought it was because it activates my next skill after it due to no GC, however, I have:
/cast "Quivering Palm I"
/cast "Stinging Backfist II"
/cast "Crescent Kick I"

As soon as my counter is used via this hotkey, I get the GC and the kick is not used, when not in a hotkey I can click the counter then click the kick straight after
35  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Harmonious stance problem! on: October 18, 2007, 11:18:27 AM
At lvl 19, the tiger stance is making my 20 endurance attack cost 30, so its working at 50% extra just as correctly stated in its description

Looks like Im gonna have to go from Con to Int Smiley
37  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Harmonious stance problem! on: October 18, 2007, 03:40:27 AM
I've not noticed this but thats because I dont use that stance-even correctly done 50% end increase is too much, so I stick to defensive with loss of damage.
But I will try check tonight and see if it is doubling cos
38  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Newbie monk needs advice! on: October 17, 2007, 07:12:35 AM
At 19 I can kill 3 dots but it aint pretty, I prefer to stick to 2 dots, but then again I only just changed to Harmonious from drunken, I think I could probably kill 3 dots more easily now judging by how much health i have left after a 2 dot

Perfect! Thanks!
40  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Global Cooldown on: October 16, 2007, 02:43:30 AM
Ah no, that was my fault for poorly explaining it.  With GC removed the skills that run only on it would have to have the recast time set to 2 seconds, my idea wasn't to beable to spam the same skill as quickly as your finger would allow, just to be able to it a number of skills without delay-Counter attack, Crescent kick, Ashen Hand, followed by some other skills etc.
41  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Global Cooldown on: October 16, 2007, 02:27:14 AM
Well, you couldnt just hit Ashen Hand 4 times as there would be a 2 second downtime after each time you used it (all skills on GC would have a minimum 2 sec recharge, not instant recast)

But yeah, from a PvP perspective I can see the issue, I dont PvP so was simply looking at PvE.
Course, considering Rangers get to Bow you down in seconds, Druids get to blast you with phenomenons and Bards get to annoy the hell out of ya by running round real fast.  It would be kinda great to see all of them get their ass whooped in a matter of seconds Cheesy

I really was hoping its overall effect on DPS wouldn't have been so significant (there are plenty of ways to adjust DPS) I was just hoping it would allow us to change the way our DPS is done, given us freedom to choose how to distribute our DPS, giving us the free flowing martial arts style and giving us our style

I mean, really, why be a monk?  Most of us likely picked it because its a fun idea-the martial artist, I doubt many min/maxers would have picked this class.  Honestly, what does the monk actually offer?  As said before, the Bard offers anything you made need in a situation, the Rangers gets to switch between melee and bow if needed and kite when required as well as give some nifty buffs (and currently doing more DPS), the rogue has his stealth and poisons and better DPS, the monk doesnt really have that special something.
I was hoping the removal of GC wouldn't have had such a huge impact because it then gives us something, something others dont have-the ability to truly control our Damage output

Being able to go steady, low drop in DPS, DPS spike would have been great.  Fighting a mob, its down to 60, you know it will try healing fairly soon, your DPS drops as you build up and then your DPS spikes as you unleash, same done with a mob that runs.  Or fighting multiple mobs, the tank is struggling to maintain aggro, a caster gets aggro, the tank has rescued and then ordered offtank, rescue wears off, mob turns to caster, you target mob-burt DPS to grab the aggro.
I liked the idea of the flexibility we would have with the control of DPS, I also liked the idea of having that special something.

I'd love to see it tested, just to se if it is as ridiculous as believed or wheter it is less an impact as some expect
42  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: auto counter on: October 16, 2007, 02:23:15 AM
That will do nicely, I thought it was more complicated like /autoreaction something or other, but if the /cast works that will be good.
Seeing as soloing menas Quivering Palm is very important I dont like to miss out on using it.

So, that hotkey you made above, due to Boundless and crescent being on no GC, does it mean unlike usualy where as soon as a skill activates the moves stop, does it go all the way through? Boundless, kick, Ashen Hand?

Thanks for the info, tonight I'll set my counters up
43  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Global Cooldown on: October 15, 2007, 03:42:56 PM
aye, but 100 end plus max jin means you can get quite a few attacks off as a burst, as a permenant thing you likely wouldnt make much use of the no GC, simply playing your normal style you do now, but with the freedom to do a burst when you feel it may be needed.
The reason I'd like to see it as a permenant fixture is not to make us powerful (As you say it wouldnt be that big a deal) but just to give us that option of the burst DPS, to have our own style of play.
A skill like what has been suggested to remove GC would work but likely be on some slow timer so it could only be done once in 10 or 20 mins and so would take away our freedom to do it as we feel its needed.

Course if they wanted to remove GC and then in the future they then wanted to give a skill that say, halved our endurance costs for 20seconds, that would be cool too Smiley
44  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Global Cooldown on: October 15, 2007, 03:19:12 PM
Ah, so you also feel the 100 end would prevent it becoming overpowered and godlike.  But you feel it would be too powerful as a permenant thing and so would have to be limited to a skill causing it?  Thats a shame but would still be kinda fun, problem is, burst DPS only once every...(however long recast time is on such ability) makes it very limiting

I mean, if say it was just the permenant feature of the monk and it wouldnt be making us godlike then it would be great to see as our thing, coz you wouldnt burst DPS all the time, most the time oyu'd probably be fighting exactly how ya do now-steady constant damage and then throwing in the burst when you need to-to make the burst effective you'd have to slow your DPS down to max end and cap your Jin, then burst your damage attacks at once, taking into account the DPS you lose doing this I would have thought the overall DPS wouldnt be massive, all it would be doing is shifting the pattern of our DPS in order to lay smack down at once to try kill a mob before its heal goes off-less damage during fight followed by more damage near the end
45  Monk Discussion / Monk General / auto counter on: October 15, 2007, 11:11:59 AM
Can anyone tell me what the / command is for autocounter is? I want to set both the Parry counter and dodge counter onto a load of my skills as I keep Ashen Handing when I could have countered etc.

Thanks
