31  General Topics / Non-Monk Class Discussion / Re: Disciples on: February 04, 2007, 08:43:25 AM
Disciples are much more effective at healing than beastlords were.  I've leveled up to 22 with a group of 6 and the only healer we have had is a disciple and he does fine.

However, their dps cannot even come close to ours.  I measured it with a friend, we each started attacking two identical mobs of identical level and I was able to kill mine, move on and kill another, and then go help him finish off his.

I have not done any formal testing or recorded anything.  All I know is that I hit much harder with bare hands than with a weapon.  For example, one attack with fists will do around 300, while with a weapon it will do around 100.

And as far as I understand it (from reading the tooltips in the skill sheet) your weapon skill only affects accuracy, not damage.  And the bonus skills (Bladed Staff, Knuckles, etc.) are supposed to give bonus damage.

Bare hands do more damage than any other weapon for monks right now.  From what I have read, this is not intended and it is just another thing that Sigil will have to look at when they do the monk revamp.

As far as weapons go, I gauge my choices by hovering my mouse over the Attack in my character window.  This shows your dps with the current weapon equipped.

It has been a known bug since beta.  I just think they haven't gotten to us monks yet.  There are several problems with our skills so I think it will be coming eventually.

Ok, I messed around with it tonight and it seems to work for a solid 30 seconds every time.  It just sucks when someone breaks it b/c of the 30 second cooldown.

Sometimes when you FD you will still be stuck in combat (have the crossed swords as your icon).  If this is the case, sometimes a mob will hit you once or twice more.  After that, they will stop.  They will also stand over you in their combat idle animation.  I do not think this is intended as FD is supposed to remove you from combat and I have a feeling they will fix it eventually.  For right now, you just have to hop back up and FD again until you lose combat.

I just got Nerve Strike but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet.  I believe it will be extremely useful maybe even to the point where it might get nerfed.  Because, as it was stated above, we can leave combat anytime we want.  So basically we can mezz just as well as psi's can.  And yes, it is a 30 second cooldown, so we can only mezz one mob at a time.

After I try it a bit, I'll let you know about the reliability and if it lasts 30 seconds every time.

Absolutely!  They are very similar to us in many ways and it will give us a chance to rub it in that they only get to FD once every minute  Roll Eyes
