Actually, Phantasmal Blade is also out-of-combat only. I'm not sure if this is a longstanding bug, or intended. But it's really annoying (wish they'd fix that so we could have our "puller" role at some point before Raiding =p)

Feel free to ask whatever you like. While some of us have moved on, there are still a few of us like Fujitsu, myself and a few others whom check around here often. Hope you're enjoying your monk.

Just wanted to point out Hakuan... you might want to wait till the patch hits live before canceling. I mean, none of these things on test are live yet. People have been commenting, including myself and while I'm quite sure a vast majority of monks will be let down if they hit live... they haven't yet. Test server is for just that... testing. (though IMO I figured the effect on the non-raider would be pretty obvious without having to do parses or anything >.<) Anyway, give them a chance to make adjustments, as long as it doesn't end up a year later like our Secret animation to be fixed If you are still canceling, well.. good luck to you in your future games. Otherwise, might as well pop over to test sever and put your comments in the monk section of the boards in a clear organized fashion.

I took a visit to test today and made a nice long post in regards to my thoughts which I either didn't post or got removed for some obscure reason. Anyway, here it is again.
The changes are far too severe on the pre-40 game (at least for the Drunken monk). Our DPS was not exactly phenomenal before the changes and while not having done extensive parsing, it's pretty obvious what the effect of the changes will be.
Ashen hand More Jin for less damage on Ashen hand. No. This may be necessary for raiding but it's far too severe for the drunken monk. I know there was a choice between Refresh timer, jin increase and damage reduction, however just one would have been enough and honestly, none was needed for lower level monks.
Refresh Timers On Thousand Fist chain, sure, needed for raiders, etc. But how about simply making the last 2 drunken finishers on a 2 minute timer instead, leaving lower level monks their big damage and leveling out the damage curve. Increase on Cresent kick from 8 to 12... I don't think it's nessisary, especially combined with the nerf to Ashen hand.
Secret procs Probably the easiest to keep steady for damage. If you want to adjust Damage, this will affect lower level monks more than higher IMO. The lack of ice proc also greatly hurts the soloer monk, but that's unsuprizing. My monk on test doesn't have transcendance yet... but the idea sounds okay.
Asides. Drunken monk still doesn't seem to be getting their role yet. They need more defensive abilities, a reasonable force taunt of 5 hits. (or at least, incrementing) and a toggleable hate generation. Perhaps even a hate-proc secret just for us? I don't know. My Paladin has leveled up around the same time as my monk and frankly, we don't generate that much more DPS than a Paladin (mostly as they have limitless endurance) and offer far less to the group (no group endurance, heals, regeneration/damage and such) . We're definatly not strong enough to warrent a nerf at lower levels.
The levels of certain abilities needs to be modified, the damage curve smoothened so it doesn't peak so much in later levels. Adjusting Aum levels (and/or adding new ones) might be a good way to go. Stances should be reviewed and some abilities should be adjusted. I can give many more suggestions and I'd love to do so.
Oh, and it's really silly, disciples have a 2 jin attack that does 300% weapon damage and crits more often... They're stances are better too. Really. I'm out damaging my monk with him >.< Anyway....

As I was leveling up my Drunken monk (always was drunken. I like tanking) I was also leveling up my Paladin. The paladin has heals, boosts to damage. Group damage increasers, virtually limitless endurance for themselves and the group, etc. I figured my DPS would increase someday to offset that. I felt only slightly ahead of the paladin in that regard... the PALADIN (aka the worst DPS ever)
if I step back about 10-15 levels to about 35, we're looking at some pretty awful DPS at lower levels, for a DPS class, that's not good. Combine that with a very very low utility and we're talking nerfed to oblivion.
Higher Jin Cost on a lower damage Ashen hand, higher refresh on Cresent Kick, longer refresh on 1000 fist, a LOT less procs on secrets... all adds up to a good deal less DPS and lowered survivability (from less procs on secret of ice)
I mean, normally I'm quite happy playing an underpowered class, I took up my monk before the revamp and enjoyed it, but we're going back to that level of power and minus. I just chose them for their flashy moves (Which it apears secrets are fixed on test to not break animations. Huzzah!)
... I still don't know why they can't give Drunken monks a toggleable hate buff, a real force-taunt (like, 5 hits) and a better defensive stance (whats this BS about less accuracy? and it's downright awful at lower levels)
My recomendation would be to keep 1000 fists as it was, with a 1 min refresh timer and up the last two to 2 minutes. That'd be a much better fix without castrating the lower level drunkens. Make the Ice and Fire procs do less damage but on every hit, and put that stupid refresh timer back, or increase jin cost, OR lower damage. Just one, not two or three of these options!
That's my view on this. This is what I think in regards to lower level drunken monk, pre 40.
(I've done a little feedback on test server, and /bugged the drunken refresh stance as it was adding 10% refresh instead of lowering)

Really appreciate the work you're putting in on this Fuyosa. If nothing else it's nice to know monks have an active representative with the devs once again.
Monks have needed this second passing over for quite a while and I'm sure in due time we'll get ours, so to speak.

I really like that idea myself Ronmaru! It's original and doesn't seem exaggeratedly overpowered and seems to fit within the spectrum of the classes. Obviously as you stated would require some tweaking but I think would bring quite a bit to the class...
It seems to take on the vision of what each class should be and plays on them (which honestly IMO needs a bit of work from the devs myself)
Kudos to the thought process.

Just curious. I'd love to help out with this. Where can I find Silius's MSN address?
I'm always finding bugs everywhere and I think it'd be great to be able to relay them directly (cause as many times as I /bug something it never seems to get to their ears)
Thanks Fuji. I do hope you manage to get in touch with Quinn sometime.

Ill try tonight if i can catch one online.
Just wanting to know. When you said this I think you referred to the attack-locking bug. Did you get a chance to ask them about the animations? Just asking as it's a long-standing issue which while doesn't affect the core class. It's already working for 1 secret (apparently, the last secret of ice?) so isn't a long fix. Thanks

I'm curious about this. Seems the Dreadknight is able to use their Phantasmal blade with shadowstep. Is there any reason we cannot do the same with our Storm Stride? Is it a bug or a feature?

Fuji, is there any chance you could bug the devs about our stupid jab animation bug with secrets? I don't know if I'm the only one but it's been a whole GU since they broke it. Honestly the #1 reason I started playing a monk is because they looked cool (with the promise of flying leap later) and I feel I've been robbed here. It shouldn't be too much work to fix something animation-wise that worked before. Thanks

I have to agree with the stance issue. I'd kill for the Disciples stances myself. +10% crit +20% damage +50% energy cost on heals. Gimme. +20% dodge 1/jin per 8 seconds -20% hate. Oh yeah =p Honestly though the drunken monk defensive stance should be at least something near that. (without the minus hate) I'm also all for bare-fisted fighting. And for the love of all that is Gin, how about fixing our animations? Oh, and thank you Fujitsu.

Actually, the change was intended apparently. The problem was it wasn't working the way the devs had intended. It was only supposed to dismount you on buffs if you had agro. (of any form)
Apparently just some miscommunication.
