76  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Aggro on: September 18, 2007, 01:17:15 AM
Rambling  on a lil, anyways I can also confirm that recently I cleared a Crypt with group comprised of 3 rangers a Warrior, Cleric and myself (dragon Monk at the time) consistently was pulling agro of the MT way before the Rangers (all kitted with striking weapons /heroic gear) So yes a well Equipped Dragon Monk can out DPS Rangers all day long and you wont be puffing for breath either  Tongue

if they didn't have assassin long swords they weren't well equipped...  long swords of the assassin are much preferred for rangers since so many of their finishers actually are considered *ranged* attacks.

what generally causes the monks to draw aggro is our rate of attacks, being pretty much the only class that never gets a chance to use auto-attacks.  That said, from a DPS perspective a ranger will out damage us.  And a well kitted ranger will out aggro us.

I Beg to differ on this, our Guild DK Tank, ex EQ veteran , Quoted that I was making as much if not more DPS than a Scorc, ( this was when i Played Dragon Style).

Is the DPS parser working and ill post up some hard evidence?

Having played a Dragon monk since Beta, I recently switched styles over to Harmony. I can confirm Dragons prolly make a little more DPS that Harmony Monk. Just a well placed Dot after jin surge will see both Dragon dots adding up to around 5k per tick. Harmony Monk will bring a little More to the party in the way of some very sweet debuffs.

Monks are Very gear Dependant!  And as Fujitsu said Our Most important items are 2 Good hand wraps and Items which add % Crit and % Damage. A well Kitted out Harmony Monk will Crit for around 60-70% which is very cool indeed =)

A lot of Monks DPS is considerably enhanced by your group; -  Bards, Clerics and Necros will add considerable DPS,  in a good group @50 you should see STR hit your 900 soft cap with a decent balanced DPS group.

I have found Agro stealing its prolly about the same post gu2 although a well played tank of any class should be able to hold and keep the agro (excluding a string of crtitted finishers)

Motes are what you need 300 of to go from the heroic weapon to the legendary weapon.  Its not for faction, which im already at max faction (over 12k)

You get 5 motes per named
or 5 motes for a t1 armor piece
10 for a t2
or 15 for a t3

I just need to find a 3 dot or something named on a 20 min timer

Oh yes, it was a while since i was there. I seem to remember most of the motes came from turning in unwanted Armour pieces, and hitting the named mobs in drake riders.
Some of the outside ruins have named pops but there place holder spawns.

Hmm i take it want the Motes to turn in for faction.

Was quite a while since i was there, but seem to remember that alas theres no easy way to gain faction. I recall spending close to 10 levels there collecting the correct candles, Runes and tombs. The Motes came as a bonus.

It prolly wont help you much Fujitsu, but i would say anyone wanting this item should hit the Wardship at around level 30 Start with the overland quests. Then progress into VT, then Drakeriders then Lastly Vir`akh Lair all 3 are Very good Dungeons!
But you will need a strong group in there.

Hello,

Equipping Sun strike is now possible as of a patch about 1 week ago and working very well too.

Normal throws for a dragon monk give around 900 damage or so, buffed its about 1.4k crits go well over 2k and legendary hits for over 5k.

Hello QTM n thanks for the warm welcome.

As Varu said im playing Dragon and loving it.

I cant say i didnt notice the lack of people playing atm which is a bit of a shame, i know a lot of people seem to have run out of content and perhaps others are awaiting the long awaited raid content.

Its no surprise that due to the premature launch there was quite a large blip in games progression, which is a bloody shame, as VG as it stands is a very good game. Most of the bugs have now gone and classes balance isnt to far off where it should be.

With regard to mt Ten Ton Hammer past, well they tryed real hard too and dont get me wrong are nice people. however being made Monk class leader was like being a Melee class leader, Monk styles differ a lot and trying to advise people how to play a harmonious or Drunken style was nearing on impossible as i had no 1st hand experience with it. That and with all the changes being made to the skills all the timefurther made information i had posed null and void after a patch.

Anyways enough ranting glad to be on board and hope to be of assistance to you all.
