62  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Drunken Monk Style at 50, my thoughts. on: October 31, 2007, 11:38:10 AM
Your opinions on FD during tanking, please? Is it cowardice, or a sound tactical decision?)

A Fair Point, I would say its a fair call to FD if

1) if your close to death and the Mob is close to death
2) you have more than 1 healer in the group
3) if your seriously out numbered

For a  Monk who's Tanking to FD in a fight can be a respectable tactical decision. Of course training your own group is going a bit to far Grin

Seems FD split pulling is back out of the game.

Only rarely have i made a successfully split pull using both inviz and 4 mob trick. So if i remember correctly this is the 4th time Split pull mechanics have been changed  in VG what gives ... Angry

Opps posted wrong weapon ment one of these http://vg.curse.com/database/items/details/586812/
65  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Week long parsing - Dragon/drunken/harmonious on: October 14, 2007, 05:32:56 AM
Seeing as theres less that 10% difference in DPS between Harmony and Dragon, id pick Harmony any Day.

We can solo things a dragon monk cant solo, and have Massive debuffs, which i am sure will be Very useful on forthcoming Raids.

Debuffs as follows: -
Withering Palm -10% damage to Mob for 20 Secs +10% Damage to Monk for 60 Secs
Quivering Palm -50% damage for 8 seconds
Eagle Claw -15% mitigation for 24 Secs
North Wind Snaps the Limb II -150 damage for 30 seconds
North Wind Breaks the Trunk II 300 Damage every time mob attacks
Steal the Wind III -15% attack speed
Trappin Mantis claw III 2 second stun
Pusing hands Takes Mob out of stance (apparently being implemented in Raid)

Also if you have one of these http://vg.curse.com/database/items/details/586680/ will slow attack speed and cast rate by 15%

And lastly book of Morfair + 10% damage to whole group (assuming Necro can Undead Mob if not undead already.

So Harmony Monks Tanking Big Mobs isnt out of the question.
Pull using: -
Diamond Skin II
Reed in the Wind
Swaying step
Iron Skin
and Find the center
Pretty much nothing will touch you for 20 seconds, in this time Mob is attack is slowed for 30% Damage reduced by 50% plus -10% plus -150 Damage, also by which time you group would have also let off some decent debuffs  rendering the attacking mob more a less pretty useless!

I used this strat tanking Heg during the fight he hit me maybe 4 times but my HP barely moved west during the whole fight.
Be interesting to see what happens during raids but having a harmony Monk pull, open an attack debuff wouldnt be out of the question.

Aye another thing i notice is that you have a PSI.

PSI with a Bard is a pretty Ubar combo, it means the Bard can maintain a higher DPS songs with less rest pauses in their song make up.

I think Fujitsus group of Cleric, Disciple, Paladin, Psionocist, Bard and Monk is pretty much the "Dream Team" I  can imagine your group was cutting through Mobs very fast.
68  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Week long parsing - Dragon/drunken/harmonious on: October 12, 2007, 06:27:30 AM
Thank you Fujitsu.

I'm guessing the extra DPS your finding is coming from your Cleric and Disco buffs.

Thanks again for taking the time, this post is very interesting.

Hi,

Wondered if you could fill us in on a little more detail, in order to get some kind of benchmark of the DPS each brand of Monk is making?

Recently a Guildie Parsed a crypt event group my Harmony Monk was making 2.2k DPS, our Necro was making a little more @ 2.4k tho i went LD at one stage and know i could have worked a little harder. Our group was Pally, Shammy, lvl 46 Bard Necro, Wizard and I

Any Hard numbers please  Smiley

Fujitsu is Bang on the Money.

And yes really makes me wonder why some people are complaining and throws into question  their playing style.

If i may add, Monks can Crit a whole groups Dots/or Inc Taunts
Monks Soaring leap can Break you into RI Palace avoiding the Mobs guarding outside.
A Monk can lead a group from Domo to Warlord pull spot without having to kill a single Mob.
Monk can scout ahead In a Dungeon searching for Nameds.
Monk Can collect essences/coins from RI Solo.
Monk can explore new areas before any other classes. I have reached the top of the The Caldera, and explored Very Deep into the Bows of Stiirhad Dungeon (before Flying mounts could be hired)

Oh and 1 more thing any Style Monk can Tank and hold agro against Every Mob in the Game!

71  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: FD 2.0 to arrive GU #3 on: September 22, 2007, 10:48:20 AM
If think if FD is to be learnt it should be learnt beyond the point its at right now.

Also wondering how this will be implemented will level 50 players automatically hit the cap? or will we have to start from scratch  Huh?
72  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: FD 2.0 to arrive GU #3 on: September 22, 2007, 03:35:14 AM
I hope so... even at 47, I'm having a hard time splitting in Rahz due to the fact reds hit so hard. I think I die an average of 15 times per three hours, lol - in defensive, with Aum Liat and a Martial Sword.

You got the right idea Khana, Reed in the Wind and Swaying Step helps here too  Wink

Mind you @ 50 you still die a lot in the palace  Tongue
73  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: **** READ ME***** Raid testing monks: Regarding FD, Rez and Raids on: September 22, 2007, 01:15:07 AM
I dont think anything is broken, Averam was prolly surprised that a Monk FD out of combat and rezed a healer, as it seems he had no idea Monks. Disc or indeed Necro`s could do this!

I think he should Move along and get AWP finished!
74  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: FD 2.0 to arrive GU #3 on: September 22, 2007, 12:51:18 AM
This is good news indeed  Smiley

Was something us Monks banded together and pushed for in Beta Round table discussions. FD should indeed be a learnt skill, and not something you just press and prey.

Currently you need 4 mobs chasing you in order to FD split pull, I hope this can also be adjusted to 2 or 3.
