46 - Spirit Dragon
812  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Thundering Fists Bugged! on: September 09, 2007, 08:09:32 AM
Okay tested this last night and i cant reproduce the problem.

1) Are you using Finishers on a hot bar or The Chain bar?  Im using the Chain bar and atm have no issues with it using the wrong thunder fist, also thunder fist is definatly doing ess dmg then thousand fist.  thousand fist is 3*( dmg +163) vs 3*(dmg +155).

2) what mobs are you testing it on?
813  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Sun Strike of Vol Anari on: September 08, 2007, 10:15:36 AM
Motes are what you need 300 of to go from the heroic weapon to the legendary weapon.  Its not for faction, which im already at max faction (over 12k)

You get 5 motes per named
or 5 motes for a t1 armor piece
10 for a t2
or 15 for a t3

I just need to find a 3 dot or something named on a 20 min timer
814  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Sun Strike of Vol Anari on: September 07, 2007, 07:12:05 PM
Hey if u dont mind, know a faster way to pick up motes?

Atm i solo ghost wing in VT, and 2-3 of the 38 four dots in thel 1x a day for about 20 motes a day if im lucky

Is there a better spot to camp like a 3 dot named for motes?  I only need 210 more motes and thats it, but i dont want to spend 12-14 more days
815  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Gear at 50. on: September 06, 2007, 12:40:21 PM
Not sure how powerful the 3rd flying kick is, i know dragons get a 3rd chain attack for divine avalanche line.

As far as different weapon types.

At 30s, if you get the cragwind weapon, stormslam, it will out damage any other weapon/combo until 48 when u can get t5 ur crafted.  I am 50 atm and have about 6 different weapons and 2 fist wraps and i find 2hb to be more dps overall, even though atm crits arent doing double dmg, just an extra 300-400
816  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Gear at 50. on: September 05, 2007, 09:38:00 PM
The blade staff is, i have it, and its hands down the top dps item in the game.  Only thing close is a martial staff with contageon proc (minus dodge and resists)
817  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Gear at 50. on: September 05, 2007, 05:07:03 PM
Devestatio crystals add 200 dmg to TWO handers.

Jagged Hand wraps of devestation - 52.8 dps  - 114-125 dmg , +24 crit and 69 melee dmg

jagged fist wraps of striking - 141-156 dmg, 65.78 dps +37 crit+ proc

So you lose ~30-35 base dmg . Which is what affects all multipliers your attacks are based on.  IE if something is 200% weapon dmg, thats what it affects.  the + to melee dmg is when you mouse over dps and it says "melee dmg 460-500", it adds it straight on to there.

818  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Quest about 2 handed weaopns (double crit dmg) on: September 05, 2007, 12:00:15 PM
Okay for info.  I am working on celestial ward faction ae'ing lvl 6 bloodhowlers.

3k + kills here are the parses

whirling storm v
average crit with 2 hand pericing (t5 ur blade staff of devastation dps 72) ----1723 (ranges from 1600 to 1890)
average crit with 2 t5 ur hand wraps (dps is 66 on each)   -----1202 (ranges from 1100-1300)
819  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Quest about 2 handed weaopns (double crit dmg) on: September 05, 2007, 11:53:51 AM
So this is mainly directed at Qtm, but any feedback is welcome.

Can anyone actually confirm that 2 handers are doubleing crit damage?

To clarify, i was told by a few people that the "double crit" means it adds an extra crit SOMETIMES.  So when you look at the combat spam you will see.

Your boundless fist hits VIII hits for 5098
Critical hit for an additional 1505
Critical hit for an additional 200

The problem is i only see the 3rd line about 1/20 times.  So im not sure if what they are saying is true.  The way i thought it worked was if you criticaled for an addition 540, the 2 hander uped that to 1080.

The reason i ask cause when i look at my parses, my average crit (non epic/leg) is for 1200 with h2h and 1500 with 2hpiercing.
820  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Gear at 50. on: September 05, 2007, 11:40:58 AM
I had a pair made for handwraps.

1 "of striking" means a finishing crystal was used.  The crystal itself adds to the weapon dmg AND adds the proc.  which is why the striking fist wraps are 66 and the non striking are 54ish.
2 The + melee dmg from devestation crystals is small, its about 50ish.   So if you take the BASE weapon dmg, add devestation, you gain about 12 dmg over  striking.  HOWEVER they give less weapon dmg and melee dmg because + melee dmg isnt calculated into the inital proc, its ADD after all the other dmg.

821  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Gear at 50. on: September 05, 2007, 05:54:42 AM
My big problem with those 2, is the only thing they have good is the dps rating.   Their stats and procs blow.

Aluul - 121-138 dmg, 68.65 dps, 7 str/7vit/50 hp
Torchbearer - 126-139 dmg, 71.35 dps, 38 sv fire, 70 hp
arazamus - 129-142 dmg, 69.23 dps, 17str 6 dex

Flawless xxx jagged fist wraps of striking - 141-156 dmg, 65.78 dps +37 crit  and  11str/7dex/4vit or 11dex/7con/4str   then add which ever continental effect you choose, i personaly got the 15% heal proc.

Few things to note, our skills our based off MELEE dmg and WEAPON dmg.  So the player made fist wraps may have the lowest dps rating , they have the highest dmg, which makes for the highest MELEE dmg and WEAPON dmg, it just means they are the slowest.   They are hands down the most dps combo in the game and have the best stats imho.

As far as must have items.

Jagged tunic of the marked (t5 ur with +177 crit and a 5 % chance to proc + 10% cirt.
Celestial ward stars (at least heroic, but legendary is what im getting) -  290 dmg, 45 rng, + crit
Stormslam - for its avoidance buff
Prime vielthread bags -32 slots
Aged Saddle bag - 32 slots
Stalte carvings of invisibilty - broker.
Lucent jewlery and cloaks - (the only lvl 50 faction worth grinding)
Rhaz legendar helm
Gloves of hatred
Possibly: (if u can stand the intense grind) the levi cloak, underwater breathing mask, super jump boots, from dragons backbone gnomes.

IMHO:
Swamp of gorgalok area is a total waste.
Hengerian cloak sucks for melee compared to lucent one
The armor that requires t6 rare/ur to upgrade is good, but if u can afford player made its better (except for the bp)
Also the swamp armor quests are FAR worse then loot the hengerian himself drops (drops best legs/bp in game)

Afrit weapon is a waste
the stats blow, and we get no + crit like other weapons
the proc is moderate cold dmg, with a bonus to effreti woo woo
for a heroic item thats quested its about the same as aluuls claws

822  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Gear at 50. on: September 04, 2007, 08:34:41 PM
Jagged Fist wraps of striking.
66dps and vendeta proc.  Easily out dpses tourchbearers.

AS far as weapons.  Greystone 2hb is the most dps of all weapons.  Its actualy the same as any 2 handed t5 crafted so pick your poison.  Martial staff with contagon proc is bad ass.   I personaly use a bladestaff of devestation.
823  Monk Discussion / Monk Tactics & Techniques / Re: Stats for Increased Crits? on: September 04, 2007, 08:30:38 PM
Uh - The hardest part about doing both are the time investment.

Faction and armor for Celestial ward will take from lvl 28-40

Cragwind took me from 30-35 to get the slivers (constant group) then 37 by the time we were high enough to beat the last one.

If i had to pick i would do CW then go back and do stormslam.

Marsh of Peril = Celestial Ward

http://forums.tentonhammer.com/showthread.php?t=17721

As far as faction, if you evil, do the kill 50 blood  howlers quest, it turns into kill 100, and just do that up till your 2k.  You CAN just get a list of whats needed for your armor, go farm them.  Then when you finally get the faction go turn them in.
Drane armor : http://vg.curse.com/database/items/?q=Drane%27s&level_min=&level_max=40&race=&class=15&s=&st=1&sv=0

Personally i never did the Celestial ward and i regret it.   I did the cragwind legendary weapon quest (which at 30 was best weapon in the game till 48) but i felt gyped armor wise.  If you go full out celestial ward till you have the full suit of armor + the celestial throwing stars you will not regret it, that armor will last well till 45+ At which point you should just start replacing it with either t5 crafted or gorgalok armor.

PS.  XETH monks represent.   Name is fujitsu - look me up.
PSS  I AM doing the the throwing star quest now because of the upgrades promised.  290 dmg, 40 range, +5 crit hit.  They will actualy be better then uncommon t5 finally.
825  Monk Discussion / Monk Tactics & Techniques / Re: Stats for Increased Crits? on: August 30, 2007, 06:06:59 AM
Just a heads up.   The pain crystal armor is going to be rare and expensive, and i think you can only get t4 and t5 versions of it.

Just look for armor that says +melee critical hit chance

Although until 30ish chances are you will be like me and just end up wearing random trash, and then get the celestial ward armor.  That armor will last till 40+ and you can slowly replace it with + crit armor.

You COULD do gorgalok swamp armor as it adds nice crit, however i feel atm the armor is just as hard to get as player made (aka not that hard) and as such neither is that good
