Harmonious and use a two-handed weapon albeit a bladed staff or martial staff. Macro in the thousand fists chain to auto switch to the tiger stance and bash some heads.

/combatformset "misc tiger stance"
/cast "thousand fists X"

Don't remember the name of the first tiger stance, but the first thousand fists is obviously "I"

Have that bound to R on my keyboard.

3  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: What monk stuff would you like to see in APW??? on: November 16, 2007, 10:59:11 PM
Thats not raid gear. Wayyy back a bad patch put masterwork crystals into the loot tables and a few peices of 'masterwork' were crafted and found there way onto curse.

The crafted items from APW require a looted recipe, looted components, looted resources from APW bosses and an item from the final boss to activate an item after its been crafted.

I'm certain they will be much different to the odd peice of 'masterwork' that was crafted from regular recipes in a breif glitch after a buggy patch.
Ya ya, I'm saying it better be something alot better than what is showing up there, lol

Putting monk refresh haste at 50% for Harmony, and Dragon Monks, and 60% for Drunken???

Is this overkill??

~QTM

Hell no it's not overkill! Haste me up baby!

Ah almost forgot the "Mask of the Feral Warrior" available to Rogues and Bards ~1200 HP heal on I think a 1 minute timer.
6  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: LVL 50 Dragon Feed back from test ---few big issues QTM on: November 07, 2007, 11:18:46 PM
Cost of Crescent kick appears to have increased from 10 endurance to 22 as well.

What!?!? *cries*
7  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Piddly HoT for Monks, PvP proposal on: November 07, 2007, 11:14:10 PM
A logical alternative indeed. Actually, the first rogue I ever knew (lvl20) spent about 2-4 hours farming the book and got it on the first day. I was discussing it with him on ventrilo and he was rather surprised it took so little time. Albeit the lvl40 or lvl50 one does sell for about 20 platinum but I imagine the rogues are hard at work farming for it. The book itself actually do not say Required Class: Rogue, so who knows perhaps a rogue could sell the book to a monk, /shrug.
8  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Piddly HoT for Monks, PvP proposal on: November 07, 2007, 01:38:39 PM
knuppel2 I hate this forum. My original post was lost because my login session timed out. This post is about PvP and has been reduced to a rather lazy arguement in my own frustration at losing the original.

Anyhow, let's discuss giving monks a new HoT to increase their PvP survivability.

DoT's hurt. Not a problem for rangers, they may root the target and scamper away while using regrowth to spam heal themselves which has no cooldown timer. Rogues may mez their target and also spam heal themselves using bandages made by pickpocketing for the "Fun with lint" book. Bards may mez their target to get away while playing a heal over time song that roughly ticks for 180-350 hp.

So there you have it, 3/4 of the offensive fighters have a pretty reliable way of healing DoT damage once they have left the area and confined their target to standing stupidly in place. So what do monks have in this area? Well a ~1500 pt heal on a 5 minute cooldown which if it should be on cooldown, in all likelyhood you will die to a single DoT as you run like hell using soaring leap. Also, with melee DoT damage being increased come next patch to live I imagine Bite of Nag-Suul, Hammer of Penance, Hand of Censure, Knife Hand, Tearing Claw, Sundering Claw, Throat Rip... all these lovely melee DoTs, to be rather absurb in damage to the class that cannot either heal himself constantly for small amount or once for a large amount. Granted the changes to the monk heal I'm sure will help tremendously. Sure you can volentarily dodge these melee attacks if you aren't on global cooldown, have endurance, and are completely aware of your surroundings etc etc, but you cannot dodge spells.

Albeit I have my doubts and propose the following:

a 700-1000 heal over 8-12 seconds using 3-5 jin on a 1-4 minute cooldown.

Time for the number set:

 700hp over 8 sec = 87.5hp/s        700hp over 10 sec = 70hp/s       700hp over 12 sec = 58hp/s
 800hp over 8 sec = 100hp/s         800hp over 10 sec= 80hp/s        800hp over 12 sec = 66hp/s
 900hp over 9 sec = 112.5hp/s      900hp over 10 sec = 90hp/s       900hp over 12 sec = 75hp/s
1000hp over 8 sec = 125hp/s       1000hp over 10 sec =100hp/s    1000hp over 12 sec = 83.3hp/s

So as you can see this ability really doesn't even come close to half the HoT the other 3 classes have acess too, which is fine. It's intention is just so that we do not die to a single spell/dot as that makes for some very gimp pvp. I mean as is. without the melee DoT increase I've had shaman hit me with DoTs that tick for 1k, bloodmages ones that tick for 500, cleric ones that tick 600. So anything that may slightly decrease the onslaught by healing classes is welcome in my game.

Oh and change "Spirit of Jin" to 15 minutes instead of 30.

thanks for reading

More evasion, no intelligence, more con, 7% melee accuracy and call it even. =P
Endurance regen I suppose should be slapped on some pieces giving a max of 5-6.

Would that be one badass set of armor? Yep and that's the idea lol.

Oh and a clickable that is something akin to...

"Lao-jin consumes you as you ascend into the astral plane, increasing attack speed by 50% and reducing endurance costs by 40% for 60 seconds."

Hahaha this will never happen, *sigh*
10  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: What monk stuff would you like to see in APW??? on: October 31, 2007, 09:28:22 AM
The legendary crystals themselves are what make legendary items. The resources to my knowledge are still Tier 5 making these red items not actually tier 6. The current stat increase in using a legendary crystal over a uncommon/heroic one, is really a joke.

Here are two links for you to compare.

http://vg.curse.com/database/items/details/814718/ Legendary so it uses an item like this: http://vg.curse.com/database/items/details/1059913/

Compared to a heroic chest: http://vg.curse.com/database/items/details/799934/

Like I said dunno if it's "official" tier6 but I doubt it highly.

Tier6 resources can be found in wrymwing slopes, blinding shallows, and a couple other spots. Tier6 skins to my knowledge only come off of ceti spores.
11  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: range items? on: October 28, 2007, 03:05:27 PM
Common question...

Crafted "Light" throwing shuriken have a range for 35m. Using a counterweight which costs 50 copper will increase the damage as well.

The tier's go as follows

T1 1 thrown
T2 150 thrown
T3 250 thrown
T4 350 thrown
T5 450 thrown

You may also change the damage type of said throwing weapons using the enhancement found off mobs. May I recommend "mental" and "fire."
12  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: What monk stuff would you like to see in APW??? on: October 28, 2007, 02:01:50 PM
I rewrote this post about 10 times and cannot find an answer that suits the discussion.

PvP is unbalanced. Adding 45m range throwing stars for monks makes the problem worse. If you do not have any knowledge of the current throwing weapon situation then I emplore you to roll a toon to 50, be it shaman, rogue, monk, whatever, and make the sole focus of your development dexterity. Then obtain tier 5 crafted rare throwing weapons. You will easily find that you kill sorcerors, necromancers, druids, disciples, shaman, warriors, paladins, dreadknights, rogues, rangers, monks, bloodmages, psionicists, and bards solely with throwing weapons and never entering into melee.

The effect is doubled when you are a rogue/wolf shaman and begin your attack from stealth. Note that throwing weapons do not reveal a player from stealth, while a rogue's bow would do so.

Now most people die before they ever find that stealthed shaman or rogue, simple solution is to sacrifice stats on your gear and obtain awareness gear which will allow you to see stealth, which of course means you will not have any hitpoints on your armor. Essentially you will have a tiny warning before you heallth drops to 40% from 2 throwing spears/daggers which noncrit on your silly head for 1000-1600.

I could go on for about 3 more pages but I really think nobody in here cares, but if you do care I suppose I will continue the discussion.

Should you become confused in thinking my arguement is to fix throwing weapon usage from stealth, you are mistaken. The point of my arguement is to leave monk's with the 35m range throwing weapons they currently posess as it is my own experience that 35m is just enough for casters and the like to close the distance to mount a proper counterattack. Provided you soaring loap away from the poor sorceror, obviously he isn't going to catch you.

Anyhow I find this discussion rather aggravating in my inability to properly express just how unbalanced PvP truely is. In the event I succeeded in said expression I will rejoice, l o l.

If ganking = pvp then 45m range = awesome PvP combat.
13  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: What monk stuff would you like to see in APW??? on: October 28, 2007, 11:36:29 AM
In APW there are legendary dusts that drop that you use to make legendary crafted items, one of which can be a handwrap.

400 dmg 150 crit 45 range throwing stars? Hrm no thanks way too powerful.

New armor always nice, perhaps some Shaolin looking robes, with evasion I suppose.

Dropped spells? Perhaps an increased heal? A longer range storm stride? Was very taken aback when I learned the DreadKnight Shadowstep has a 35m range. A special ranged attack that attacks twice on a 20s cooldown? Fang of the flying viper or something, dunno lol.

I always worry about giving too much to one class =P

Where's the key at anyway? Is it that medallion that drops from random mobs and requires sun symbol, etc etc?

Start the quest by talking to the main guy in cragwind. He has you ride the griffon around blah blah. Then talk to the guy against the wall who is a half cyplos or something lol. He explains what you need to do.
