1  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Dragon Breath? on: August 16, 2007, 05:38:12 PM
Its a dragon monk ability.

It actally did pretty decent damage when I was still dragon, but not really worth the refresh or jin..I had fun with it when I used it though.
2  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Sun Strike of Vol Anari on: July 23, 2007, 04:31:21 PM

3  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Soaring Leap - advice? on: July 19, 2007, 09:38:58 AM
I use it ALL of the time...especially to give a lil more speed boost.

I have mine hotkeyed to the number 8 so its easy to get to

Tip: hit the spacebar jump and when you hit the peak of it then use soaring leap, itll give you more of a boost and distance on your jump. You can sometimes outrun bards when you have you movement aum on and soaring leap around all over the place.

You can use it when rooted, you just move int he same direction as you are facing. And when snared you can SLOWLY turn direction and use it.

Great for pvp. The only disadvantage is going uphill in any way, you dont get the boost really. Going downhill is totally fun though get to a high mountain and space bar the soarping leap at peak and see how sweet it is. Just make sure you have ranks in safe fall or you may get hurt a bit lol.
4  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Ancient Ksaravi Ulka on: July 11, 2007, 12:26:58 PM
it has a really cool proc too...you should definitely do the questline when you can so you can equip it..my level 50 has it in her bag for when she feels like equipping it
5  General Topics / Player vs Player / Re: Best style for PvP? on: July 06, 2007, 06:48:03 PM
I dont macro mine quite like yours. All my macros are set for each of my abilities to have my best finishers go off if open first, all the way down to my actual ability...example :

/cast "Steal the Wind III" (debuffing counterattack)
/cast "North Wind Snaps the Limb II"
/cast Celestial Kick of the Master I"
/cast "Kick of the Heavens III"
/cast "Flying Kick V"
/cast Withering Palm I"

what this does is it allows me to be sure to ALWAYS use my finishers when they are available...it prevents me from getting attack happy and not getting to use it.

I don't have an actual pvp macro as every class is different to pvp with and since we don't really have an i win button such as starfall, I don't recommend macroing a pvp battle. Use the best abilities you can and never be caught without jin!

I'll elaborate more on the subject later, I am afk in a group atm...was trying to look something up and this sturck me Tongue

I know this is an old thread, but I just recently made the switch from dragon to harmonious and let me tell everyone...

Harmonious owns up! The fact that you can regen jin in harmonious body leaves us to hardly, if ever to be caught without jin which is a definite plus. The Tiger stance (i think as I'm still new) Allows us to crit a rediculopus amount. Withering Palm is your friend, use it as often as possible. It may cost 6 jin but it does a ton of damage and it debuffs while buffing yourself.

I have to say, over the last 2 days playing a harmonious monk, I have learned to appreciate our class a lil more.

I almost decided to quit my monk altogether, but after this. I am pretty satisfied. I mean, we still need a snare/root and one I win button even if it takes 20 jin with a 10 min cooldown or something rediculous, I just think we need one amazing ability. Until then, I am pretty content for now. I pretty much only have a difficult time with shamans and clerics but other than that, 1v1 a harmonious monk can do well!

also, after you get max faction and you have the orb, you can then gather the items inscripted (Kel Ethla Quel, Sar Zalge Vurm) and 300 motes of power and then you can upgrade them. The dmg has been bugged since beta so don't belive the numbers you see. The positive sides to getting them, They are the longest ranged shurikens in game and they give a +50 to fire absorption buff when they are the upgraded ones. Oh ya, and you get to summon 50 every 5 or 10 mins i don't remember atm so they are free. If you are looking for dmg though, the ranged weapon vendors can sell you ones that do better dmg util it is fixed.
8  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Anyone find "new" ablities yet? on: July 02, 2007, 10:16:43 AM
I couldn't tell you, I got my first update right after that patch, then never saw an update again and I have farmed rahz sooooo many times it's not even funny.
9  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Quinn: Any info you can give us on status of the monks/plans etc. on: June 29, 2007, 11:31:22 AM

10  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Advice for an almost 38 Dragon Monk? on: June 28, 2007, 09:31:34 PM
ehh..pantheon is a pain imo. I have only done it once, so I can't give you great information...especially cause someone else just sumoned me where i needed to be.

The first quest you need to get something to follow you and turn in that quest. The second one is something where they test your ability to survive and you get a wicked meteor storm raging at you that you have to live through or you fail.  One quest is to kill some named snake, one you have to free some innocents..by free u need to kill. some other one has something to do with a flower. Something else you have to get aan item that drops off some guy in order to complete. and at the end there is a named guy you need to hail, then do some long weird battle then you get the cloak. At which point you either keep, or sacrifice for random items and such.

I know this is all very vague, but it really is the best i can do atm..I only did it once and it was a long time ago..and I probably wasnt sober lol. The ulaks are very random so you could do the questline 100 times and never get one or whatnot. The named guy at the end is like a 5 hour spawn or something rather redonkulous.

I know this doesnt help much, but i hope it gives you a lil better of an idea of how it works.

and i have no clue if it is bugged or not. FYI, the part where you need to get some item that drops off some named guy is called like the hunt or something, its timed and only one group can be on the quest at a time and that part seems to be the buggiest part...as i was told.
11  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Drane's armor quests? on: June 28, 2007, 09:23:50 PM
arena coins you recieve from certain mobs and from arena tickets. Coins are what are used to turn in quests for the gear and weapons that are around inside the arena. There is also a horse and a repair bot you can get.

Look around INSIDE the arena for Suspicious Spectators, they are 2 dots and drop 1 coin a piece. Then look for the named mobs like scurvy is at the bottom where tickets are performed, Trakano spawns in the middle (u need to go up the ramp for) next to the repair bot quest giver (you will know who he is by the repair o matic standing in front of him.) Keep looking for others such as them, they will be yellow to start out, but talk to them hail them or whatnot and then you will be able to attack. Be sure to watch their cons before attacking. Trakano and Mr. Briggs are definitely NOT soloable...even at 50!

Some of those named you will kill, have a chance of dropping a bronze, silver, gold or platinum ticket. Each of which are eventsto be spawned in the middle of the arena. Only one event can be spawned at a time. Bronze will give about 6 coins at completion, silver 20 (i think) gold 60 and plat 100! You will need a group in order to comlete the events.

Also, if you head north from the arena you will see a few little area with the same looking creatures as what trakano looks like. Those also drop coins and tickets. There are quests for them as well you may want to do.

There are plaenty of 2 dots just outside the arena to grind on if you would like, but I really recommend killing the mobs that get you coins.

Tip: don't pick up the quests for armor and stuff till you have the coins, look at them all and get a good idea of what number coins you need. When you have enough, go back accept quest, turn in quest. Reason for this: Every time you pick up a coin, it wll lag you out a lil as it will update EVERY one of your quests. So if you have 3 quests that say you need 100 coins, every time you pick up coin, it will say 1/100 arena coins 3 times. It cases a lil lag and looting to be slow.

go to the riftway and check out the quests they have around there.

I hope this helps, let me know if you need anymore specifics
12  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Jin Surge needs revamp on: June 23, 2007, 12:55:38 PM
i disagree. There is a buff icon, it is 10s and it matches the one you see in your abilities. However, if they are autoattacking or casting, they will probably not see it as it will be consumed. It works best when used with a dot as the damage on the dot is increased every tick. Try and group with a necro and have them use their dots with it. You would want to have a macro that tells your group members you are casting it BEFORE you do, like a 5 sec count or something. I use vent, so I just talk it out.

As for using chains, it does work. Pair up with another monk and have them jin surge your finisher. You can not jin surge your own as then your finisher is no longer available which is why I say to pair wih another monk.

13  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Weapon progression help on: June 22, 2007, 09:49:03 PM
i have seen the second to last part of the afrit weapon quest claws and i personally think it is worth it. I can't recall the dps or stats, but it does add to dodge wich is nice and does great dps.
14  Monk Discussion / Monk Quests / Re: Style quest on: June 21, 2007, 04:41:05 PM
after you completed your quest, you should have a new ability in your book called AUM of the Raoring DRagon, or whatever the other 2 may be for drunken or Harmonious. If it is not in your book, then go to the trainer and it may have to be trained through him. After that, you will want to meditate and chant your aum at every level or every other or something. Whne you chant your aum, you will then get blue messages stating that you have learned blah blah blah. The ability will be in your book and you then make hotkeys.

You will want to continue this process until it says in your spam area "you have nothing new to learn at this level"
Some levels you will learn one ability while others you may learn 5, some levels none. You still need to go to a normal trainer may it be in veskal's or khal or arlinora's retreat, ect to learn the basic monk abilities that all monks learn. Those are the ones you have to pay for (except level 50).

Keep in mind that to learn your mastery abilities, you must have a certain amount of jin to do so. I recommend killing a mob or 2 to get full jin, then go sit in a safe spot and meditate chanting the aum. You will have to click the meditate before every aum chant, so it can be a lil timely training.

I hope this all helped you. Welcome to the mastery of Monks! Btw, which path did you chose if you don't mind me asking?
15  Monk Discussion / Monk Quests / Re: Style quest on: June 21, 2007, 07:20:21 AM
I am unaware of ALL the locations for it. I can tell you when I chose my path, I was leveling in Qualia. The trainer in the Port Watch Barracks on the east side of khal gives you a quest to talk to a guy right outside the west side of khal. At that point you discuss with him which path you would like to chose and he sends you off on your quest.

I am currently unaware of other locations, but that is where I did mine.

Good luck!
