1  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: GU 4 bugs - (no drama) - post on: March 18, 2008, 10:30:43 AM
According to today's patch notes.... it's fixed.  Heading into game as soon as Xeth is up, to test this out.  Be a huge relief to all of us who've experienced the 'green bug'
2  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: GU 4 bugs - (no drama) - post on: March 18, 2008, 10:09:25 AM
For now to fix the 'green bug' issue, I just made /assist hotkeys for tanks and/or main assists, and leave my defensive target blank.  Works decent so far, though when i used an ability that self targetted and died, i still had the bug after i returned Sad  I had the bug in the past, though recently it's just appearing alot more often.  Probably the amount of deaths going up since we're getting trained so much on Griffon hunts ;p
3  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: bare hands on: March 18, 2008, 10:05:27 AM
Sadly, while i really enjoyed the animations for bare handed fighting, i believe they're just a leftover from the original plan to have corpse runs... now that everything and it's brother binds when you equip it or pick it up... it's wasted leftover.
Personally, i'd love to see those animations applied to Handwrap weapons.. as it would make sense.  Your just using enchanted wraps around your hand attacks, not weilding a weapon like Ulak or Claws... but no, i get to see goofy extensions off my fists while i fight.  At least they look like primitive clothes irons... that helps ;p

Not positive now, but if i recall right, you can begin factioning at around 24... or, you can start out in the Vulmane areas, and begin getting faction even sooner.  I honestly felt that unless you have a stable group, and had these done by 30 to 32, you were just holding yourself back in xp though.  There's several areas in Qalia that offer good (not great but good)  gear (Arena for one) by just doing normal quests not calling for all of the faction grinding.  VT can quickly become a time sink that is just holding you back from gaining the levels you need to do bigger/better things.

New bugs hmm, chunking while invis... still shows you invis after chunkline, but doesn't seem to really be affecting anything.  FD occasionally interrupting chains (probabl intended dunno).  Matter of fact, alot more interruptions to chains/chains breaking even without misses...  but the one that's still driving me nuts after all this time... not new, but still existing.  Defensive target dies, every key i got is green ripe for rescuing... and suddenly, i can't use a single ability.  Even after i die and respawn, the normal abilities/triggered are all green and locked.... but i can force crit and use criticals if i have the Jin, otherwise... i'm completely gimp til i logout and return.  Had a few fights.. def target died, switched to new def target, and im still stuck unable to attack accept for autos.  Even if i cleared targets completely, paused auto attacke etc... nothing helps short of /logout.  Help me Fuji Wan Kenobi! ;p

p.s. the new graphic changes suck righteously... minor rant time... some of these guys worked on star wars galaxies... an older title... but they had planets without chunks, decent graphics, ability to customize your appearance to a great extent.. and helmets.  Oh, and every piece of armor was visible...  did they completely forget how to pull off these miracles??
6  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Where did the DPS go? on: March 16, 2008, 07:27:18 AM
They did up the difficulty in many of the APW mobs.  Gm's already confirmed that, you'll see a reduction in dps, but i'd say your case is a little extreme.

Just an fyi, in the past, i've had battles where i seemed to never crit, or failed to counter as often as i'd like...  if you see this trend starting, turn off auto attack, and reengage.  I think there's a random factor determined at teh start of your auto attacks... it's always fixed things for me doing that.  Poof, more crits, more counters, more evermonkloving joy Smiley.   Also noticed with encounters that start with me countering before i auto, i tend to get more counters throughout the fight.  Combat seems to follow trends at times, use these increased likelyhoods to your advantage.  Happy Smackdown Cheesy

Anyone know a way to stop his AoE manadrain/PBnuke?

Yeah, it's challenging lol
Can see many future deaths coming just to beat this encounter.  He's a bad mammerjammer..

Are you F'ing serious?

But was it ever intended that we could travel faster than a bard?

I figured them to remove that ability as usable mounted a long while back.  Didn't seem likely it was purposeful

Maybe that's the answer, make Harmonious a buff/debuff oriented disciple ;p
11  Monk Discussion / Monk Tactics & Techniques / Re: Exploding Heart Macro on: March 10, 2008, 04:14:07 AM
I've got mixed feelings on the macro thing anyways.

I'd rather compare myself to a button masher, then someone who's running on auto-pilot.

I just fear another SWG botfest
It's bad enough the crafters are doing it
12  Monk Discussion / Monk Tactics & Techniques / Re: Exploding Heart Macro on: March 09, 2008, 09:27:03 AM
Didn't i read somewhere that there's a change to the game system that covers macro's coming?
Can't recall where i saw it, but seemed to imply you'd be able to add /pause commands.  I'll look for it and link if i find
13  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Monk Wish List on: March 08, 2008, 02:22:15 PM
I'd love to be able to play a bare handed fighting monk.
Don't disc's get handwraps + knuckles lumped together for skills?  We could use a slot for unarmed then...
Hell, i'd take that as a fix for dragon if they did it right.
The animations for bare handed are smooth Smiley

While i have to agree Quinn's absence has me concerned quite a bit... I look forward to his return.  But..
The Monk needs attention.  Fujitsu's doing a wonderful job gathering information, sorting through problems.
Trying to balance/reform/rebuild the Monk.

We need representation

It's a hard balance to stop exploits and still give versatility that players want.
If it stops exploits, then more power to them....
either way do we care?  i cant see it

It's giving in to the loud sobs that caused alot of problems in this game since beta and beyond
15  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Dragon Monk Issues 2.0 on: March 03, 2008, 05:42:03 AM
As usual im at work and didn't get to finish my thoughts.

If you look back to games like EQ, you'll see where classes were imbalanced, in many cases not very functional in groups, and the solution to this was to fix it after you began getting AA's.  End game fixes aren't the answer to any problem.  There needs to be balance throughout the leveling experience as well to make it worth reaching.  Too often in games i've seen where there's classes or abilities (Vg Monk has alot of the ability issues) that weren't where they needed to be until end content and lvls were reached.  Suddenly carrying around this baggage for 30+ lvls was worth it.  Suddenly there was purpose, utility, and everyone was happy.  It's thinking like that which has caused so many games to lockout new players, or force them to be carried along by friends/guilds til they reached the point when they became a viable, playable class.  I can recall an experience in one beta run i was doing where... my character had a spell to buff pets, but had to wait 4 more levels to have one to cast it on.  Abilities in Vg like Pushing Hands, Sun Dragons Carona, Many of the aoe attacks monks receive.. need to be useful, in solo and group play, usable, and desirable... having an ability that doesn't suit the concept of the class/archtype is just wasted filler... give them something they can/ will use.  Not another button just to sit on the bar... or be removed because we'd never touch it.

That's as bad as giving us 3 weapons that are exactly the same;p
