61  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Inter form monk balance on: December 17, 2007, 01:50:10 PM
When i chose drunken after leaving beta i did so because it was said that drunken would be the best survivor avoidance monk tank type. Then the live evasion nerf patch hit due to disciples and it has not been done right to the monks since.
As you said the stances are to (generic) to each other leaving one wondering what the real differences are between the styles.

As a drunken monk i dont have issues being lower on the dps  pole then the other styles,But with THAT cost  i really feel our evasion and general ability to survive incomming damage should be far and away better then the other 2 and right now this is not true.I know harmonious monks in similar gear with the same overal evasion.Any way im just ranting Undecided.
I would think dragons like to think the exact opposite being way higher damage for much less survivability.
where the harmonious takes the path that they are currently on.(I feel harmonious monks are just about perfect with just some minor tweeks needed)
Overall i like the way  you bring these points out and hope other monks will post how they feel  so the big shots at soe can see how we feel.
On a side note  after seeing my small disciple's new stances makes me feel envy that our stances pale in compair.
That being said i am glad disciples got this because god knows they needed it..just envy ours were not thought out like theirs was. Cry

Quinn can you maybe getwith talisker and check that the hate modifier on foolhardy swagger is giving  the proper % ammount. Alot of fight i spam this on the tanks and offtanks  every 18 sec along with goading slap and it doesnt seem to be putting that much hate on my defensive targets, many times hate becomes undone on the tank and when i am spamming the offtank all the hate i can for 2-3 mins before hate drops the offtank is bypassed by the mob and goes right to a different class.
Just maybe make sure its acually giving hate in proper quantity.
Thanks

I wont repond about bugs /harmonious because im not sure but yeah you can change your style through a quest from the monk master in Khal
64  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Drunken Style Feedback Post GU3.3 on: December 15, 2007, 10:53:16 AM
I would like to say i am happy with the  change to foolhardy swagger and ritw/magnificant drunken stagger.
I still would like to see our defensive stance bumped a bit on the evasion area to further seperate us from the other 2 styles in that area(we are the master of misdirection),Take the new disciple defensive stance for example,15 pct dodge,15 pct spell mit,20 pct less hate.
Our stance should increase this by  upping dodge and parry to maybe 12pct parry 12 dodge.
I know i might be asking alot but as drunken we should be the hardest to hit class in game by far and away.
Currently we are not..all 3 styles are way to close in the respect(evasion i refer to).
On a side not id like to also talk about FD.I know there is always give and take when it comes to balance of class,That said may i suggest take FD off global and give it a refresh of 1.This keeps it inline with  a cooldown that the global would incur but allows us to use fd  then pop up and use a skill like throw to create better seperation when pulling.
65  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Raid Arguement on: December 11, 2007, 08:47:13 PM
I got to test the new fool hardy swagger tonight and i just wana say"Nice one on this quinn" Wink.Execellent skill and really helps a ton.In my full refresh haste setup i can recaste this every 19 seconds  with ease.
The benifits from what i saw made our tanks need to use rescues minimal and on boss fights mob didnt even turn.
You are able to cast it at start of fight easily and stay out of combat doing it.It also works very well on yourself along with goading slap and drunken hate generate stance = nice solid agro.

While i do like this new updates skill i still feel jeering kick needs another look at.2 attacks rescue every 30 seconds is a bit short imo to be considered useful.Perhaps make it a duration or add maybe a 4-5 attack set on it.

I enjoyed that post kitsunesama. It was Very well thought out and hopefully quinn can take this info to talisker and push for some of these ideas to all the areas the we as monks feel need work.
67  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Raid changes v2.0 on: December 09, 2007, 08:29:25 AM
I would also like to mention that another good reason for  extra increased resist/hp gear set for monks doing pulls is because the Strikethrough mobs use in apw ignore your evasion defense(parry/dodge). Even ritw doesnt stop the incoming damage from strikethrough.
Swaying step and find the center and magnificant drunken stagger do however stop the incoming damage but those are now both on refresh timers.
Casters currently are the hardest to pull if you are in tight areas because they can nuke from pretty far away and will do so if they are in nuke range.(using Line of sight works awsome btw for this )
68  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: FD 2.0 to arrive GU #3 on: December 08, 2007, 07:07:52 AM
I know there would be no way to make it happen in gu3 but maybe you can throw the idea of taking fd off of the global cooldown quinn?
69  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Raid Arguement on: December 08, 2007, 07:03:28 AM
Because will make raids go faster.

A couple of monks using goading slap = much faster build up of hate on the tank = healers and DPS can go harder sooner.

Safest class for pulling mobs means higher success rate.

Multitude of debuffs are very important.

Amoung the highest DPS after GU3.

But above all what will make your monk wanted in a raid group is how you play it, as you say lots of classes can all do these things in thier own way, but being good at what you do in a raid situation will make you a valuable member of a team and looked for.

All of this couldnt be more True and should only get better for us as the monk class gets further tweaks as the game  progresses.
Though our guild only has 3 monks 2 are Always in the raid. That said I think it boils down to How you and your Guild raid leaders Play.Alot of people still dont realize a monk or 2 monks potential ,its up to us to tell and show them.
70  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Upcomming Raid-based Changes on: December 08, 2007, 06:55:48 AM
As a drunken Monk myself I would love to see another Goading Slap type ability to help give agro to my defensive target . I personally only tank in a few groups outside of raids but  i would still like to see our agro generated better somehow, perhaps a increase of hate on the drunken sway stance.
71  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Upcoming Monk Changes on: December 04, 2007, 01:26:07 PM
So there is supposed to be 2 buffs like the old system? Because on test and live it was changed to just 1 buff icon.
72  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Upcoming Monk Changes on: December 04, 2007, 11:29:01 AM
Thanks for looking into this quinn. I went to avair because i asked other leads who handles class type bugs and they said it was him.I really hope he just doesnt know what he is talking about on this subject, That said  he answered pretty strongly
73  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Upcoming Monk Changes on: December 03, 2007, 07:43:46 PM
Update on the supposed bug to aum liat
I talked to avair tonight and he says it is intended to drop when we get hit as the runspeed is ment for travel only.
So in short "working as intended"
Personally i think the way they have it set is dumb because the only reason to use this buff is for the runspeed..when the runspeed leaves the rest of the buff stays including the +25% end costs and +5% dodge..makes the rest of buff pointless. If they wish to have the runspeed drop on hit then may aswell drop the whole buff because aside from the runspeed protion  its not worth keeping.Just my 2 cents on it
74  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Upcoming Monk Changes on: December 02, 2007, 06:49:34 AM
Okay I have asked for help from a few monks that i could find on test and can confirm that when a mob hits you (anywhere in telon) and you stop running  then continue running the runspeed part of the buff leaves.
The only way to get it back is to recast the buff.
Quinn please check on this when able
75  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Upcoming Monk Changes on: December 01, 2007, 10:48:49 AM
On test today while heading to apw quest npc i noticed a bug with aum liat.
every now and again when i was hit the run speed portion of the buff would stop working. The only way to fix would be to recast the buff.
