The INT is still alive and well on all the APW monk stuf that it was back in testing.
47  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Possible proof that there are NO linked mobs on: January 10, 2008, 03:00:54 PM
While they path together they can be split  same with the roamers in APW.The way this works is there is always a leader and a follower or followers. To break the link nerve strike a follower ,The leader will continue  with whatever other followers  if any are with him..make sure you give lots of room because these roamers have overly large assist range on each other.

It is easy to see who is the leader and who is the follower..simply pull the mobs back a bit then fd..the leader will always run back to origin of pull while followers will always walk back slowly.Using this knowledge you can also solo split these types of mobs using seperation from their leader because he runs and they walk giving you he seperation easily.Again you need lots of room because they reassist at abnormally large range, but they can be fd split .

The difference between the styles is that each style will aquire specific skills to that style that other styles can not aquire.as for the acual damage that will be played in large by your stat build,The only part a style has to play in acual damage is the buff each style gets ,ie 22 pct damage increase on our drunken stance and whatever the other styles damage bonus or negate they might have up.

Clumsy whirl has always been a ae counter attack
Foolhardy Swagger definatly does not  add hate to my defensive target(have tested many different situations and never has it  done what it should do) as a 14 percent hate builder.
After a relog aum liat buff icon stays up but the  effects are gone for the runspeed.
a few  times after a FD mobs still come at me and attack even though the success on fd worked, this has happened in several ways.1 If i nerve strike sometimes very rarely the fd clears the agro but mob comes to kill me anyway.
2 sometimes when splitting a  roamer set and fd works  1 mob seems to continue to agro  and will kill me if i dont re FD(could be due to APW lag issues though)

And not a very good speedbump at that  2funny
All joking aside dps is going to be super important in raids
There will be times where the extra hps will help alot but for the most part i found a balance between them for myself.
It will be up to each monk to find that balance  as they level and play their monks.Sathuil is a heavier dps balance then myself but im prolly more likely to survive the  pulls a tad longer if a fail fdor ritw attack gets in.
In all monk class is a blas to play no matter how you Spec yourself as i really feel there is no wrong way to go(aside from going full vit/wis probably but whoever does that is just  idiot2 i think  2funny)

Yes i use nerve strike while still fd as does my fellow guilded monks..have not had any issues with it going off (make sure its not immune though)
55  Monk Discussion / Monk Tactics & Techniques / Re: Nerve Strike? on: December 25, 2007, 05:09:13 PM
I use it in apw and to pull often.
In APW i pop swaying step, run to the pul set of mobs then fd right at the one i plan to nerve strike.while im fd i  use the nerve strike skill  and quickly get away while the non nerve striked mob chases me,Take him to group /raid then fd and bingo only 1 mob.2 monks using this can  get a single on a pack of 3.

hmm am i missing something here? tried mezzing firesouls, frostsouls, chaos sparkles a few of the golem thingies and they were all mezz immune for me.
so no clue how you use nerve strike or do mobs become mezzable deeper in?

Yes knowing what is mezzable and what is not is the key..rule of thumb is if it floats its not mezzable(keep in mind there are some non floating mobs that are not mezzable)..and yes in a bit stuff becomes able to be mezzed..all robots /elementals are not mezable  btw

There are other fights where we use this like if adds are roaming to the raid one of us monks  runs near add that is coming fd,nerve strike
Also i use it to help CC in other certian fights

Hope this helps a bit
57  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Pulling in APW on: December 21, 2007, 02:09:12 PM
The lone pull, Well if they are roamers and not statics this is easily doen beacause the leader always runs back to pull spot  while his follower walks...using this knowledge on can easily make seperation between roamer leader and follower(kwwp in mind leaders will always need to be pulled last because followers always walk toward the leader).
Statics, Well sergius  has the idea somewhat right  , the trick here is to try and get one caught on a wall or on the other mob or even using line of sight.(yes Line of sight can do amazing things for a puller)
However this takes several attempts and  will work  but can be slow.
Its funny because there has been times where  i would get one mob to camp me for like 5-10 secs then start to walk back and i would think"OMG SOE fixed it smitten" only to have the next few pulls like this take 5-10 goes.  tickedoff
It can be done though.Just keep working at it and eventually ya will find a few tricks that work more often then not.
On a side note....
A 2nd monk for everyguild  imo find another and beg, cry, kick, scream untill they(your guild) grabs them..your guild raiding life will be so much smoother and fun Smiley
58  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Pulling in APW on: December 21, 2007, 05:14:44 AM
The best way is with 2 monks, they can split any number of unmezzable mobs.I'll give out one of many ways to help you here.
Start with the monk who will hold/lead the main pack of mobs away from raid,He will be the inital puller.
The 2nd monk is the tager monk,he will pick one target to take to the raid.
The way this works  is the main monk pull mobs in opposite direction from the tag monk.
Make nots of which mobs cast and which ones that you can not use reed in the wind, find the center or drunken stagger, the ones that you can not easily avoid damage is the mob the tag should always bring to the raid.
Take your time the 1st few tries til you get a feel for how this works.you will both need to fd to remove hate from both monks...usually tagger fd's right when raid tank grabs mob then the main monk will fd.
This setup is super effective but takes good communication between the monks as some times you need to fd/retag mob to create seperation as the tag monk.
Anyway this is but one strat we use and is simple enough and works so well  and when the monks get used to each other is so fast your raid wont be able to keep up with the splits..
Just be creative and you will be amazed at how well it works
59  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Drunken Style Feedback Post GU3.3 on: December 18, 2007, 03:14:55 PM
Not sure if inteneded or not but  drunken monks can hit impossible drunken palm(which forces next attack to crit) then hit Ashen hand (which will be forced crit ) at this point because  ashen hand critted it then pops  all the skill chains again provided they are not on refresh with part 2 of the inital skill chan staying up  (drunken arms of the cyclone) as well as all the others.
its acually pretty nice dps  but unsure if this is working as intended.
60  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Inter form monk balance on: December 17, 2007, 10:12:24 PM
Lol fujitsu,If i ever saw those stance changes id  be 100 pct happy with my drunken.(just the fd stuff fixed and that would clear it up)
As for the  lower dps on the off stance i would have no problems with that, espc with the +5 crit modification to it
The defense stance is about how i envisioned it should be.(i would be happy with 12 pct parry 12 pct dodge)
Perhaps Quinn can read this over and discuss the possibility of talks with devs about maybe working to something like this.
