1  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Please post GU3.2-3.3 Bugs here on: January 25, 2008, 11:58:00 PM
Not sure if this is a new bug or not, as I just started doing Diplomacy today.  When I play a card in a parlay, my harmonious body stance is toggeled off.  Doesn't happen for legendary tiger stance (or immortal crane, I think).

Not really high priority, but threw me for a loop when I didn't have my customary 20 jin at all times so I wouldn't have ot wait to meditate very long to recast aum liat while running around.

Also for harmonious monks we not only have the damage agro, we also have the debuff agro from our attacks.

We are liikely close to the highest dps though, as secret of fire is doing 1200 point hits for me with 2s delay weapons when I'm fully buffed with all of the +int buffs (except on the fire resistant mobs of course).  Add to that the free fists of celerity buffs from the APW armor, and you can do some pretty good damage.

I put up the 5 debuffs at the start of the fight and then instantly feign, followed by another feign about 30s later in the fight.  That usually prevents me from drawing agro unless you're fighting one of the mobs that has the agro-wipe stun on the tank.

I've attached a sample combat log - the secret definitely shows up on it's own line, and it has it's own critical hit line.

After the eagle claw crit hit at the top, the secret of ice also crit hit.  Halfway down the thousand fist crit hit, but the secret of ice did not.

Be sure the parser is smart enough to separate out the secret damage from the normal damage.
Your crit rate for the secrets is probably not your full melee crit rate, and you get 1 secret attack for every normal attack.
If you're at 65% crit for the normal attacks and 19% crit rate for the secrets, then you'd pick a 42% average crit rate.

I'm using a similar setup to you except with less crit gear, and definitely notice a difference in the rate at which my finishing attacks light up when in tiger stance compared to crane stance.
5  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Any word QTM on planed/upcoming changes? on: January 13, 2008, 10:54:38 PM
+50 sdf = 1.4% sdmg increase.  (took me from 100 spdmg to 102.
Although i noticed NO increase to secrets dmg with spell dmg focus.

Gonna test out some int again make sure it still works because i see no reason spdf shouldnt.

There are some mobs in APW which are healed by certain types of spell damage.  On the ones healed by frost and fire, I've noticed they take less damage from our secrets with that type of damage, but they are not healed by it.

My guess is the secrets are treated as melee damage of the appropriate type, not spells.
6  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: knuckles from APW on: December 24, 2007, 11:54:55 AM
It is still the entry wing, so presumably better weapons later on.  Also we don't know what the base damage of a legendary level 53 1h weapon is, so don't know if some of the bonuses include a bonus to the damage, same way that striking works.

Anyone recommend a good offhand weapon to go with it?
7  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Building a monk alt, few questions on: December 24, 2007, 08:48:13 AM
1. all monks get it
2. dragon is supposed to be highest dps, but they need to be able to use aoe attacks to get their best dps
3. dragon is dps, harminous monks add debuffs (can always keep up 3, 5 about half the time if you're not tanking), drunken have taunts and aggro control so can offtank
4. 4 weapon skills maxed, 5th almost maxed
5. think the common wisdom is bladestaffs for harminous, h2h for the other 2, ymmv (not a big difference)

10  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Upcoming Monk Changes on: November 07, 2007, 09:05:44 AM
While they're making all of these changes, any hope they can fix storm stride for harmonious monks and have our debuffs land when we use it?  Currently if you are outside of melee range and storm stride in using an ability, you get to hit the target for the damage, get the self buff if it applies one, but don't put the debuff on the target.
11  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Your Chance To Speak - Medium Class Armor from APW on: November 06, 2007, 08:26:29 PM
None of the medium armor sets have any type of endurance regen?   Think they missed a stat when designing them.

Otherwise the basic stats look like what a monk needs in a raid - mostly damage with just enough hps to survive area effect attacks.

Hopefully the equipped ability is something different than just more stats.  Otherwise it looks like Hegnarians medium melee pieces extended to a full set and added int for the upcoming changes.
