I think they ought to add a +HP per level to soulbound items. Say +3/level for chest giving +150 at max level for that item. It could be +1 for each slot or even a differnt bonus for soulbinding.
Then people would almost always soulbind, giving a counter to mudflation and the bonus wouldn't give a game ruining amount, just enough that it'd be worth it most times.
EQ's economy was good for a lot longer than 2 months. I think people mistake a good economy with being able to get what they want for a cheap price and sell for a high price.

Oh good, I like the EQ splitting too. As long as we can split mobs down to their smallest parts better than other classes I'm happy.

I'm not sure if you were asking me, but I wasn't splitting, just watching someone split, but he peeled them off one by one somehow. My monk started the day before yesterday and won't get FD till tomorrow.

I would say that neither monks or rogues are happy with their class in general, but I think bloodmages, druids, Paladins and Necros all like they way they are.
I come from a Bloodmage/necro background and everyone seems happy and wants to stay under the radar to avoid nerfs. There's bugs they want fixed, don't get me wrong, but they all seem to think the class is at least running pretty much the way it should.
I'm not sure about the Disciples.

If FD is broken, then what's it supposed to work like?
I just barely started my monk, but the reason I did start it was because I watched a monk that was splitting mobs. I hope it's still going to be possible to break things down for the group so we can be the main pullers given the situation of non-linked groups.

The funny thing for me was I have a monk, rogue and blood mage. Three of the bottom five.
I tried a cleric, but that was too easy. You almost have to work to die. While I like to watch TV while I play sometimes, I like to have a bit of a challenge occassionally. In EQ Clerics were easy to play, but you really had to watch aggro and know when to pop the Divine and when to save it. There was also a whole deal with maintaining efficiency so the group wasn't slowed down. In Vanguard Clerics don't have to worry about aggro nearly so much, they can solo very well and they're wanted in groups. They have it all.
The surprise on the list for me is the Shaman. I've never played with a Shaman in a group so I figured they'd be low. I'm kind of surprised there's no Tank that stands out as superior.

There's a lot of complaints I understand, but this isn't one of them. [To OP]
It's still 2X or more WoW, and I think it's harder than EQ ever was. They didn't adjust is so that you level to 50 in a week of normal hardcore play.
My bigger complaint is that everything feels like a grind. There's just not enough cool places to go. Instead of grinding through levels we should be out there adventuring and seeing all the cool stuff and have dings come as a bonus to good hard fun.
I like hard, I wish they'd take down all the glowing Quest signals and the red tick that shows the way to places and I wish instead of a map with trails they'd give you a blank sheet on the computer and make you draw the map. Anyway, I think maybe the XP isn't the real issue.

I think what he did better than any other monk I've played with started with his taking control of positioning for the pulls. He had a macro that said something like, "Please move up to right here, but not beyond." I think at first it kind of annoyed a couple of people and at least one was for letting the tank pull, but the tank said to give the monk the lead because he [the warrior] had never been in the dungeon.
When he pulled the target into the group he FD in a good position to let the tank take it without letting it jump to the casters. If the warrior didn't grab it, it was outside the group aggro. I think the warrior was good as well, or at least he paid attention and grabbed aggro without any fuss or going out too far and getting adds.
When it did get to the group the monk would wait a bit for old aggro to go, then pop up and set up conditions to be taken advantage of and just go pure DPS, up to the point he took aggro, then he'd shake it off and go for the next pull. His timing was almost always perfect giving us just enough time to kill one, and be waiting for the next. He was careful to watch the healers mana level, but if another class burned through their mana/sta he'd pull anyway and the group learned to conserve.
The last thing was he knew the dungeon better than anyone, or at least acted enough like he did to inspire respect in the group so we had one leader and not 6 people all wanting to try a different direction and getting adds unintentionally.
Some of it wasn't the monk ability so much as leadership, but the monking made it a breeze to heal for. I was a bloodmage at the time.

Last night I was killing bears and other low level stuff and three times none of my skills were active.
I had full stamina, the skills went inactive from the very start. My shuriken worked, but none of my attack skills. They were all just gray. I tried hitting attack off and back on, and I tried targetting something else and then back to the guy hitting me. Swaying step also worked, just none of my other skills.
It wasn't a big deal, I was level 7, and fighting right next to a shrine. I just wanted to see if anyone else had this problem or if I missed something I needed.

I just joined the forums and started a monk. My character name is Satsuu Jinto on the Thorendyl server. I started him up last night and got him up near level 9.
The reason I wanted to try a monk was watching someone on Shidreth that just blew away every other monk I'd played with. It really showed how strong the class could be played.
These forums look great, I'll see you all around.

Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Types of weapon skills
|

I read somewhere there are 7 types of weapon skills and that you can only max 5, or maybe 4.
Could someone list the 7 types for me? I don't seem to be able to find a list. I'm sorry if I missed it somewhere. I'm at work or I'd just look on my character.
I haven't actually started my Monk yet. I was in a few groups recently and had 3 different monks in my group. One of them was spectacular, splits and pulls were spot on. We had one mob being killed and one mob waiting almost all the time. At the same time the monk did a lot of damage and set up just the right conditions on the mob at the start of each fight.
He was the lowest level of the three monks I grouped with so it was a clear example of how much difference personal skill mattered in the class. Now I want to give it a go so I'm trying to plan a path.
