1  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Celestial Ward Armour on: July 08, 2008, 09:18:30 PM
Okay I know this subject has been driven into the ground, but seeing that I have not played the game in nearly a year I figured maybe some things have changed.

I am a level 37 Monk right now and have just begun the Celestial Ward quests.  My faction is about 600 or so atm.  I guess I did quests last year and don't remember.  Because right now there are NO MORE QUESTS available to me in the Wardship of Sleeping Moon.

Where does one go next, after Wardship, to continue and raise faction?

And where do the Armor quests begin... in Wardship or somewhere else?

And finally, I swear, the main reason I am doing this is for the Throwing weapon reward.  Is all the time and grind really even worth it considering I am 37 now?
2  Monk Discussion / Monk General / OMG! Coming back after nearly a year. on: July 05, 2008, 08:52:07 AM
Hey guys and gals,

I've been away from VG for about 12 months.  I recently came back, like A LOT of people, and have been plesantly surprised by how well the game is running.  However, with so many changes I feel kind of lost regarding content and what's new for our class.

My Harmonious Monk is 36 now.  I love the changes to dps and class overall.  Man, when I left it was a brutal life for the Monk.  It feels pretty sweet now.  FD is actually useful!  /gasp

In 2007, I finished Pantheon for my Ulak, did Panther's Mask, finished HL quest line.  But I totally forget what I was working on.  My question is this:

At my level, where is the next essential area to hunt with a Monk?  I checked Cragwind but tbh I am not about to farm 500 slivers for the 2hander.  As great as it looks, I imagine Graystone would be a better call in a few levels.

What gear/quests are considered a MUST DO for Monks approaching 40?

What has been added that all Monks "need to know"?

And also, is Reed in the Wind still our only learned abiltity?

Finally, is Celestial Ward faction worth doing now for the Shuriken?  Back in the day it was nerfed and Monks were pretty upset about it.  So I never started that grind.

Thanks for the feedback, and really happy to be back!!
3  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Celestial ward throwing weapon on: August 18, 2007, 08:34:44 AM
All I have to say is FU*K this change!!

We have waited, what.... nearly 9 months for the fix to ranged damage and they nerf the main high end shuriken for all Monks?  You know what...

Vanguard can kiss my ass.  These devs are a joke.  Insulting just became down right ignorant of the player base.
4  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: large, disturbing, vanguard update on: July 26, 2007, 10:04:05 AM
With every "official" post from Sony about Vanguard, my hopes of Vanguard being fixed and fun again are basically washed away.

I love how they announce a Necro Class lead btw, and are still using the Players as class leads.  What a joke.

There is no way Vanguard will survive to see the year 2009.  Such a waste of talent.
5  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Soaring Leap - advice? on: July 21, 2007, 10:00:29 AM
How did you bind Soaring Leap to "x"?
6  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Soaring Leap - advice? on: July 19, 2007, 08:52:18 AM
Okay I absolutely hate the fact that Soaring Leap isn't passive and linked to the spacebar.

So, just wondering how other Monks have this ability hotkeyed?  Is it something that you use a lot?
7  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Drane's armor quests? on: June 29, 2007, 09:06:19 AM
Thanks Skyfoxx!  That was all the info I needed.  Sounds like a great place to exp if one has a static group.  Alas, I find myself solo most of the time because either I play at weird time (daytime), my guildmates are higher than me and moved on, and my server pop doesn't pickup LFG monks often.

I am now 65% into 32 and have completely run out of areas to quest solo.  I tried a few chunks in Qalia (Karrus Hakrel, and the area just East of it) but most of the quests were Group.

Any suggestions for a solo 32 almost 33 Monk?  Besides the faction grind of Wardship would be awesome.

I actually spent the day playing EQ2 yesterday.  GASP.

When you say grind IN the arena, you mean actually IN the arena?  The mobs there were 39 3-Dots I think, purple.

And explain 5k coins, no idea what that means heh
9  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Drane's armor quests? on: June 28, 2007, 09:24:03 AM
Bummer.  I went to the Arena @ Seawatch Coast and the first quest conned purple to me at 32.

The vendor rewards are all lvl 39, Uncommon as well.  So I guess I am too low to grind at the Arena.

10  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Jin Surge needs revamp on: June 23, 2007, 04:56:29 PM
Two monks duoing just to get to most out of Jin Surge?  Sounds.... interesting but no thanks.

I am asking for a revamp because as a solo monk, the ability is almost useless.  And in groups, off Vent, it's very hard for them to tell when it is on even with a macro.  People don't pay attn to chat all the time.  Especially these days.

All I am asking for is a hard number.  And I would love to see Jin Surge not cancel out Reactions.
11  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Jin Surge needs revamp on: June 23, 2007, 10:57:00 AM
Jin Surge does not give a modifier or buff icon, so groupmembers rarely know when it is on them, unless Monk spams macro.  And nobody knows exactly what the "extra damage" is intended to be.  There is no text in combat reflecting Jin Surges extra damage.

Jin Surge does not affect Reactions.  Finishing Moves and Adv Finishing Moves would be best combo for solo Monk using Jin Surge naturally.

At the moment Jin Surge is basically a wasted slot for a hotkey.
12  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Patch Issues: Build 1843 on: June 15, 2007, 11:27:52 AM
I havent been able to stay connected for more than 15 mins without CTD.  And After about 2 reboots, I give up on the game.

It's getting ugly.
13  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Drane's armor quests? on: June 15, 2007, 11:26:34 AM
There are 3 premium grind spots for good equipment in the lvl30s: the Arena (grind coins), the Wardship (grind faction), and Craigwind (grind slivers).

Can ya give a super quick and easy geographical guide to each area?  Thnx
14  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Drane's armor quests? on: June 06, 2007, 02:06:54 PM
Okay thanks for the heads up.

I recently just finished the Shadowhound quest, following the Feline Mask quest.  And after those two back to back, the last thing I want is another grind.  Perhaps I will skip it entirely.

Where does one start the quests for Drane's armor?
