1  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Proposed/Suggested Changes to Sun Dragons Corona on: January 09, 2008, 03:18:41 AM
How are you guys able to get that much hp?  I think I have near 4800 - 5000 or so.  I am tryin a new con/int build with str/dex maxed and I am loving the damage, but the low hp kinda sucks.  Even when I put non into int I had about 5300.  I am a quali human.

Remaster before Jan 3rd (Thats when Randolph goes away) so its much easier.  You can switch in about an hour if you can fly.

Like I said though, why would anybody want a dragon monk in their group when they get can a str debuff, 2 damage debuffs,  melee haste debuff, and a mitigation debuff.  Not to mention if by some small chance a raid mob agros a harm monk he can dodge 100% for 20 seconds.  If a raid mob agros a dragon monk in storm stance, he is goin down in 1 - 2 hits.

I tried to solo TWO 4 dots (level 56 and 57 in ich tunnels) today, and succeded with nerve strike.  I quickly dps the first guy while the second is stunned.  Use Celerity + Jin Surge + PeH and destroy the first one fast.  You should be able to take him down before the back guy is unstunned.  Then finish off the back guy with basic quivering palm/RitW.  Though I am a quali human I can also avoid all damage for 10 seconds..  Might not be able to solo 2 4dots 100% of the time. But it IS possible to do this.

I've never been a drunken monk.  But as a dragon monk I could solo 4 dot level 47s about 50% of the time.  As a harm I can solo them about 95% of the time (I failed once due to tons of unusual misses).

There are just no skills at all as a dragon.  Dragon breath is meh.  Aspect is useless and only good if you are going to invis your defensive target as the invis put on you is terrible, but defensive invis is perfect.  Feet is a good skill when used with jin surge.  The AoE finisher is useless.

The main thing with dragon is the steep penalties for stances, which make no sense.  In offensive you have 0% mitigation.  In defensive your dps is even worse due to slower skills.  HP regen is terrible.

Jin regen with harm is awesome.  30% crit if you are using aum ti is amazing.  Parry + Dodge 8% is awesome with lowered end costs.  Nothing is really being penalized.  Not to mention I do more dps over a longer period of time due to armor/damage debuffs.  If you don't kill something quick with a dragon monk, you can't go the full 10 rounds.

Still angry, but love harm since its so overpowered.  Smiley

I have been a dragon monk since launch.  After tryin to consistantly solo mobs, and failing, I finally broke down and went harm.  There is 0 reason to be a dragon monk right now.  I soloed a 47 4dot (ich) without taking a single point of damage.  He didn't hit me once.  I do much better as a harm.

Our find the center is sun dragons corona I guess, which is one of the worst abilities ever...  Angry!

Well it gives the defensive target an awesome invis now.  But the invis it puts on you doesn't even work.  I don't understand Tongue
6  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Aspect of the Spirit Dragon on: December 20, 2007, 04:02:01 AM
I have one suggestion, one statement and one question about this ability.

Statement:
First, the new end cost is perfect I think.  Much better than getting up your jin for a crappy ability.

Suggestion:
Maybe using aspect could give you two buff icons, invis and levitate.  So you could disable one part if you wanted.

Question:
Is it just me, or does the defensive target invis that this skill gives 100% amazing (My buddy can walk passsed 50 6dots), but mobs 5 levels (and even sometimes much lower) see right though MY invis?
7  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Please post GU3.2-3.3 Bugs here on: December 12, 2007, 11:04:17 PM
I havnt posted here in awhile, but I am still noticing when you are in offensive stance (Dragon), I have 0.25% mitigation.  Out of stance I have 15% mitigation.  Even if it reduced it by a hard 10% that doesn't come out right.  Very confused.

In defensive stance I find I can plow t hough things I couldn't before, especially with the new ignore pain.  In offensive stance I am getting destroyed because I have pretty much 0 mitigation.  They should either fix it, or if it is as intended, think of another downside to dragon stance.  As the attack monk I would expect to be in offensive stance, not forced to defense if I want to solo for armor quest.

Every MMO since WoW has been released that makes a change is always being flamed for making the game like WoW.  These are not earth shattering changes like the CU, or NGE in SWG.  And unless the game turns into saturday morning cartoons with the ability to max level in a week, I don't see how you can compare it to that horrible game.  Make valid arguments.  That is how things get done.  But please, for the love of God, do not even use WoW in your post.

Telling someone to not get an item isn't very smart.  It only takes an hour or two nowadays and it is definately worth getting just to say you have it.  And there are other ways of getting things to stack...
10  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: Advice for an almost 38 Dragon Monk? on: May 25, 2007, 10:42:27 AM
I am 50 and use 2 pantheon claws.  Quinn told me yesterday that a good combo would be Hand of the Godking as primary with the pantheon as an offhand.  Until you can use the Godking I would go with two pantheon weapons.

I wish they would combine the handwraps and knuckles skills instead of having 3 hand weapons to increase.  Would be nice to have all hand weapons, martial sword and bladeded staff.  Meh..

In PvP, when I fight my buddy, if he sees I do thee finger strike he just stuns me cause he knows he is about to become very dead.  Maybe switch hammer fist to the first attack and make it stun, 3 finger strike could be the 2nd attack and lower mitigation by a small amount, and then of course finish off by exploding some hearts.

Quinn, can you recommend any good 50+ H2H weapons?  I still use pantheon weapons due to the insane crit amount.  I havn't found anything that compares.  Others might have 20+ dps more than my weapons, but I can crit on almost all attacks, especially in storm dragon stance.  I ask you because maybe I have missed the introduction of GOOD H2H weapons other than godking and greystone, which are just horrible.

Very well said.

This can only be a good thing, if they stick to the promise of not changing, but improving the game with fixes/content.  I am very excited right now.  I just hit 50 today, so I am anxious for some new content and monk fixes.  Yay SOE!
14  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: So the new cleric patch now puts a monk to shame as well... on: May 13, 2007, 01:12:01 PM
That is wonderful you feel that way, it really is.  But I don't pay a monthly fee if I don't think the game is getting the updates it deserves.  That is exactly what the monthly fee is, to support the update team.  The entire game has its problems, and that is why population is dipped to dangerous lows, especially in the monk crowd.  Our negative comments may come out of anger, but most of us are also providing feedback to make us a more rounded class and get us where we should be.  I don't have time to make alts.  I am level 49 and don't plan on getting another toon up that high.
15  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Bugs introduced with 5-11-07 patch on: May 12, 2007, 02:36:59 PM
I think that the mitigation thing is how they intended it to be.  My thinking at first was:
If you had 9% melee mitigation (Which is way too low anyways, but thats what I have at 48 in no stance), then the 12% penalty (Level 30+) would come directly out of that.  But it seems like it is taking it out of your total mitigation.  9% - 12% penalty = 0% since you cannot have negative thank God.  That is just my thinking, but maybe I am crazy from lack of sleep.  Anyways, it seems very Sigil to give 0% mitigation since all classes have steep penalties for stances.  Some are being removed I hear though.
