1  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Melee critical hit rating on: June 06, 2007, 05:17:58 AM
This is probably to be classified as a noob question.  Smiley

I got my hands on " Bloodstained Wristguards". It has a  "+13 Critical melee hit rating".

A couple of questions.
What does thet +13 mean? i look at my char sheet and no change seems to occur. I still have a 9.1 % increase in melee crit hit bonus, found under dexterity, no matter if I equip or no. No change under attack either. Am I missing the place to look?

When i look in the wikis this item is listed as having a "+13 critical melee hit chance" instead of rating. Is this just  a typo or is something changed so my item is now bugged?

Well at least its a patch. Seems like they are getting their house in order and start to produce things. Hopefulle this is a start of something better.

No Monk stuff but a lot of other good stuff.  Smiley

Dont worry thell get around to us eventually. Personally i think they want to complete a few classes so they get them right and then bring the rest to the same level. if you adjust all at the same time youll never get it right.

Just turned 18 as a Drunken monk.

Spinning Fist 1
Cost 4 Jin
Range 5
Refresh 5
Offensive target
Cast : instant

A precise attack that deals a minor 93 to 103 damage but will always result in a critical hit.

As far as im concerned, if you have to go balls to the wall with math numbers to see if a change even occured, then no changed has occured.

On the contrary, game balancing means looking at the serverwide statistics and do the adjustments on that scale. You as a player dont have the data available that the devs have. So they will play  the numbers game so the serverwide  data looks the way they want to.

Whether they are competent enought to get it right remains to be seen. Time will tell, its early yet. Smiley

agreed Vaiya. Not everything is about numbers. A smartly played character of any class is more useful than a stupidly played toon, no matter how uber. IThe player is more an issue than the toon usually.

Soluss, they were about my lvl. 2 green dots as i remember it. I took about 50-60% damage and the cleric took about 30-40% somewhere. and he was using a 2 -handed weapon.

I dont think he was healing himself but of course my reading of his "red bar" might be sluggish because of gamemechanics. But even if he was the thougt that he, all things considered, was doing better than me was a bit weird.

As for nerfing..

I watched a lvl 10 cleric beat up a few lions east of Khal. I saw him do three in three attempts. I noticed how much damage he took on his red bar.  Then he left.

I then proceeded to attack the same lions...at lvl 16 i took far more damage then the cleric did measured as % of the red bar. . I might have finished the lion a bit faster and I got xp for them.

Having checked with other monks i feel my armor is about right for my lvl ( AC 300+).

Now it feels odd that a lvl 10 cleric is a better soloer than a lvl 16 monk when fighting the same monster.
I hope the new damage system using weapon damage will help the situation.
