I don't think there is any monk out there that is satisfied with where the class is. I certainly am not. I think we need a good upgrade to our DPS, FD needs to be fixed, and our stances need tweaking. With all that said, nothing about the monk class should make a skilled knowledgeable player not want to group with you. Anyone who is worth anything will know that the skill of the person playing the class is worth a lot more than the class itself. I have yet to come across any quest or NPC that my group could not kill because I was a monk and not a ranger.
My only advice is to just enjoy the game. Build friendships. Play with people you know.

I never ever said I was happy with where the Monk DPS was at this point. It needs to be increased. And I never said that was the only problem.

This means I am not happy with where the Monk DPS is. Other classes will be able to reach a higher top end of DPS, but we will start out strong and finish strong.
As for the berserker, if you read the quotes you will see that he does more damage as he continues to take more damage. His highest damage output is when he is on the brink of death. High Risk = High Reward. This also means the berserker will have to have aggro in order to dish out punishment.
IF THE MONK DPS IS PUT WHERE IT WAS STATED IT SHOULD BE, the monk will have a niche and a definite place in a group.

First off, no one knows when berserkers will be in game. There has been no announcement so lets not worry about that.
Monk should be the highest base damage. We are consistent DPS. Ranger, in a longer fight, will out dps a monk. Shorter fights the monk will rule. Rogue will do the best burst DPS. Now both ranger and rogue can out damage us in longer fights, however, the Monk has the best de-aggro move. We are much less risky DPS. Neither the ranger nor the rogue can dump aggro like a monk. If the monk DPS is brought to where it should be, we will be an attractive option DPS wise. We will certainly be much easier on a healer. I am not sure why everyone is so worried about our niche. Our niche is high dps with great ability to dump aggro.
As for off-tanking, until nerve strike does not work on a mob I am not sure what use off-tanking has. Maybe on 2 and 3 dot mobs in a group where u are not considered about going out of mana on your healer but more concerned about how quickly you can kill mobs. I am sure at some point a mob will come along that nerve strike does not work on, but until then ... And as for an off-tank, again monks have something that other classes don't have. When the main tank turns onto the mob we are off-tanking, we can quickly dump aggro back on the tank where it should be.
I like playing a monk, and I do think we are a viable class. I have no problem getting groups. I do hope our dps is increased as it should. I also hope that stances are looked at too to make them all have a purpose.

U do not need a lvl40 tank. I did with myself, a 35 tank, and a 37 disciple. Was no problem at all, think we did all the quests in an hour or hour and a half.

The sad part is that I liked storm stride the way it was. This is actually more of a nerf than an aid by fixing this. Now I have to by shurikens, and I have to get closer to a mob to pull it. I am hoping the DPS increase is more than what I have seen stated on the boards.

Monks are not supposed to have a meter. We are high constant DPS. The problem is our DPS is not high. We should do the same damage throughout the fight. The ranger should start out lower. As his bar goes up, he begins to catch up to our dps. When his bar goes to 4 out of 5 he should be out dps'ing us. At 3, he is equal. Anything lower he is doing less. And at 5, he is doing hella own damage.
In current reality, ranger is out damaging us at about level 1. By level 2, he is doing damage that a monk can only dream of. And anything higher, and a monk would be flat out keal over and die if we could do that much. We might actually be able to draw aggro and have to use FD.

I believe the endurance bar was supposed to make it so that you could not spam special attacks. However, people constantly bitch and moan because their endurance bar depletes to quickly and they can not spam special attacks. I believe monk would be higher on the dps chain if special attacks were limited for all classes. Of course if you limit the nubmer of special attacks everyones dps will go way down and it will take longer to kill mobs and people will bitch that it is too hard.

Why post here to tell us you are cancelling your account? Who cares? If you don't enjoy the game, don't play it. There is nothing constructive about this post. I actually enjoy this game, and I like the content. Do I want the monk to get some fixes? Of course. But I still like playing my monk, and still enjoy the game. I group whenever I can, which is actually quite often.

There is a place in thestra by the coastal graveyard, one of the light houses, where you can have the guards throw you back and forth over the wall. Your safe fall skill seems to go up once for every throw over the wall. It is actually quite fun.

Do you have to have a certain level of faction to get the quests? The only quest I can get right now is more foes of sleeping moon and I am lvl34. Did the first recondite quest, but did not get a follow up. Where is the dungeon and how do I get a quest for the dungeon?

The only one I hold out hope for is crescent kick. The others that affect me are mostly on 5min timers or requie successful dodge/parry. Oh, I guess they did up the damage on my low dmg debuff. Yippee! Would rather they increase the duration of Eagle's Claw than up its dmg. Increase my dmg on crescent kick, my finishers, my advanced finishers, and Ashen Hand. Not my debuffs

Off-tanking is what u want our niche to be? Why would I want to off-tank instead of nerve strike? Makes no sense. I don't want to fill the role of off-tank. I would like more evasion to help me solo. But honestly, I am not looking to fill the role of off-tank. I would rather nerve strike an add and kill a single.
You don't want to be defined as a puller but u want to be defined as an off-tank? If you want to tank, go make a tank. I played monk for its DPS, and FD. Not to be an off-tank.
Harmonious the best debuffer of light fighters? No where close. Bard rules in this department, and should rule in this department.
Monks should have the highest sustained DPS. Rogues should have the highest burst DPS. Rangers should have the highest ranged DPS. I just don't understand how a Ranger can get so much more utility and is still expected to bring more DPS to the table. I like all of you are really trying to figure out where the monk fits.
