Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Ignore Pain

I am lvl 50 and duel wield torch bearers. My DPS still stinks in comparison. And now I hear bards running around talking about how the new changes may let them even surpass us in DPS. I have the best monk weapons in the game and still would get owned by a ranger and maybe even a bard now.

Not sure how we can compare ourselves to dread knights. Does not really make sense. Increasing the ignore pain effectiveness is really low on my priority list. However, I do get a bit upset when I realize that rangers can heal themselves all the time and bards get a mask with a 1200hp heal which can be used much more frequently than ignore pain. Still boggles my mind how a class that gets a heal, snare, massive range dmg, root, and charm can justify having significantly more damage than us. Screw ignore pain, I want more dps. And I want FD to work as intended. I want monks to have a purpose, and increasing ignore pain doesn't get us there.

That is the weapon from the sleeping moon quest line. It requires a lot of faction. You need to have 11,900 faction to qualify. Being an Orc Monk, that meant I had to be max faction before I could get the quest. There is also an upgraded version that adds 50 fire resistance. I believe there are other posts on these boards that cover the quest.

Bounty Hunter quests for some pretty good armor for the level. Dargun Tomb (Northern Border, Thestra) is great xp if you can get a group. Berainaid Hills has some good quests if you can actually get through the fence. Strandon and Dragon Backbone have a ton of quests around that level. I personally did Dargun Tomb until about lvl40, but I had a standard group of 3 that I grouped with. Not to mention, Thelassen over by Sleeping Moon is really good xp. And you can start building faction for the must-have summonable shurikens.

Well I definitely got sick of hearing all weekend how awesome the bards new abilities were from the bards I grouped with. Not only did they get their existing abilities fixed , but they got new abilities. Hmmm the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. So bards get a mask that gives em a 1200 hp heal, and now they have an ability that lets them regen their endurance. And monks get? Nothing! We get to play with a lvl50 chain that barely tickles the mobs big toe. I understand Talisker plays a bard, but come on. I don't even care if we get new abilities, just fix the ones we have.

We do get another Aum at level 50 called Aum Kor. And it is pretty good. The last thing I am worried about is another Aum. Fix the gimp Palm Explodes The Heart Chain. Fix FD. Fix our DPS. etc etc

You need 11,900 faction, which being an orc required me to get 20K faction change, in order to get the shuriken weapons quest. Just an FYI ... And that is for the initial version of the weapon. You need max faction to get the legendary item.

Can someone please post the drunken monk stances as they are at lvl50? I know they were changed a while back and am trying to figure out what they look like now.
Thanks

I think part of the reason you do not see your DPS going up significantly is that our kicks are not affected by weapon damage. Other than getting gear with %dmg modifier, there is no way to improve that damage. I would love to see something added to game, maybe a shoe of some sort that would allow us to increase that damage.
As for our dps, I think we are still behind where we need to be. I was waiting for this huge boost at lvl50, but have not seen it. Aum Kor definitely helps. I am duel wielding Torch Bearers, and it still does not seem like I keep up with a ranger less equipped even in the beginning of fights. I also find it disturbing that I can get owned by the named mobs in Thelassen. By lvl50, you would think I should be able to solo those without burning all of my specials.

I understand the jin based argument, but iron hands is a 5 min duration so I don't see how withering palm can't be. As for stacking, you can not stack withering palm because you only get one version of it.
I have tried stacking deadly adder hand, however when stacked I seemed to still get hit just as much with all levels of deadly adder hand as I did if only one version of adder hand was on the mob. The effect did not seem to stack. Anyone have a different experience with this?

I thought they were going to change the duration on Withering Palm to the same as Steal the Wind: 1 min debuff and 5 min buff. Is this in the plans at all? It would make the ability much more usable. I had also read that the ability could stack up to 3 times but that does not seem to be the case.
