This ever happen to any of you other Drunken Monks?  Apparently I was so drunk I started slapping myself? BTW, this is just one page, it goes on til I die Smiley  Happened twice tonight in Rhaz Inkur. I couldn't help but giggle, then moved Slap Hands off hotbar because the second time it happened was on Majordomo Sad

Minor upgrades, major nerfs.....seems they are 'fixing' some minor things, while removing the little utility monks had earned.  Not sure I can classify this as 'monk love'. Was hoping for quite a bit more before the nerfs rolled in again.

I totally agree here. Losing my faith quicker and quicker, prolly gonna end up rerolling.

I wanted to double check to see if the hate generated by Drunk Mastery will be significant

The hate component in the Drunken mastery stance should be greater than that in the old drunken fist stance so if you need to do some aggro control switch stance to this one. Alternatively, you could do as Fusoya had thought up and use your aggro abiilities while in defensive stance (Sway) not sure how viable it is.

Currently on live the new Drunken Mastery Stance doesn't list the percentage of additional aggression (unlike Drunken Fist which states 25%) The fact that it isn't displayed anymore screams nerf to me, but I've turned into a pessimist this week.

Fusoya 'thought up' spamming a 200 damage (no weapon damage added) 2 hit rescue alternating with a no damage 5 hit ae rescue so that aggro could be kept while in defensive stance? Is it viable? sure, thats 100 damage a second.


What it basically comes down to is this. Why put aggression on a stance that doesnt let you take/avoid hits better? Why put avoidance/mit on a stance that doesn't let you keep aggro better? If Sigil insists on giving an OFFENSIVE fighter all this aggression/rescue/avoidance stuff, then they need to start doing it in a way that makes sense, or scrap the whole thing and make us an OFFENSIVE fighter FFS.

It's not what he/she posts it how its posted..it comes off as arrogant and cocky .  Its also wrong to say that it works fine because you found a work around for something when indeed it does not.  I can pull singles too thats not the point, the point is that its not working like its suppose to.  It has been stated by developers that it is not and it has been stated how it is suppose to work.

For someone to come in here and say that we are all wrong and it works fine is cocky and arrogant. I still stand by what I say...Its not working as intended...it needs to be fixed...and I am tired of hearing otherwise because some uber leet level 50 found a way to work around it.  I have found many ways around it...they all involve exploits....yes pulling 4 mobs so that one camps you is indeed an exploit.  It is no different then getting a mob stuck on something.  You are abusing mechanics to make them work to your advantage in an unintended way.

The world has gone crazy because I finally agree with Soluss!

If you are tanking you'll prolly want to go with Drunken Mastery as it has evasion, hate and refresh haste that does stacks with Aum Kor.


Haste refresh from stance is not stacking with Aum Kor on live atm.

When off-tanking your dps goes to literally nothing, average hit for around 200 with no chains as they will interfere with the spamming of Jeering kick. If timed right you can weave in reed in the wind and provide yourself with great avoidance and infinate amount of taunt.

I think the role for monk as an offtank is very balanced atm. Sacrifice all dps in order to perform as an avoidance tank.

So you're saying spamming jeering kick for 200 damage a pop to keep aggro, while in an defensive stance is balanced to say.....Dreadknights?

Your defensive stance (sway) now adds hate + the parry and dodge like QTM said, so now you can hold aggro AND have the bonus defense, whats not to love?!  now you CAN tank and hold aggro very well!  this is how it should have been from the start  Cheesy

Sway does not add hate. you can tank sure, but NOT hold aggro. I think either you or I read it wrong?


and that damage shield cracks me up, drunken slap, LOL!

Yeah its our level 50 ability, lots of imagination there Tongue

You are saying I'd be going drunken mastery because it has.....5% evasion? Refresh haste is cool and all but that will take .8 seconds off of Crescent Kick. 6 seconds off of 1 minute finishers and 12 seconds off of 2 minute finishers (of which we should have NONE imo since casters/healers were all moved to 1 minute but ours havent). 3 seconds off of the 30 recast ae rescue, and 3 Minutes off of Drunken's _superduperspecial_ 30 minute reuse, 15 seconds lasting dodge (melee only dodge btw). Forgive me if I am not thrilled, Aum Kor does what, 25%? .8 seconds to 3 minutes here and there does not a stance fix Tongue   At least the 20% damage in Drunken Fist's old form made me feel like I was doing ok damage.

If you are going all out DPS then you'll be going Drunken Fist.

If you are soloing or going all out defensive you may want to consider Drunken Sway


I get it for soloing, damage shield and some evasion. But what's the point of going defensive _in a group_ if you can't keep aggro too?

A stance that gives 10% decrease refresh, some hatred, and measly 5% dodge.

Or

A stance that gives 20% dmg bonus and hatred.

Seems like a toss up.

This does nothing for our ability to off-tank.

The stance that gives 20% damage and hatred is goign away apparently? Sad  The aggression part is removed and it will make us more squishee. STILL does nothing for our ability to off-tank. They either need to get rid of all thsi off tank sSNARF or give us stances taht we dont have to macro every other hit so we can get aggression AND tankablity.

On test. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they are 'looking' at stances....but this adds aggro to our formerly neutral stance and its still 5% dodge? And the aggression percent isnt listed? This stance was used by non tanking monks and now might nto be able to be used by them because of the agression added.

Gonna repost something I posted in the other thread for consolidation's sake.

If I had known I was going to be main tank for my static group I wouldn't have rolled a Drunken Monk, I would have gone Dread Knight or Pally. But, I played monk in eq1 and I love the class and thats what I wanted to play. Being able to tank to 50 was cool but not really where I want to see the monk class or drunken style headed as a whole.  If we were to have aggro management abilities maybe instead of just flat taunts, it would be 10x better IMO. I'm an offensive fighter, but I sure as hell don't feel like one atm.  How should Sigil fix this? I really don't know, and its not really my job to know, its their deal.  I honestly would have made a Drunken Style post months ago if I thought it would make a difference, but the way the monk community has been treated in beta and in release, I really don't know if anything will make a difference at this point.
