1  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Any better than 10 months ago? on: February 15, 2008, 12:50:50 AM
Hey guys Smiley

It's been quite a while since I've popped in here, and I was just wondering the state of the monk in VG now, compared to last April or May?

As far as Shaman/Clerics go, just shush and stop being a baby.  They are fixing classes 1 by 1, right now it is Shaman and Clerics, monks will get their turn.  Just wait.

two words: ha ha

just wait?? it's been how long already? everyone has been telling the whole monk community to 'just wait' since release. ill believe it when i see it, and im guessing we wont see it for years down the road.
3  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: SOE buying Vanguard, most employees of sigil terminated on: May 16, 2007, 03:23:40 AM
Hmm, i hope SoE will not mess up the Monk like they did in EQ2 (reason why i stopped playing it)

I dont know how the status of the EQ2 Monk is now. But after i bought the game and lvled my Monk to 50 and they started to change stuff around Monks became very fast the crappiest class in the game. Well not like it is any different hear Smiley

Lets see what happens...

Not like we could be crappier than we are now? lol  I didn't even attempt a monk in eq2 because it was no where near an eq1 monk, didn't want to be a halftank.  Any word on if Talisker is still in or not?

on test:

- Rahz Inkur - NPC’s in Rahz Inkur can now grant abilities via observation.
- Nusibe Necroplis - NPC’s in Nusibe Necropolis can now grant abilities via observation.

Thanks Sigil for the wild goose chase for RitW3 up til this goes live! Tongue
5  Monk Discussion / Monk Quests / Re: Faction and quest on: April 30, 2007, 06:42:14 AM
Yeah I agree, factioning does kinda suck, but you don't have to do those areas for new stuff if you don't want to do the grind. I pretty much refused to do Tehat factioning except for teh 100 kill in the bigger pyramids because it involves loot and actual crawling isntead of just sitting around mass ae'ing 3 adn 2 dots Tongue

Rhaz faction really wasn't that bad if your group pooled the stones/bags to people that needed them. Got mine done in a night.

The new Xennemut dungeon doesn't need any faction as far as i know, except has an access quest. There are some decent loot drops in there, not to mention fun events. It's mostly grey at 50, but they bumped most of the named up to 45 so we wouldn't get TLC'd. (btw, Quinn if you read this, could you let someone know that monks get gimped out of having air brakes on the power suits because it uses energy...which we don't have. I really wish they would let all the devs know that ONE class doesn't get energy so they should stop putting it on reward abilities)

Gorgalok/Ichtakhta/Flordiel does involve _some_ faction but really not all that much, you just have to be non kos to get the quests, and you can collect armor bits while getting that faction so its no where near as bad as Marsh of Peril crap was.  And if you are sneaky, you don't even need to be non-kos to get the armor quests heh, haven't tried turning any in at kos yet tho Tongue

So really, while I agree, faction grinding like Tehat sucks, not all of it does, you just have to explore your options. And to make it better, skip around from night to night, that way you don't get burnt out on any one area Smiley

do the spells drop randomly or only from boss mobs?

So far we've only seen them in Rhaz (but haven't doen any other 46+ dungeon since they were patched in) Got a Bloodmage one from a trash elemental, and a Hayatet Shaman one from a named Phoenix, not sure if that was coincidence or not yet heh. We also got that bloodmage one again from another trash, so seems to be random drops, maybe some are on named or just named have higher chance or something.
7  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Anyone find "new" ablities yet? on: April 28, 2007, 05:39:26 AM
With all the new tomes/idols/crystals/etc dropping, I am curious if we could get word or not if we were left out. They were announced as 'spells' on the patch notes, most were group versions of buffs, but I think some classes got something new?  We as monks dont have spells, so I am just wondering if I shouldn't get my hopes up much for getting a new level 50 skill?
8  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: When will we see fixes to the 'fixes'? on: April 24, 2007, 02:42:27 AM
-Immortal Drunken Sway got a 6% cut on evasion, wth?
Drunken sway was altered to use Parry and Dodge (more counterattack opportunity).. it was supposed to grant more melee evasion. There is a appears to be either a stacking issue or a soft cap causing the issue.

I havent heard much about this one;
-Stone Dragon Stance is NOT calculating mitigation penalty correctly, some confirmation that this is not working as intended would be nice.

Looking into it.

~QTM

Before patch it was 15% dodge, now it is 9% dodge/parry. On the tooltip, not a stacking issue, or a cap issue. The tooltip itself was lowered.

As for the Dragon Mit Stuff:

9  Monk Discussion / Monk General / When will we see fixes to the 'fixes'? on: April 23, 2007, 04:29:00 PM
Just curious if there is any word on when we will see fixes to the fixes we were given?

-Secret of Ice still has incorrect duration of 20seconds (not all versions but this is sloppy it should be consistant)
-Immortal Drunken Sway got a 6% cut on evasion, wth?
-Stone Dragon Stance is NOT calculating mitigation penalty correctly, some confirmation that this is not working as intended would be nice.
-Iron Hand's Damage nerf when duration was increased.
-Palm Slightly Bruises the Chest (tm Sybrant) still not worth the 5 minute timer.

no one at sigil can do math. have we not figure this out yet?  idiot2
11  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Post-patch, what is Drunken Fist's damage bonus? on: April 18, 2007, 07:11:44 PM
i also love how previously we had no penalties at level 50, but now we do. thanks sigil  uglystupid2
12  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Stuff that got broke 4/18 patch on: April 18, 2007, 02:54:17 PM
Quote from: Quinn the Mighty
Drunken
Drunken Fist = More damage, Hate component removed, More squishy though
Drunken Mastery = Adding Hate, Quick Refresh, Some Dodge for evasion
Drunken Sway = Slightly less dodge but adds parry to the mix. Damage Shield (Drunken slap shield hehe) component added

This is what actually went in:

Drunken Fist - same damage, less mitigation (ie nerf)
Drunken Mastery - still no hard number on aggro, haste still doesn't stack with Aum Kor
Drunken Sway - went from 15% dodge to 9% parry/dodge (ie nerf)

13  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Dragon Issues on: April 18, 2007, 02:40:07 PM
Eh, someone else can maintain the list. Uninstalled VG today, and do not plan on renewing. Maybe I will see some of you all in Age of Conan or Warhammer Online. Best of luck, and I hope they fix the class in addition to the game.

Sorry to see you go Chunli. Best of luck to you, and thanks for all the help you've done here.  Cry
14  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Is this monk love? on: April 17, 2007, 12:45:17 PM
You have an aggro management stance (Currently is straight aggro to the monk. I am working on a tweak that passes aggro to and from offensive / defensive targets similar to a DSC bond. If I can get the idea more traction with Talisker I'll expand on this.)

if this idea goes live, i will have little quinn the mighty babies.  smitten
15  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Patch Notes 4/16 on: April 17, 2007, 12:41:08 PM

Upping the Damage on most abilities and putting all of the adv fiinisher chains on a 1 minute timer DPS doesn't up DPS? Not sure I follow you.

This coupled with a longer duration Eagle Claw = more raw DPS. Is it enough to bridge the gap to where we need to be? We shall see soon. If not, I am sure y'all wont sit on that information for long.  Grin

~QTM

did i miss upping the damage on most abilities on patch notes? and eagle claw is harmonious only.

as for finisher chains, every monk has ae finisher that was 2 minutes, now 1, ae is situational and does not up our damage 100% of the time...and i can only speak for drunken but we only had one other that was 2 minutes now 1....and it does the same damage as flying kick but adds a 30% crit chance (which i seem to miss the second chain 50% of the time, it should add +acc too imo) and three finger strike is moved to 5, not to one....sooo....we gain one minute on an ae finisher.....and gain one minute on a finisher that does maybe 150% of flying kick which is instant recast. and lose 5 minutes on the still to be proven worth it three finger strike chain. forgive me if i dont feel this is groundbreaking dps uppage.
