Doesnt matter really anyways. SOE came in with too little too late. The game is dead. The server consolidation is last step in the eventual complete breakdown. Brad was smart to get out when he did, at least. Damn him, he should have at least gone down with this sinking ship.

Wave hand in the clouds SHOULD be a 100% counterattack sort of skill, like ... oh what was that skill in eq, where all attacks incoming would allow the monk to get an attack in return, INSTEAD of taking damage.
This is the only thing that makes sense with the large jin and re-use costs.

Having the global cooldown removed and a 4/3/2 cooldown added (different ranks) are being looked into by the development team. So this petition is not needed. Also, you must remember that they will NOT balance the game for PvP. They have said this over and over again. In honestly, I would be happy they haven't removed it from us already, as the original thought behind it no longer works. As far as Shaman/Clerics go, just shush and stop being a baby. They are fixing classes 1 by 1, right now it is Shaman and Clerics, monks will get their turn. Just wait.
PFFT I understand that the game wont be balanaced towards PvP but I would seriously use the no global cool down and being able to do stuff while using the skill mainly in a PvE environment. Using the skill to outdistance a pull then use defensive abilities or whatever while flying. As for having it removed altogether, see my first comment. It is the only skill that sets Monks apart from other classes. Oh wait, they made a item with a click ability that does the same thing. I am sure they will soon make an item that will let you FD over and over like we do.

Monk Discussion / Monk General / Petetion: Soaring Leap

To help monk's playability in PvP and PvE, I would like to see Soaring Leap changed so that it will no longer cause a global cool down. Also, there is something about using the ability that whenever it's in use you can not use any other ability. This way we could at least use SL to jump around and throw surikens. SL also breaks our 160% dodge and this needs to be changed as well. Thus this is my petition.

How are "we" going to pull in raids when feign death fails 4 - 6 times vs mobs 3 lvls higher than us before we get a success? That would be one slow moving raid if a guild had to rely on fd in its current state.
Oh it's not that bad, if you know what to do. Spend some time running around Rhaz Inkur looking for named, you will get lots of practice trying to wipe agro. Some hints on wiping agro and using the buggy FD against large groups: - Always have as many run speed buffs as you can, as high as you can. - When running away to FD I use my mouse while pressing both buttons. In this manner when I FD and fail I keep moving. In other words, when you hit FD you dont actually stop, FD, fail, then have to jump back up and start moving. Try it and practice this. If you continue to fail you can just keep moving and spamming FD over and over. - When you do successfully get a FD off but some are still stuck to you from the FD bug, give them a couple of seconds for the ones you DID FD off to move away from the ones that are stuck to you then FD again. Otherwise, the ones that stick to you will re-agro all of the others that you FDd off and you are back to square one. - Get proper gear. Especially the Martial Sword from Rhaz, which has 18% parry vs. lvl 53's. - Use our 160% dodge whenever you are about to run past stuff. Usually the mobs will only get one chance to hit you then once they miss use a jump/soaring leap to move way past them and then FD. Unfortunately, using our 160% dodge then soaring leap makes the dodge go away. Sigh. - Use jump/soaring leap whenever you can. Mobs cant hit you if you are too far away.

Yeah, I was disappointed when I heard about they changed % to crit to an actual numbers that scale.Thats going to drive down the price of Athem at least Still all things considered I am a bit disapointed in the Afrit Ulak. Why in gods name cant they give us damage and worth while stats it just boggles the mind. Don't get me wrong the Damage on it is yummy but I think for time invested they could do better. ~QTM Has anyone ever seen the Afrit Ulak ever proc? In the last patch, all of the afrit weapons were changed to procs that affected all mobs, but more damage vs the efret. I have yet to see mine proc a single time on anything.

We're all beating a dead horse here. Most of the ideas (i say most a few are new to me) have been said already and have been brought up for the past 3-5 months now. Face it guys, i love martial arts and high damage as much as the next guy, but it's not happening. It won't happen as long as that dumb ass David Gilbertson is still in charge. at the moment there are NO plans for class revamps on the schedule at this time. I know you guys hope Sony will fix this game, but David Gilbertson is STILL basically the guy in charge, calling the shots. And he's an idiot. Watch this video to see what the upcoming plans for VG are, Class balancing is not one of them. http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?type=wmv&id=19787Wasnt this guy the same one that basically ignored everyone elses class inputs and did whatever he wanted? I do still have hope, I still actually play my monk at 50, but I know that lots of the community is dispersing quickly... This game needs Raid content and its still 2 months off.... what are they doing with their people??

That said, Monks need a serious DPS revamp, compared to other Offensive Fighters, Defensive Fighters, Offensive Casters, and even some Healers they just are not performing.. Ive played a Monk from Beta > Live and honestly the only people around still playing Monks that I know (myself included) do it cause they love the idea of the Class, the current system just isnt doing them justice though- imho. Nice post Hanzou. The highlighted portion I really believe explains why the monk community still exists in this game to be honest. Its also why the community has survived EQ1, EQ2, WoW, etc... Who doesn't love the idea of being a martial arts based dps class? I would have to say that this is also why this board has become so stagnant as of late.

It's a shame that the only reason FD splitting is even somewhat viable is because of how bugged FD is. When you FD and it says that everyone thinks you are dead, yet you still have a mob on your encounter list that will run up and camp your "corpse"... working as intended?

My suggestions:
- Of course our DPS sucks, this one is a no brainer. We need higher DPS because there is no way a Ranger should out damage us in melee (like they currently do) - Monks need a stun, root, and/or a snare. Something like a leg sweep that knocks the target down and they have to take a few seconds to get up. Every other class in the game just about has a way to do one or more of these. And I dont consider Secret of Ice a stun as you have no control over it. - Monks should have super-human evasion that give them a high chance to avoid roots, suns, snares, ect.
The only reason I still play my monk is in hopes that raiding content will eventually be released and I will be needed to pull. Whenever I get into PvP I end up running around trying to throw shurikens at people because thats all I can do.
I really hope SOE does somethign for this game, and for Monks in general. All they need to do is to take a class population poll and they will see the disparity. Whenever I log on, I am usually the only 50 Monk on Varking. I know of 3 Monks that have made it to 50 on Varking so far... how sad is that?

I have to say that I would never have made it to 50 on Varking without a guilding helping me level. Do I feel that our overall dps is lower then it should be at 50? Sure. But I feel that if I play my toon right I can do a lot more dps then people might realize. It's gotten a little boring now but the guild is going to test server soon to try out new raid content. Should be interesting at least. I'm the only monk in my guild, if that tells you anything about how many monks are lvl 50 on pvp servers.

on test: - Rahz Inkur - NPC’s in Rahz Inkur can now grant abilities via observation. - Nusibe Necroplis - NPC’s in Nusibe Necropolis can now grant abilities via observation. Thanks Sigil for the wild goose chase for RitW3 up til this goes live! Is this specifically for Monks? I have heard of other classes getting new abilities, outside of the scope of the original group of "found" abilities. I wonder because QTM never responded to the question of whether RitW 3 was in the game or not.
