63  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: LVL 50 Dragon Feed back from test ---few big issues QTM on: November 08, 2007, 06:51:30 AM
1.) I was under the impression that this skill was working O.K. I didnt mention any changes for it.
2.) I'll take a hard look at this as it's not the intention to nerf the ability. If you guys could do some cut / paste magic into this thread using divine Tsunami on live so I can do some additional comparisons it would be helpful.
3.) That tied to the class flag for the abilities.... it should have been corrected, but apprently it didn't.
4.) How much are y'all looking for? 2K, 3K?? It's a spell so int, may be a factor? I'll puts around more with this to see it's potnential with a Str / Int / Dex build. It could be a diamond in the rough.
5.) CK is a great low cost jin producing attack that does not incurr GC. Aside from a dropped version of the skill I dont know if it will change more than this. (End Cost change I do not believe to be intentional.
6.) - Dont have enough info to comment on this one.
7.) - I advised Tlaisker that this should be 8 seocnds to accout for latency related issues. Not heard much back on that.
8.), 9.)  Stats on test are bokred..... I dont have info about that.
10.) See note 2
11.) See notes regarding 8,9
12.)  I've been asked several times about pushing hands, and I still havent heard anything about making this skill more relevant.
13.) I'll check on that as the end drain seemes to be too high.

I appreciate the feed back

64  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Upcoming Monk Changes on: November 06, 2007, 12:57:33 PM
I spoke with Talisker today regarding slap hands ( Had no notes and could not remember anything regarding this)

* It is using STR so damage is affected by STR. - Good
* It has no refresh - Good
* No refresh is offset by the jin cost of 8

If we wanted to extend the duration / lower the Jin Cost we would have ended up with a refresh timer on it. I was not inclined to take the trade for a slight duration increase.

I think this is another situation where the skill really isn't broke.

As always, if the drunken monk community is in favor for such a change of this however I 'll ask Talikser to do it.

65  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Feign death in nusible - new bug? on: November 06, 2007, 10:56:04 AM
I've been in Nusible for a bit near the 1st trap and near the entrance as stated earlier in this thread.

Random thougts here, Perhaps there is some interaction with the supa skull.... I know back in the day the supa leach back in the Panthenon of the Ancients would bork my FD.... perhaps there is a similar interaction. Although this doesnt account for the other instances where it bugs out.

Its hard enough to group there w/o telling my group wait a sec I want to make a train and then see if I die.  idiot2

I'll prolly have to draft some dev assistance on this. Anywho keep detailing whats going on when you expirience this,

66  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Your Chance To Speak - Medium Class Armor from APW on: November 06, 2007, 10:16:59 AM
I agree that will need to be some kind of progression with gear.but, also keep in mind that aside from Tiraslee most of the dev team dont play monks outside of a quick test on something in the dev environment. We as the monk community need to be the guiding hand here. This way  they (The dev team)  know that this kind of stuff interests us so that long term some of these can end up on gear down the road.

What deadline...... lol

Stuff I've tried so far....

  • 5 mobs aggro ...did not reproduce
  • 5 Mobs + RiTW up.... did not reproduce
  • 5 Mobs + RiTW up + Stone Dragon Stance.... did not reproduce

I started messing around with soaing leap thinking it was movement based but havent had much success breaking it.

Meiyo,

I play drunken on Live and I tank / off tank for my guild groups quite regularly so I hear what you are saying. The original plan was to make them targetable and let you pile hate on to your defensive target and force aggro on to your defensive target. This would allow the drunken monk to effectively control aggro while not being the center of attention.
While talking about it we realized that it was greifable, and rendered the aggro abilities of all other classes obsolete with the presence of 1 drunken monk in a raid you cement aggro. While I want us to get our due one of the last things I wanted to do was put in an ability that breaks the game (It could be fun for the PVP server to sic that 5 dotter your enemy for 5 attacks  laugh).

In the end I really wanted to slightly enhance our tanking abilities as it aint broke why "fix" it. The ability is enhanced and not "Fixed". I dont think we are keeping score with what gets "Fixed" so dont worry about that.

I am still playing around with the new Staggering Punch and I am still on the fence with it. 12 sec reuse is pretty steep. and only prevents 1 cast but the mob pretty much starts casting the same spell anyway. (Secret of Ice may have more utility) On the other hand it does crit a whole hell of a lot (almost considered a jin free spinning fists)  I'd like more monks to test it and get thier impression as there time to tweak it prior to it going live.

Given they are moving errant strikes to 5 mins reuse timer, Drunken will still be able to deliver the largest DPS spike in the game every 3 mis or so.

I'll have to look through my notes but I thought there was something about slap hands taking advantage of STR and lasting longer. Knowing me I just neglaected to post it.

Talisker and I took a hard look at pretty much every skill in the monks aresnal and looked over the message boards / bug lists /feed back from you guys to effect these changes.

I am starting to ramble on, and I have a deadline I need to get back to.... DOH!!!! I'll check back on this later

My only issue with the monk set was the lack of HP thru con or direct hp on it.
With my current setup on raid test(98 pct i have on live ) i lost about 600 hp.
For the effort it takes for this gear it drasticaly improves all aspects of areas except the hp,
while to some of you this might seem minimal i would say that during pulls even at 10kish hp i was being 1-2shot on many pulls ..espec the caster mobs who tend to not come at you instead they range you.
HP will be very much needed inside of APW
Other then that small issue the monk gear was well though out

In some of my testing I have been using ignore pain 2.0 on nasty pulls (lvl 52+ 6dots hehehe)  as you'll mitigate a healthy chunk of dmg for 20 sec.. You wont last too much longer but youll get to where you need to be.

To be determined at a later date.

Your feedback guides the class right now so keep the feed back coming along. I snagged a suit of this stuff and so far I am impressed.

I'd like to see as effects,

  • + jin Regen
  • max Jin bonus
  • Soaring Leap like ability (I'd love to ditch my xenn boots but they have WAY too much utility right now even at 50.
  • Stat buff Str, Dex, Int
  • rune effect
  • enlarge our storm stride range
  • Spell Mitigation / immuninty to movement impiarements (root / stun)

I'll prolly add this to the bard stie a little later on today.

You know I dont know if they moved the mobs the give the skill... I would say CIS / TK is prolly a little high for a 16 lol

I'll add it to the list to double check.

The list of stuff grows shorter (of stuff not implemented yet)

----MIA----Damage boost to crescent kick – Not on test yet
----MIA----Divine Tsunami changing to 300% Weapon damage (CRUSHING) 30 seconds reuse timer for all parts of the AE Finishers
-----MIA ---- iron SKIN being decerased to 5 min timer

Dragon Changes --- ALL MIA
Dragon Rakes is claws will only cost 25 end
Dragon breath boosted damage with 3 min reuse timer and 4 jin cost
Aspect of the Spirit Dragon migrating to a end cost over time. It should give you a solid 20-30 seconds of invis. w/o burning your Jin (think FD then repeat as necesssary)

Drunken Changes ---- all mia---
Errant Strikes reuse timer reduced to 5 mins
Staggering Palm: Using current damage, but adding a 25% crit and 0sec insterrupt (stun), it will not incurr GC. It will also now have a 12sec refresh
Jeering Kick / Foolhardy Swagger will effectively remain unchanged, but will add additional hate to the monk.

All of this stuff is in, just didnt get to the patch notes apparently.

Actually thank yourselves, as most of this is a direct result from the feedback in the APW thread regarding art and other neeto stuff.

Yeah,I am getting the itch on this to go live as well.

I've been monky-ing around on test and, I must admit I am not having problems with 3 dot even - red mobs at 20, 30, 40, 50 so our solo-ability is way up.  It's definately a boost in DPS power. Secret of Ice / Fire have more defined uses.

Celerity on 5 min timer .....just aweseome

I really want to get the Dragon Monks take on thier changes as they get a more usable style now.

You PVP types should enjoy the new storm stride.

I cant wait.

I have spoken with Talisker and he advises it is a bug. Currently there are not any mobs with the ability to see through FD.

I've been trying to get a document together to replicate this... and it seems like its hit and miss.  So I am asking y'all to list exactly what you were doing prior to FD go to crap on you.
