Trap hands??? I havent seen that since beta 3. It could have been modified into a dropped ability  though.

The 2 big issues here

-30 sec reuse on swaying step:  I would use this a lot when I off tank / solo. I wasn't asked for input on this and it was going to happen regardless. The loss of the ability to utilize our dodge will now place more importance on RitW, Iron Skin, and your defensive stances. I would have been happier if they just increased it to 30 so that you could only fire off a couple in rapid succession. It would be there for the "o nos I r going to die" moments and not be burdened by the reuse.

-Forced aggro abilites: The Drunken Style utilzes 2 abilities to keep them the center of attention. Having 2 is now redundant as targets are immune to thier effects for 30 seconds after being used. Essentially it has been reduced to a rescue on a long ass timer that is situational.

I had a conversation with Talisker explaining the drunken position. I was able to convince him to modify our AE force aggro ability into an targetable AE aggro abiltiy. I still need to get the specifics but the % of hate transferred *EDIT 10%, 12%, 14%*  will rise with each higher of the ability. *EDIT  The ability heaps on a certain percentage of the current hate your defensive target already has against all mobs within 10M of your Def target.*  I think this will allow drunken monks to control / manupulate hate generated where we would offer a degreee of utility to a group while still make it a decent tanking tool.

I would appreciate any feedback y'all have on this.

33  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Feign death in nusible - new bug? on: December 05, 2007, 12:54:28 PM
It's not intended Just given the buggy nature of FD prior to the change we just never noticed (encounter)  it. It will however need to go to coding to fix.

For trash your pull team will prolly be 1 or 2 monks and a bard or 2. when it comes time for the big pull its usually the monk who get to be the speedbump as no other class can abort the pull if it goes to crap.

Lull only gets you so far......

*Errant Strikes is a drunken monk ability that acts as a 2nd  "Celerity" type ability
*You will be able to use Fists of Celrity with Secret of Transcendance after GU3 part II so there will be more damage there
*Jin Surge will no longer break chains in GU3 part II - even more damage
*Countess Fury is a expendable item that can be received via a quest in Floridel iirc that acts like quickening symbiote

Should have picked a safer spot =D. VT / Thel the mobs are wusses. lol

To draw the conclusion then it's an old EQ mechanic thats migrated to VG. Being cast on will break a successfull FD.
I was thinking it was a message timing issue however a 2nd look through my logs from VT confirm the theory. Against straight melee mobs I wasn't  breaking FD but against those dumb mothra mobs they were.

hell of a good job there Fujitsu.

1.) UI thing in coding
2.) see 1
3.) I'll look into it
4.) No time line on this. There are just too many differing opinions so it most likely going to get a tweak but stay as is. (Its not the anwer you want but, I am not going to lie about it either. Something will eventually need to be done with this though.)
5.) Fixed in dev not pushed to test yet.

I'll try and get a conversation with Talisker with 4 to at least make it more efficient.

Monks have arguably the highest damage spike in the game. You are just scratching the suface.

Try stacking Celerity / Errant strikes /  jin surge in there for starters. There are additional items like (The Countess Fury) wich can boost your burst DPS.

FD is not gong to change from it's current condition currently on live. Coding is currently working on getting us a more suitable mob reaction to a successful FD.

I guess I didnt word that right

Liat used to be 2 icons. 2 Effects and was explotable.  New and improved Liat 2.0,  1 buff icon, 2 effects. The effects are  interdependant on each other. The negative stuff drops, so does the run speed which is the result of a bug.

Sorry for the confusion.

O.K. I got the info on what was up.

Talisker made a change to Aum Liat to fix an exploit by making the buff effects  (Aum Liat provides 2 effects when applied) dependant on each other So if 1 is removed they both go. There currently is a bug that dropped the negative portion of Liat if you entered combat.

By Talisker fixing this you would now lose everything as they are now dependant on each other.

Talisker is in the process of fixing Liat to as I type this.

I think the whole thing with Avair is just a miscommunication

Edited for clarification on Liat does
42  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Upcoming Monk Changes on: December 04, 2007, 07:13:11 AM
Let me clarify my revious post. I was on test messing around with Aum Liat and was able to confirm the original claim that Liat was dropping. I sent an email off to Talisker have it looked at.  Since Kvick's conversation with Avair said it was working as intended, I cannot confrim / deny it as Avair doesn't really work on our class much so I will need to follow up with Talisker to the get the reasoning on this.

It may or may not be changed, but at the very least I'll get some info as to the reason.

I was able to sit in VT last night and break FD several times under controled conditions (and only self buffed). In my case it seemed like a message timing issue.

example,
00:00 Mob hits me
00:01 Mob hits me
00:02 You have fallen to the ground
00:02 Mob hits me
00:03 Mob hits me
00:04 Quinn the Mighty has been slain by a mangy rat

The entry in bold appears to happen at the same time as my FD but as a result of rounding / whatever gets processessed afterward. Since the mob is attacking me after the fact it just ignores FD and keeps on attacking, or maybe it gets social aggro from itself. Kind of like creating civil wars in Thel.

I can safely say it's not specific to the necropolis zone.

Fujitsu in your example, how far off were you when you FD? Were you being hit or already out of melee range when it failed? If you checked the logs were you hit at roughly the same time (same second in the combat spam). From my experiences using soaring leap on some mobs actually increases thier melee range on the Z axis.

At any rate I would like to thank all of the participants on this thread for thier help so far.

There are plans for epic quests, but what you are hearing about is prolly the next tier in raid gear.
