I'm just curious, do you guys, ( Current game. ) have trouble soloing for just raw xp? Meaning just killing even con / +2 level, 2 dots non stop just for strait up xp.
Really casual at this point, so i need to be able to solo. I dont need to kill named or anythign, but would be nice to be able to grind.

As to the ideal build, I'm sitting at about 28% mitigation as an Orc Dragon in Stone Dragon stance, and my gear isn't even that great. Hell, I don't even have any lucent jewelry yet but the Warrior rank necklace. I'd also doubt the value of evasion, since it only seems to work half the time.
And Maciver, it does get harder the higher in level you become. Maybe the effect is less noticeable since you started after GU 3.2? I know I had huge problems taking on even con 3-dots at level 50, even when using my self heal and racial I would have about a 40% success rate. Then again, I'm a Dragon, possibly the worst solo-wise of any class. It's better now - I can manage to take down a 40 4-dot without using my self heal if I'm lucky, and about a 51-52 3-dot now.
Sort of. I played on release. The great monk nerf? Made me give up around april Just came back after update though, ya. I couldnt solo an even con 2 dot before i left. lol

I'm surprised by some of the responses. I went drunken from the get go. Never tried anything else. Since i've come back to game i've noiced a huge increase in soloablity. I mean i have a necro aswell, he's a monster. Obviously my monk cant solo like him.
However, I'm not having trouble soloing for xp at all. 11 level all solo play since returning. I can move through even con / +2 level 2 dots without resting at all. 3 dot mobs a few levels higher, but challenging /w rest period. I have been killing stuff 2 dots thats 6 levels higher than me for quests.
Am I missing something? I'm level 30 /w ass gear. Do things become less soloable later on? I'm very casual so this is very important to me aswell.

Hey hold your horses. I never said anythign about trading it for sneak. haha
Although, I would make some sacrifices. I'm not saying I want a get outta jail free card. I'd be happy going back to EQ style FD, in such, gets broken by spell casting and AE's ect. Took some good timing, skill, and use of your enviroment, to get out of a room full of casters or pull them. Seems more dumbed down in VG. Same with pulling. It either works or it doesnt kind of thing. I know they are working on that, and I would just like to bring some awareness to the way it works aswell.
It's retarded and i cant even imaging pulling raid mobs with it, Simonson. God forbid i go to a dungeon a couple levels higher than me and try to pull for my group.
Khana, If thats the case, than the difficulty roll needs to be checked against a skill WE work on, our skill. Not the mobs level or some skill x10 they made up.
I got Pauldrons of Tarkas. Can't say as +8 makes much of a difference. Though i'd be interested to see if that ring does. Do you know what level that dungeon is? Anywho I wouldnt want to rely on item to make one of our core abilities work reliably...

God I'm so tired right now, so this will be short and to the point. Got some time off work this week, so i just had a good 12 hour session, wheee. Was going great untill I went the back way to southwatch and got murdered by the undead behind the gate. Well 3 corpses later we get to my point:
Basing FD off of mobs level reletive to you was such a bad idea. Why is it not skill based? I came from alot of years playing a monk in EQ. Having to ask someone to drag MY 3 corpses was just.....theres no words. And i know every monk reading this feels my pain. They were there, I could see them in the distance taunting me. There was nothing i could do. Nothing.
Floping. Its a skill, an artform. It's part of who we are. Why are we not down with the floping my brothers? I'll tell you why! Because "the man" is holding us back!
I dont know. Anyways, im going to bed. Share my pain in this time of need.
Amen
P.S. wru sneak

Just wanted to say also, I dont want them to be a big form of dps or anything. My train of thought was more along the lines of being able to solo a named 4-5 dot with em when we cant go toe to toe. Just another option. You know, then named casters take down without breaking a sweat. I dont want to xp with them or anything. Melee is more fun for me. I dont have the runspeed Aum, can you outrun most stuff with this for this purpose if it did become possible? Although I guess we CAN do it now if you have the time to run around throwing at something for awhile lol.

Sorry for the sizable bump, but I've been curious about this since release. Anyone know if they intended for throwing to be a viable dps option?
I thnk it would be cool for it to be possible to kite with them. Mabey it is already, and im just not high enough level to see it. Anyone happen to know what they intended with monk range damage? Just like EQ, for pulling and nothing more? I know theres a pouch from apw with summoned stars, how good are they?

This ability is pretty darn useful in my opinion.
If someone besides you is pulling, mez an add before hitting anything else. If you're pulling, prox pull and mez the add. If you're already in combat and need to control an add, FD and then mez.
We are not Psi's. Expect our CC ability to have a few limitations...
If it works like this, i agree. This will be awesome to have.

For drunken monks cresent kick seems to be better, because you can open up "staggered" with staggered punch. Then take advantage with the kick.
Vulnerablilitys are sweet. A rogue friend opens up atleast 2 for me. My dreadknight friend opens one. So theres always an option and its always dynamic, very cool. When you find yourself paying attention to these you lose less endurance it seems too, because a finisher opens up or ashen hand. So, your not constantly spaming your main endurance using attacks.
Iron hand and secrets i only use if im soloing something tough, or the mob in a group has alot of hps and i feel i get my moneys worth.
