1  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Positive Feedback - What can your monk do? on: February 09, 2007, 06:09:31 AM
Super Jump
2  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Learning Abilites From Mobs on: February 09, 2007, 06:07:29 AM
I think the patch from Tuesday(0206/07) night removed the 'learning' ability thing. I am sure it is something that will be detailed more fully once they finalize it. Before the patch, my group mates were learning my Fists of Ice ability, so it was not just critters.

Spies of Saruman!  *ugh*  No wonder people are preferring solo play if monkly secrets are being stolen.
3  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: question about druken stance(druken mastery) on: February 07, 2007, 05:36:45 AM
That's exactly why you need the haste.  You do hit but it's slow, you have to wait for it.  Wait for the white numbers to pop up before using an ability.  It will actually save you a lot of energy in longer fights.  If you just go through fights tapping ability buttons, of course you won't see much normal damage.  Ease up off the keyboard a bit.  =)

Has to do with those points up top that allow you to do nifty things.

From what I read today, I think the ability allows you to meditate.  Once you're sitting there for more than 10 seconds the points will start increasing.  Are you asking about the ability or general info?
5  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Help me choose a Style/Path on: February 05, 2007, 11:39:51 AM
I understand where you're coming from but as this is a choice that could lead to regret, I will tell you the following:

Play the game for yourself, not for others.
Be a dragon monk.
Be a drunken monk.
Be a harmonious monk.
Be the one you feel you are.  Not what others might prefer you to be.
Play the game for yourself, not for others.
6  General Topics / Non-Monk Class Discussion / Re: Disciples on: February 04, 2007, 08:52:38 AM
Yea, what Dojo said.

In Vanguard, a disciple is a healer class first.  One disciple can keep a group alive.  I wouldn't count on a beastlord to be a main healer.  Cool

I only played the first 16 levels as a disciple and but I'll sum up how I felt about it in a sentence.

A monk that has to worry about giving HPS while doing his DPS.
8  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: weapon of choice on: February 04, 2007, 06:22:07 AM
Hey, now that's weird.  When I was level 7, I landed a kick for 611.  Since reaching 10, I haven't even come close to doing that much damage.  I think that it was either a bug that was fixed a day or two ago, or it's a level 7 glitch.  That's crazy!
9  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Check out some monk dmg. nice legendary crit on: February 04, 2007, 04:08:55 AM
Great hit!  Congratulations.

I got a nice bug yesterday that allowed me to land a punch for over 10,000,000 damage.  Took out the poor mob in one hit... but it was just a bug!

I would definitely welcome disciples.   smitten
11  General Topics / Vanguard General / Untrained Horses on: February 04, 2007, 04:03:02 AM
Today I took a look at the horses for sale and noticed that there were several colors of Young horses and strangely one 'untrained' horse.  Here are the two names in contrast:

Young Light Grey Horse
Untrained Light Grey Horse

They were both 12 silver.  Does anyone know for certain what the differences are between the two?
12  Monk Discussion / Monk Tactics & Techniques / Re: Storm Stride working correctly? on: February 04, 2007, 03:57:56 AM
Currently, this will work correctly if I'm in a party that is already engaged in combat.  For example, if I'm in a group and someone else leads off the attack, I use the ability to teleport behind the foe.  However, if I lead off with this ability, it simply works like a ranged attack as you stated.  Try letting someone else attack before you use the ability.
13  Monk Discussion / Monk Gear & Equipment / Re: weapon of choice on: February 04, 2007, 03:54:13 AM
I've got your back on this Dojo. I'm sure it's not intended to be this way, but my monk is also doing more damage with his bare fists than with nuckles or claws.  I have not compared it to sword or staff, but generally dual wielding is higher damage all around.
14  Vanguard Monks / Introductions / Mace on: February 04, 2007, 03:33:06 AM
Well, hello everyone.  I am called Mace.  Introductions are a lot of work, so this will just be a greeting.  I am very glad I found this place.  I don't know why I didn't find it sooner, perhaps I was being lazy.  Yes it's true, friends, I am also called 'lazy'.

Can't fight who I am.  Now if you'll excuse me, I have a nap to catch.

((This is my in-game name on the Florendyl server))
((Love the roleplay.  All the time.))
((Drunken Style))
