Having the global cooldown removed and a 4/3/2 cooldown added (different ranks) are being looked into by the development team.  So this petition is not needed.  Also, you must remember that they will NOT balance the game for PvP.  They have said this over and over again.  In honestly, I would be happy they haven't removed it from us already, as the original thought behind it no longer works.  As far as Shaman/Clerics go, just shush and stop being a baby.  They are fixing classes 1 by 1, right now it is Shaman and Clerics, monks will get their turn.  Just wait.

Having a 4/3/2 cooldown on SL would just suck balls.  Global is enough if they really think this ability needs a cooldown.
They havn't balanced this game for anything - PVP or PVE and given Sigil's steller communication I fail to see where they have said this over and over, secondly Brad and Co. have stated things over and over through the years only to have a fraction of what they said they would have actually materialize.

And shame for calling out one of our own for being frustrated that Shaman/Clerics are getting love when we are in more dire need then them.  Like Shaman and Clerics are all that bad off - you got to be kidding, ever PVP a Cleric with a monk, it's the most funniest example of inbalance I have ever witnessed in MMO's.

I'm sorry but wait time is over and the Monk community(what's left of it) has every right to be pissed off.  SOE nabbed me for another 3mths, thats all they get unless significant improvements happen.  In 3mths they don't make a good showing thats another Monk kissing this game goodby.
2  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Now that Brad's & co. is gone.... on: May 18, 2007, 05:31:02 PM
You know I have been lurking in the shadows but have been always present.

I have sprung from the shadows when the time was right and things needed to be said or suggested.

I have suffered as you have suffered but have come to realize something.

Vanguard was meant to be a challenging and involving game, this is what all the fans and 'core' players wanted some to the extreme, "Give me a loin cloth and a stick and send me on my way", (shoot some might even say give me nothing i will craft my own loin cloth and harvest my stick).  As I see numerous posts on those 'core' gamers making the mad dash to 50 and then whinning that there is no content, no groups, no nothing to do end-game and that it was all to easy.
We have all seen these posts but you know there is one class that this theme is rarely if ever communicated - that is from the Monk/Disciple community.

People say we are gimped and the bastard child of the game, I say we are not gimped but are actually the 'core' of the 'core'.  We Monks/Disciple's have taken on the challenges of Telon as the 'Vision' was described.  We above all have tasted the hardships and frustrations of the 'Vision' and are still here to chew bubble gum and kick ass.  The other sphere of the game that can feel our pain is Crafters, Geez thats a brutal progression.  But wasn't that how it was suppossed to be, difficult, challenging not something everyone was going to reach end level without paying their dues?

So what I'm trying to say is that even though we may need some bug fixing and tweaking in the world today to really fix us is to "Balance" all the other classes to our level of power.  That way every class will barely survive 3dot mob battles and pulling two without CC is certain death, 4dots are out of the question solo even 10 levels above the mob, etc...
Then all will be balanced, content will not be rushed through, death because of stupid play or high risk ventures becomes a serious reality.  The player base will tend to remain more constant throughout the level ranges thus solving the LFG issue current today.  This will also afford the chance to allow players that are mainly Crafters or Diplomats to do a little adventuring, they are not on this hell bent grind to level their main sphere just to keep up with the main of the population.

So the answer is simple:  Nerf all the other classes to the power level of Monks or Raise the Monk to the Power Level of all other classes.
3  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Dragon Stance request! on: May 01, 2007, 12:22:23 PM
QTM,

I just dinged 30, woot me, and was hoping for a nice boost in Dragon stance regen, I got like a 2 point increase.
So now I'm doing  41per tick up from 39.  And this is when we get our new stances, seems very light on the upgrade.

What my request was is that if they don't want to bump the regen to something viable when we are in combat or not, then at the very least boost it when we are Out of Combat and sitting, this could be with or without meditating.

This gives this stance a much stronger utility.  Currently it's lackluster and begs the question of what is the purpose of this stance.  Again, they don't have to boost it for when we are in combat or FD'd, Out of Combat and sitting, just like when we eat food is a fine mechanic and I don't think would make us overpowered.

Everyone solo's at somepoint, its unavoidable, and it's not like I'm tearing through 3dot mobs same level so I don't see why the devs would be so stingy in giving us some utility.
Now if the Devs are thinking that we are fine where we are at with our DPS, they must be thinking every monk is running around in superior gear with legendary weapons.  I have 50% superior gear and use superior weapons, hand wraps and martial blade, all raised to full specialization and still have to be on my toe's fighting 3dot mobs of same level.

If they like to see us monks challenged in this nature, fine, I'm ok with it, but at least they can throw us a bone and make our out-of-combat regen faster.

I challenge the devs to play a dragon monk and do the full shadow hound quest starting at lvl 25 using blue gear and superior weapons, I would bet cold hard cash that poor dev would be using his god powers to modify somethings in short order.
4  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Dragon Stance request! on: April 30, 2007, 04:50:04 PM
QTM -

Could you ask the devs to tweak our Dragon Stance abit.
Given its current rate of regen its not really that viable when in combat, its best use is out of combat regen.
At lvl29 it takes me awhile to regen my HP pool even when eating food - which by the way doesn't display the food hp regen only the Stance regen when you do both at the sametime.

I'm working on my hound quest and when i battle the 3dot lvl29-30 mobs each mob is a battle.  I must sit down meditate/Stance regen hp.  This takes a good minute or two.

My suggestion is that the current regen rate remain when we are in combat or FD'd - if there is a balance concern.
But for the love of a poor monks sanity double or triple the regen rate when we are out of combat and sitting.  This would really make this stance have strong utility and give us Dragon monks some love when soloing.

Thanks for any help you can provide in seeing this getting looked at.

5  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Fix Feign! on: April 09, 2007, 11:48:35 AM
Feign works quite well as is, just need to learn the formula's used, and not assume its the same system as EQ feign. I hope they declare FD as working as intended and leave it as is. It speeds up pull times incredibly, dont have to wait for mobs to walk back, you know soon as you feign if you got the mob you wanted or not, and be fixed/altered just as quickly by standing up. Learn your class, instead of declaring its broken. Yes, it is different then EQ....this game is called vanguard =P. The system is repeatable and dependable, nothing wrong with it. Show me a mob in any set of any numbers, and I can pull it single. Don't be afraid of change, play around with it and get everyone saying 'wow, i never knew monks could do that'.

Fusoya,

If you have a technique that works with a current skill, why not share it with us.  Telling us to learn our class and not sharing your technique is elitist and does not help build the skills of the monk community.  You have made a very large claim in saying you can pull anything single no matter the mob group.  Great!  Share your technique so that the monk community can improve their skills.

I'm KageKiri - Dragon Monk and I approve this message!

Nice writeup Chunli, you have my vote for Dragon Monk lead.

But you forgot one thing from the list - Stance animations.

Storm Dragon - We are encircled by swirling electrical charges like that bad guy demon in the movie - Big Trouble in Little China.

Dragon Stance - We have the DragonBall Z power up aura - nothing obnoxious but noticable.

Stone Dragon - We take on the hue of Stone.

If we get these additions - then we will be on the right path to Brad's original statement about us!

I'd like to see Drunken Monks boost Evasion (at cost of accuracy or something) by actually consuming alchohol!!  Like, for 10cp you can gain 10% extra dodge and 10% extra hate at cost of 5% accuracy, for 10 minutes.

But you need a Wine Gourd to put that alchohol in!  Wink
10  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Secret of Ice Proc Rate? on: March 23, 2007, 12:36:28 PM
What about the following proposal?

- increase the damage component of Fire and Ice significantly (say an additional 40-50%); keep Celerity as is now
- increase the proc rate of Fire and Ice to 20%
- lower the freeze effect of Ice from 4 seconds to 1.5-2 seconds
- increase the duration of Fire and Ice from 20 seconds to 60 seconds
- Increase the duration of Celerity from 20 to 30 seconds
- decrease the reuse timer on Celerity from 30 mins to 10 mins
- add a 10 minute reuse timer to both Fire and Ice

This allows both Fire and Ice, when fully utilized to their potential by the player to add some decent DPS to the mix but not as a complete freebie (i.e., a buff that is cast once and can be forgotten about for the next 60 mins).

And I don't think it's realistic to request a significant proc rate on the freeze effect as long as the duration is 4 seconds like it is today. I can definitely see that being overpowering as most fights only last 15-20 seconds anyway.

I think the key is the re-use timer. If they want these to be nothing more than "flavor" than I suspect we'll never see a duration change. The other approach would be to make them add significance to the class while limiting any potential for abuse. The 30 mins on Celerity today is a little too much. I think 10 mins is reasonable although I probably wouldn't be too upset if it was 15 mins either.

I think the duration is fine - 1.5 or 2 secs is barely noticable - and if your using 2handers then you most likely won't even get a free autoattack given weaponspeed.  The proc rate just needs to be increased so that any given fight if you use a secret you have a chance to fire a proc, right now its like playing the lottery.
11  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Stances discussion on: March 23, 2007, 12:21:19 PM
I'd really like to see a bonus on Storm Dragon stance (or hell, whatever stance in Dragon Style, make a new one!  Tongue) give an additional 15-20% damage on crits.  I don't think this would be too extreme.....

A 1000 damage crit normally would only be boosted to about 1200 damage.  That would help DPS over the course of a battle and not be significantly overpowering or anything.  Hell even 30% I don't think would be too overpowering, as Dragon monks need DPS, because that's what we're specced to do.

What do other people think?

That would be cool to have a +dmg % to crits on the storm dragon stance as well as the proc.  They could scale it as we get new levels of the stances to make the +% more in line with what we will see at various levels.  This would allow them to give us appropriate level damage without having to play the Buff Bat then Nerf Bat scenario.

Personally I think the stance upgrades are too spread apart and is a missed opportunity for the Devs to take advantage of an in game mechanic that they could use to buff/nerf monks at various level ranges were necessary.

Another suggestion specific to Storm Stance is to allow both the Proc and the Secrets a damage increase if we pop Jin Surge, actually you could apply that to all monk styles concerning the secrets aspect.

A little off-topic but still concerning stances is our animations when we are in our various stances.
I see other classes have little swirling things and other animations - not sure on the specifics but i do see them.

Suggestions:
Storm Dragon: we could have little flashs of lightening crackling around our hands and like swirls of electrical charges around our toon, doesn’t have to be anything over the top but noticeable to party members.

Dragon Stance: a slight golden glow, kinda like the DragonBall Z power up, doesn’t have to be obnoxious but again noticeable.

Stone Dragon: we take on an overall grey appearance kinda like the effigy guys at Lord Tsangs.

Harmonious – I don’t play so will let the harmony monks chime in.

Drunken – I don’t play but would be cool if all drunk monks got a wine gourd on their gaining of the stance.  A lot could be done with the gourd mechanic, ie. a regening health pot, a power up for their high evasion stance, etc..  Also they need to move like drunks, those are just my suggestion I will leave it to the players of those style to elaborate.
12  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Secret of Ice Proc Rate? on: March 22, 2007, 06:36:45 PM
The duration is fine as it is, it just needs to proc more.
This will give use utility, survivability and will add more dps given vs. dps taken.  So in a sense we are getting more dps on target without incurring dps to us.

Right now its to random and infrequent to be considered anything but a side effect.
Some more consistency would allow us to be more strategic with our secrets.  My tanking friend actually doesn't like it when his target gets stunned as he loses the control on the mob if he needs to move it.

Some scenarios its going to work out great, like soloing or off tanking, others it may be a wiper because you froze the tanks target and he couldn't move it out of the path of some patrol that just walked by.

Increase damage on other abilities, ice I use for slight dps increase but moreso for the stun effect.

Just my thoughts.

Hey Xeliso,

Thanks for the reply - I'm also on Gulgethor.

Seems that they could buff up the occurance of the proc rate somewhat.  It doesn't have to be anything insane but given my experience and your experience the proc makes for a nice occasional side effect but nothing that could really be considered on any given fight.
14  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Stances discussion on: March 22, 2007, 12:27:27 PM
QTM,

As a Dragon your summarized list for the dragon stances is good money.  If the devs were able to deliver this I would be a happy Dragon.

I would see this as making us fixed with latter patchs bringing in enhancements to enrichen the stances even further.

Thanks QTM and I hope we can see this live soon.
psst - A little prophetic vision of an approximate rough guess to see live would go along way.
15  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Secret of Ice Proc Rate? on: March 22, 2007, 12:18:49 PM
I was fighting mobs in the Jin Ka forest last night and was primarily using secret of ice most of the time.
I'm lvl 23 Dragon Monk was in dragon or stone stance so as to use secrets.
Mobs were 3dots lvl 18 to 20.

Out of approximatly 40 mobs fought only 1 actually was hit by the actual freeze proc, this is very noticable as the mob just stood there as i repeatedly pounded on him for several seconds without any counteraction from the mob.

I would like to know what other monks are experiencing with the secret of ice proc rate.
Is a 1 to 40 ratio for the proc rate correct?
