Harmonious Monk Bugs

1) Harmonious stance can be abused
-Confirmed-
It sure can, the advantages from it isn't really gamebreaking but it should be taken care of at some point.

About the broken procs, I have never gotten Secret of Fire/Ice to proc, when I today grouped with a dragon monk I was a bit perplexed when I saw him being able to get both Fire and Ice to proc, not often but it happened.

Have any other harmonious/drunken monks got them to proc 'ever'?

Harmonious Monk Issues/suggestions

1) Stances

Dragon Stance:  Way to high endurance penalty (50%), You need a group that can supply major endurance regen (Bard+Cleric basically) for it to be worth using. Base endurance costs on several abilities are already high as it is.

2) Harmonious Stance

Only regenerates Jin over time and at a very slow pace, I'd like this stance to have something more to it. While Jin regen isn't a bad thing between fights this stance just have a feeling of 'yawn' around it.  If this could have a small hp regen or similiar it wouldnt have the same 'gre'y feeling over it.

That being said harmonious is the stance I use most now after the meganerf of Crane, this doesn't make it good, just the lesser of evils.

3) Crane Stance

The evasion + critical hit nerfs hit this stance hard, way too hard. As been stated in numerous posts we weren't overpowered by any means, the evasion didnt allow us to alone take down mobs we shouldn't be able to, in fact the stance was perfeclty in balance (with most other classes) for solo purposes before.

Abilities:

1) 'The 250 dmg sheild'  (Wich i have forgotten the name of since i never use it) with a 30 min cool down and cost on 10 Jin.
I am sure this is a nice surprise for your opponent in a PvP environment but I see little to no use of it in PvE. Yes it can help you take down that fasthitting 3 dot mob twice an hour when you solo and that about sums it up.
This ability should be replaced by something useful to help us distinguish ourselves as harmonious monks.

2) 'Deadly Adder Hand' Makes the mob hit for a little less (debufing str) and adds a tiny poor little nuke when it wears off for an astronomical cost of endurance. The nuke is around 300 dmg at lvl 30 (Depending on mitigation etc) and as everyone understand this makes zero to no difference at all in 99.9% of encounters. If this would have a 50% chance to stun the opponent for 3 seconds when it wore off instead it would be a lot more tempting to use.

3) 'Tiger Pounces' Ability description "A precise attack that deals a minor 57 to 65 damage but will always result in a critical hit" If this was true I would have no objections really, but it gets resisted/evaded as any other attack (Yeah I know I am playing with words here). Its on a 5 min cooldown timer and costs 4 Jin, would it be too much to ask to lower the possibility for a mob to evade this attack?

Its hard to play around with it and do extensive tests due to its laughable refresh time but I have the same experience as Calibix, pretty useless right now.

How about the other secrets, anyone managed to stun/interupt/freeze a mob with Ice and how rare is the DoT proc with fire really. I think Fire/Ice adds a 'reasonable' amount of damage when used correctly but as long as they dont do what's promised in the description I add them to the "in need of fixing" cathegory.

While I agree to everything posted above I just want to emphasize the FD issue since its easy the thing that frustrates me the most.. Like posted above, why would I need to be able to split even con mobs when everyone and their dog has some kind of mez in this game. And in the recent patch they even lowered resists on mez'es. (If I read it correct)

I just got 3 failed FD's in a row on a bunch on mobs 2 levels above me wich made me scream in frustration, a druid could though easily lull the creatures for single pulls. Never felt so completely useless as a puller before, totally outclassed by a dps caster class.

Aye, my favorite grinding spot right now is the 21 3 dot ants near renton keep. Basic melle, but i can down the stirges near twin lakes as well as some hobgolbins in the scar area, adds galore in there though.

Ah yes, those ants.
I remember them as soloable at lvl 21 as well, slight overcon for their level, good exp!

Now, i am experiencing the same as everyone else here, just soloed a bunch of even con (28) snakes and wolverines and they leave me with less health left now than yesterday (40-60% now, compared to 60-80 before patch). I'm not even bothering with Crane now since  the extra dps on Harmonius/Tiger stance vs the slightly better evasion in Crane seem to equal out.

5  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: The New Evasion system and YOU. on: February 15, 2007, 12:59:57 PM
I have seen no problem with the new evasion setup on my drunken monk, I can still solo lvl 21 3 dots with minimal issues, maybe FD'ing every 5 or 6th one due to luck of the draw miss's.

You solo even con 3 dots at 21 with Drunken?  Hell im off to see the coach near Khal. Undecided

I dont like the nerf Crane got, but i clearily see how overpowered the 70% ish evasion was before when it comes to one thing, tanking big mobs in groups. It was just wrong that I could tank 4-5 dotters equally well as a defensive fighter due to evading maybe 8/10 hits.

Its stunning to see how they keep nerfing the 2nd or 3rd least played class..bah

I agree with the wise Valant, stay away from Harmonius, this last patch just killed a huge part of what was so enjoyable with Harmo.

Dont worry, I dont feel picked on at all but put words in my mouth again and this is my last reply to you.
I'm just simply explaining how I have overcome the "DPS issues", while you rant I find the class interesting enough to keep playing and wait for "fixes"
8  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: 22 Monk - Only 3 AUM abilities learned? on: February 14, 2007, 02:17:19 AM
Yeah I'm sure you have noticed a lot about me after 5 posts or so, you have to excuse me I did not take you very seriously after the post about "Anyone who uses tiger stance is an idiot". I mean..come on..
And if you're using Crane while grouping I think you are in need of some serious buffage that helps endurance regen.
You need to quit STR debuffing normal 3-4 dot crapmob, 38 END is way to high cost for no significant difference.

Sorry we are not experiencing the same thing, I use Tiger 95% in groups and if im not caucious i usually have to fd off aggro at least once during a 4+ dot fight no matter what the tank does, this has never happened when I have tried Crane in a group. In my world there is no chance that Crane has higher dps but whenever you provide sufficient proof I will gladly reconsider.  i do not experience my END bar hitting the bottom fast with decent buffs (a bard halps too)
You are also talking about the profit of doubling your defense in a group wich makes 'no' sense at all, care to elaborate? Why do you need defence while hitting a mob from behind? Adds? Takes  0.2 seconds to switch stance, Aggro? No chance with Crane I'd say.

The reason I meantioned my 18-20 experience with Tiger was that I was pretty stunned myself how fast i plowed through the fire elementals abouve Hathor Zhi using Tiger while Crane took me much longer. (Those mobs in particular are quite an overcon)

Oh, and no need to pity me 'bro' I am enjoying myself a lot here, you on the other hand seem far from as happy with your gaming experience. And as a friend of order I am really curious why you after playing since early beta picked a class/stance combo that you thoguht were crippled all this time.
9  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: new monks something you should know before making a monk on: February 13, 2007, 09:24:46 PM
Not saying there arent issues with the monk, but ranking us as the worst class due to our dps isnt top notch is a tad narrowminded..or you can ask the countless of groups monks have saved from terrible 'tombstoneruns' in deep places if they also think we're that crappy. (No they dont, they love us)

As a harmonic monk (cant speak for others since the stances seem to be what distinguishes the different monks more than abilities)  soloing is doable also, the game isnt designed for 'any' class to plow through even con mobs and exp is somewhat slow in VG.

Here is what I have found  most efficient. (10-15% exp / hour in mid 20ies depending on if you're buffed or not wich is very much comparable to what a druid does)
First mobs in the open usually come in 2 levels 21-22, 23-24 etc (Odd number first). I fight mobs in the same range as i am currently self in, once I go out of this range it get unefficient. When I was 24 i fought the 23-24 range and at 25 i moved to the 25-26 range.  Sometimes I need to grab some cheese after 2 mobs, other times I can kill 10 without having to rest just going from mob to mob.

This is all using Crane Stance giving me roughly 65% evasion to melee attacks wich helps a lot, at lower levels I used Tiger Stance a lot more but mobs are starting to hit harder faster than my AC/HP goes up.

Also you need to find mobs that arent arent overpowered for their levels or have too nasty abilities that messes up your dps too much. (Yes there are crows and bugs and crap that have like zero nasty abilities in the mid 20ies)

Oh and today this happened that made me feel..not so crappy *grin*

10  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Stance bonuses missing! on: February 13, 2007, 09:23:34 PM
2-3 Jin / minute? I'm not really sure just guessing. Much faster to get it up by hitting something anyway.

Edit: Just logged in and timed it, took me 2 minutes and 5 seconds to get 3 Jin...
11  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: Stance bonuses missing! on: February 13, 2007, 08:32:01 PM
Harmonic

Tiger Stance: Increased critical chance by 20%, increasing endurance costs by 50%
Harmonious Body Stance: Regenerates jin over time (This one is almost useless in my eyes)
Crane Stance: +20% on block, parry, dodge. Decreased endurance costs 25%, lowers damage 20%.

Crane takes me from 25% -> 65% evasion as of now, making it possible to tank/offtank/emergencytank 4 dotters around or a few levels above me without being a complete manasink.

and Tiger Stance is utterly useless and pathetic- no Monk uses it, and if they do theyre an idiot.

Huh?

You might need to develop this, I've soloed 3 levels 18-20 in 8 hours only using Tiger Stance.
13  Monk Discussion / Monk General / Re: 22 Monk - Only 3 AUM abilities learned? on: February 09, 2007, 01:13:18 PM

In this case that link doesnt help much since the harmonic aum's arent included..

OP: I'm 24 and havent learned anything since Tiger Pounces so we just gotta wait and see i guess *_*

Here they are, Deady Adder Hand and Eagle Claw both learned at lvl 15,  Tiger Pounces i believe was lvl 18.
